  1. I don't see him as a rb personally (he probably could fill in if required in case of injuries or what not). I don't think he has the legs to get up and down the pitch and can't see him being a great crosser or ball player. Since playing through the injury at the end of the 14/15 season I think he's looked under pressure physically. Hopefully a good pre season with the Sheikh of muscles can get him firing physically and he can finally have a shot at an uninterrupted season. Then we could finally see how good or bad he is.
  2. Edit: same position Richards thinks he should play (right-sided centre back)
  3. I think that it is longer than that of Micah Richards.
  4. Didn't say Clark has been good or should have started. Just said that Ireland's revised gameplan gave the defence less to do. And the clean sheet was not a direct result of dropping Clark - It might have helped, it might not.
  5. It is debatable but Ireland's defence had little or nothing to do all night. My point is that the clean sheet was more to do with the change in system as opposed to the dropping of Clark. They attacked the Italians and put pressure on them high up the pitch instead of inviting them on to us like Ireland usually do. Which incidentally has been a problem for a while at Villa too. It drives me mental when we lose the ball and everybody just runs back filling space and not really picking anyone up or trying to win the ball. The more time the ball spends near your opponents goal the less chance you have of conceding a goal.
  6. Rep of Ire play a more attacking system to support Long. They retain and win ball back further up the field. Thus, defenders have less to do. Clark would more than likely done as well as Keogh last night.
  7. Is that another lazy link to ex West Brom player because of Di Matteo? Disclaimer: I don't know if he was there at the same time and I'm not bothered checking.
  8. This man owes us nothing at all but I'll definitely take him too. Clark can go run up and down the garden then!
  9. Or just take the money they've offered?
  10. And all as a result of this season when Kompany has been mostly out injured!!
  11. I think we will have to go back to the old Jack Charlton school of football tonight (by the way Jack had more talented players than we have now and didn't necessarily require hoofball. He liked it though)..... Not the way I like to watch football, but considering Belgium's supremely talented attacking players failed to break Italy down, I don't see what hope we have of getting it on the deck and passing it about. We are Ireland not Spain. If Walters is going to play, start him and see how long he lasts. If it's 10 minutes then so be it. No point in giving him 10 minutes at the end when he could have lasted 15 or 20. Use him as the target, get men around the breaks (not like Saturday - Hoof to Long against 2/3 Belgians with the nearest green shirt 30 yards away). And then hope and pray for lucky deflections, goals that squirm under the Italians keepers body after hitting Long in the back of the head from an attempted Italian clearance, a couple of Italian red cards, defenders doing a Paul McGrath vs Italy in '94 and whatever else the big man is willing throw our way tonight!! And most of all 3 points to take us through! Maybe get Roy to roll back the years and play tonight - He owes us a few games at a major tournament.... Anything that helps, I'll take it!! Put 'em under pressure! Come on Ireland!!
  12. They asked him to turn 180 degress without falling over....
  13. Exactly. Guzan has little or no chance of landing a Head & Shoulders contract!
  14. Is Glasgow glam enough for his missus though?
  15. Kiraly? Playing out of his skin at the Euros!!
  16. Probably would have been more use than Wilshere....
  17. Believe it convinced Liverpool to splash out on him....
  18. I'm finding it a bit difficult to identify the link here.
  19. But a clear indication of ambition
  20. Marchesi will sort him out Hopefully!
  21. Which one is the Chinese fella again?
  22. One played in a team which had a clear game plan each player knew their role exactly and each player carried it out to perfection. This team won the league. The other played for a club that had papered over cracks for 5 seasons with players who, well let's face it were (not all) not exactly consumate professionals throughout the season and some seemed to forget how to play a pretty simple game. This team finished 19 places behind the other team and is being considered one of the worst PL teams ever. Very difficult to compare their respective individual seasons.
  23. Has he done anything right which would warrant interest from us or anyone else? Or is this 'he would be alright' thinking based on comments from Fergie and Rio around 6 years ago?
