  1. Maybe the rebuild shouldn't revolve around 1 player. Build a team.
  2. It's done. Yes, never a penalty. 60 mins left so stop feeling sorry for ourselves. McGinn should be hauled. This guy's fitness is deplorable, and wasn't much better before the injury. Talk of a big move is laughable.
  3. Never been impressed by Lamela. They paid big for him. Odd good game but there's a reason he's never nailed down a place in the time he's been there.
  4. Thing about Villa though, we are a reactive rather than proactive club. If the wheels were in motion behind by scenes during lockdown to make change you'd say something. It's what ,a 5 or 6 week gap between the end of this season and the beginning of next ? Lot of change in that time to get a new manager , sporting director and players in and out the door unless as i said we've been planning.
  5. Ake. What's all the fuss about him. Figures been bandied about for him months ago were nuts. Looks average.
  6. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but the 2 defeats to Bournemouth in particular is sore.
  7. I think if we get beaten tonight it's realistically going to be very hard. We'll need 8 points from 4 games as we have an inferior goal difference to Watford and West Ham. I think both of those have another win in them so even if all 3 of us land on 34, we'll go down.
  8. We need to approach it with the mindset that the next game is the one to win. That's all you can do. Can't look a week or 2 down the road. We get walloped tonight we could be deflated for Palace. We've a game tonight. That's it.
  9. Brighton have their finger on the pulse to be fair. Lamptey was a steal. Now they are close to getting the very talented Jensen Weir from Wigan. Disappointing with Purslow's contacts in English football he couldn't got Dan Ashworth as sporting director . Suso ? Does he even know where Wigan is never mind their players.
  10. I like Armstrong. Good talent. Can improve too.
  11. Hindsight is great mate but it's a 38 game season. The mental opening 10 minutes against Bournemouth. 2-1 at home to Burnley and bottled it. No ambition to have a go at West Ham at home. Arsenal. Been loads. ( VAR did **** us over at Palace and the joke of an offside that would of put us 2 up at old Trafford )
  12. The Lampard and West Ham rekationship was fairly toxic. Unlikeky. Chelsea were up for it. Made mistakes at the back. Fair result i thought. Chelsea going for CL also.
  13. Totally agree. If the players mindset is " this is a free hit " we will get well beaten. Tomorrow the kind of game this team need a packed stadium. That's a shame.
  14. Watford have probably got another win in them. If they get to 34 chances are Villa need to get to 35 with goal difference. Lose to Man U and that’s eight from four games needed. Hard.
  15. I wasn't going for sarcasm therefore why would i admit i was wrong. I meant it truthfully. Game in hands - only matter if you win.
  16. Like i said in a previous post though i don't think we are good enough to hold out teams, top teams. I certainly don't think we lacked for effort on sunday but our shape, sharpness in general, in the head and with the feet - can't see us keeping out Fernandes, rashford, greenwood etc. Wouldn't be at opposed to going as what's perceived " ugly " with selection tomorrow. Start Hourihane. He's not the greatest but he gets on to second balls and if Jack gets fouled and we win corners. Start Elmo, won't give you much going forward but he's a better defender at right full than Konsa and Guilbert. Has a decent range finder over the top.
  17. Must of missed the part since the restart where we won. My bad.
  18. I think if we get beaten tomorrow night, Watford will take serious heart from the fact they can put clear water between us and them.
  19. Or Burnley. Whatever about those 2, Burnley is an absolute shithole. Now that's depressing.
  20. The team who has 4 more points than the other team despite game in hands. Don't quote me on that though. Just my 2 cents
  21. Ah the old game in hand chestnut. Of course only ever relevant if you win said game. We play a United team who look like they'd blow anyone away right now. I could roll out hypothetical scenarios too. We lose tomorrow. West Ham beat Norwich ( both fairly probable ) West Ham Watford draw. That last game might not be as significant as you think.
  22. We are 4 points behind Watford and West Ham. They have those points. It's in their hands.
  23. In what way shape or form is us staying in the league still in our hands ?
