  1. I'm a big fan of Weimann, but I think when we are playing away especially at top teams we need to offer our defence more protection, so I would go with the below. Guzan Lowton - Vlaar - Clark -- Baker westwood - sylla - delph Zog -- Gabby Benteke
  2. You originally argued that he hasn't made us worse than last season. Which is just not true. You then went on to make a lot of excuses for all our problems blaiming the wage bill and lack of experience but fail to blame Lambert for any of this. It was also made clear to you that your list of experienced players he had to sell was utter rubbish. You also seem to ignore the poor tactical decisions he has made which has cost us important points this season. No-one can argue that Lambert hasn't gambled wrecklessly with his transfers, team choices and tactics, and he's alienated players that many would have kept onside. BUT you look at the team we have now and you look at the passion hunger and determination of the players and...... just maybe if we did stay up then with a few decent prem experienced players added then the future might even mean mid-table obscurity and the occasional cup run next season?
  3. so come the end of the season there is going to be one major exodus even if we stay up. most of the below will be either released or sold at a pittance. Defouenso Ireland Makoun Lichaj Hutton Dunne (god knows why we would give him a new contract) If Benteke gets sold - will we keep Bent? If we get relegated then who knows who we will sell, but Dunne and forced sales aside - it's clear that the above have to go.
  4. thing i like about him he never stops running and makes some good interceptions, plus he always tries to pass forward. with Westwood taking most set pieces we also don't have Bannan's awful corners going against him.
  5. he did well, closed down well, kept possession well and tackled well, can't ask for anymore really.
  6. he did well today, credit where credit's due
  7. we won, but we were so shit at times. Really impressed by Sylla, and apart from one needless loss of possession Bannan did well.
  8. I was explaining to the missus about the issues with our defence, Clark, Vlaar, Lowton, Baker and Guzan have never played week in week out in the premiership till this season, so every game is like Russian Roulette to see who will make a **** up that will cost us a goal or the match. They are all getting better and getting experience and Guzan has not done much wrong, Vlaar is at a level he should be fine but it is still his maiden season, it's nothing to do with age or ability it is all down to experience.
  9. Sylla and Bannan have been pretty good. Can't believe yet another needless defensive **** up has cost us a goal. Thought Gabby was awful till that finish!
  10. i reckon Lamberk will play KEA if fit.
  11. he's not as bad as some people make out, but his set pieces are utterly woeful, 1 decent cross in 20 is not acceptable.
  12. will he be fit for Reading? I really hope he is, i know he hasn't yet turned out the player we hoped he would be but he's still better than the alternatives. I still think we have a bit more defensive steel when Lichaj plays - ok so he doesn't offer much in the way of passing but he can tackle.
  13. It's a lot to ask a fringe player who has done very little to justify a starting role in defence to come in a position they have barely played and expect them to be the finished article. I do think he has the attributes to be a good player but by the time he has the experience needed to be a first choice centre back we may well be in another league.
  14. positives are we made City and Arsenal look fairly mediocre - neither team really dominated us. negatives are defensive mistakes cost us again and in both matches we lacked composure in the final third, Holman looked ok when he came on. does the Delph booking mean Lambert will play Sylla - nope he'll play KEA just you watch.
  15. I think it's hard to call on Vlaar and Baker yet and even Bennett. But agreed our front line is half decent but our midfield and defence are why we are in danger of going down. We resemble a newly promoted team who never quite strengthened properly. On paper we should be better than Reading and Southampton, but neither seems as defensively naive as us. QPR have many good players too many in fact but seem clueless how to turn that to their advantage. Wigan play nice football but haven't really changed much of the last few years, they are woefully inconsistent but they have had stability for longer giving them a major edge over us. I feel our team as a whole is starting to settle and improve, but until we grind out some tough results like against West Ham, then it's impossible to say if a corner can be turned. We need a nil nil draw to prove our defence is capable of one.
  16. is that the dressing room at the strip club? *bows*
  17. he could score from corners as well maybe? I think if he was a fit a short term contract would do no harm. Can't be any worse than Didier Agathe!
  18. i wonder what the ratio to free kicks and corners needlessly conceded to goals will be for this one? Can we not do our fouls and hospital tackles further up the pitch?
  19. The rumour is still out there http://www.footballfriendsonline.com/blogs/2013/3/3/could-john-carew-return-to-save-villas-season-video.html? and it's getting sillier
  20. I think Lambert shares the opinion that I have - 'We dont want to turn back'. i would turn back to finishing 6th though
  21. I agree it's a vicious circle - if Bent plays or comes on as a sub and doesn't score a lot of fans going crazy with rage and hate and yet he needs to play to get confidence. Lambert has chronically mismanaged him and there is no turning back.
  22. Praised mambo what is you find so disagreeable about my post? Yes I agree dropping Weimann seems silly as he scores goals, but I just don't think the formation/way we play offers our defence the protection it needs, there is no obvious answer but there has to be one.
  23. it pains me to say it but i can't even see the point in watching this one, the amount of set pieces and chances we give teams will mean we are murdered as Man City are pretty clinical.
