  1. Sleep it off. Tomorrow's another day.
  2. The Eredivise is utterly useless. Can't and shouldn't at all be used to gauge how good a manager is.
  3. Dyche would turn this place around, but he's a slow burner of a coach. Hard work is his mantra, doesn't suffer fools easy. No pissy excuses when they get beaten. I like that. Villa should be putting out the feelers now. I think he would be interested to speak to Purslow despite both teams league positions.
  4. Forgot about that, we had Stevens too didn't we. And Steven Davis. And Gary Cahill. O'Hare playing for Barcelona in 2 years. Chalk it down
  5. Classy on the ball. Sharp in transitional phases and a very intelligent footballer. Yeah, he pretty much played that whole season at forest and did very well. Bit part player for Sheffield United last season but hard to break into a winning team. Disastrous loan at derby early on this season, Everton hauled him back and sent him to Wigan and he's done fantastic for them. Still only 21 or 22 i think but probably decision time for him. Not saying it would be a statement signing for us but a really good one that would fit into a current and future team structure. Wouldn't be a huge fee for him id imagine.
  6. For me, we should be trying to sign guys like Kieran Dowell outright if we go down. A really good talent but with Everton's options and money probably isn't going to get into the team so he has a decision to make this summer. He could definetely play premier league in a year or 2.
  7. West Brom play Fulham next. Not a gimme by any stretch. Fulham will fancy their chances for 2nd if they can beat them.
  8. I'd go as far as to say it's bare minimum that we have palace and everton beaten before the other 2 play each other. Draws no good now, your only pissing into the wind .
  9. Leeds will comfortably stay in the PL next season. He'll add 2 or 3. They are so well drilled on how he plays. They might even Sheffield United it.
  10. The funny thing is if Fulham kept together the team that beat us at Wembley the might of made a better fist of it last season. They ripped it all up unnecessarily. We kinda had no had choice.
  11. I'll say it again lads what Newcastle did or didn't do today is their own prerogative. They owe us nothing. Our uselessness is all on us.
  12. It's also a gamble to stick with. Far too simplistic to say he got us up once and will again. Was a much different team and will be a much different one again next season.
  13. And i really hope posters do refrain from this " Newcastle and Norwich are crap talk " like we are owed something. Everyone starts off in the league with no points, so...made our bed, lie in it.
  14. And you just know they " run " the dressing room and i don't mean run it as in Roy Keane kinda run it, they run it in a " what music gets played after the match " kinda way.
  15. We've definetely some players we can work with. Engels - player in him. Konsa looks nervous at times and you'd wonder is he going to make it, you'd forget though he had about 70 league appearances for Charlton by the age of 20. We need to add. Covid 19 will make the window difficult for everyone, not just us.
  16. This was one of my very earliest memories of Villa. Again, would of not noticed any of this but this guy....wow. Worth remembering too that Serie A teams were elite these years, better than English league. He could of played Italian football every week and not looked out of place. We've got lucky when we've rolled the dice on players who were perceived as injury prone or not quite good enough when it came to defenders. I'd heard of Laursen, was highly rated in Italy but thought Milan knew something we didn't when i heard he was coming to us for 3 million ! The reality ? Couldn't get in ahead of Nesta, Maldini and Stam. Then Mellberg from racing Santander. Are these guys just not out there anymore. Has the landscape changed that much. How can Celtic pluck the now best CB in the world from Groningen. Have we gone away from the good old fashioned method of sending scouts to games.
  17. Really enjoy reading your contributions. Be great though if you could click on the "quote" when replying to a specific message. Your messages on there own just a bit random. Not a criticism, just thought you maybe weren't aware of how to quote a message.
  18. Ok then, im thinking they don't like abject failure. Better ?
  19. Partly true but sitting on his arse sulking after not getting a free is not on Smith. He's a big lump of a lad, needs to toughen up. Alderwierald and Sanchez threw him around like a rag doll opening day of the season. He toughened up a bit. Where is he in his rehab ? Will he be ready for the start of the new season ?
  20. Exactly. And it's all relative anyway when you think of it like this. You won't win games and do well in this league anyway if you haven't got a bit about you in terms of talent and footballing ability, so it's very unlikely and highly inaccurate when people say teams like say Burnley for instance just play boring football. You don't mug world class players, get to 49 points in the league and have quite a good season if you haven't played some decent stuff. Not in this league.
  21. I remember when Euro 2000 was on. I was 16 at the time. QF Holland V Italy. I distinctly remember my summary of the game was roughly " holland battered them, Italy got lucky " Watched it again recently and whilst Holland were wasteful at times it had to be one of the best defensive displays ive ever seen that started with Albertini in midfield. They're awareness of where they are, shape. Italians attack the ball also, love it. My younger self had no appreciation of this.
  22. I agree with this. We won't be able to get shot of much of this bunch so the solution is a better manager, it's that simple. Successful businesses make ruthless decisions every day of the week. Sack Dean Smith. I'd air on the side of caution though when you go after a manager who's sales pitch to his potential employers is " I'll give you attacking football " Well, are you gonna give me winning football would be my reply. I keep harping back to Hassenhutl. Are they exciting, end to end, have you off your seat team ? No. Are they very well coached, honest of effort, extremely well prepped going into a game and tactically better month on month ? Yes. Are they boring to watch ? Absolutely not. That's what id want.
