  1. Christ, as if life isn't hard enough without being a Villa fan. Hate to sound like everyone else, but when Konsa scored I didn't celebrate, as it seemed inevitable that we'd end up with the usual sinking feeling. Quite literally now. Think that's probably it.
  2. Every time we've worried overly about stopping the opposition, we've lost. Hourihane has scored important goals for us time and again, and absolutely has to play considering the paucity of our attack.
  3. Yep, I can't see us recovering from another Leicester-type loss. We need to actually find the back of the net today!
  4. Can't help but feel this game will set the tone for the remaining games. HUGE. We simply cannot lose.
  5. Think Davis up front will be a masterstroke!
  6. Happy with the attacking line-up. MASSIVE game. Getting nervous now...
  7. Personally, I think Conor Hourihane has to play. We struggle for goals, and concede too easily. As soon as we go 2 goals down, as against Leicester, the whole team seems to shrug and think well that's that, as we know how much of a struggle it is to find a single goal let alone more. Hassan & El Ghazi can play averagely and still make the first team, whilst Connor is hooked straight away. Would also definitely play Nyland for the rest of the season. Completely agree with the idea that this period has probably benefited Villa more than any other team, but that will be blown out of the water if we lose tomorrow. This game seems about as big as it possibly gets!
  8. >> Have a feeling Nyland will be our most important player on the pitch today, no matter what happens.
  9. Absolutely right. Can't help but feel we're always likely to let in at least 2-3 goals, so we need to score a minimum of 3 in every game for the rest of the season to try and get points.
  10. I wouldn't say it's impatience as much as managers showing clear and worrying signs of incompetence. I was a fan of Paul Lambert (for quite a while) but when he simply gave Albrighton away it demonstrated just how muddled his thinking became.
  11. What a strange and wonderful thing football is. Sheffield United, the greatest promoted team in the history of football ever, are only 8 points above us. Probably the most important goal of the season. Excellent, mature performance in front of an understandably nervous VP to turn around a losing position against a confident team without a striker. Incredible.
  12. Hate to be so pessimistic but I really hope our goal difference isn't destroyed here.
  13. As things stand we'll be going into this game in the bottom 3. Heavy defeat here and things will start to look perilous.
  14. ...as surely you would, what with your Premier League football experience and world stature, of course.
  15. You would then have to make that 4 seasons he kept us up! There's something about this that seems like a perfect fit to me. He was outstanding for Villa over period of time you simply can't put down to a fluke or whatever you like. Win win for us. Bring him home.
  16. It's kind of like Robbie Savage saying "I was hammered on Twitter..." each and every week on 5Live. People are irrational, and social media plays to this irrationality. It is to be expected. Like the inevitable 'X is the worst player I've ever seen' in the first 5 minutes of every match thread.
  17. Shane Long has essentially built a career out of playing like Messi against Aston Villa.
  18. Fair play to Kodjia, everything you want from a striker for his second goal, no matter who the oppo are.
  19. I think it's pretty obvious why we are struggling in the league if Kodjia is our back-up striker to Wesley. Currently, that looks a desperately poor front line for the Prem.
