  1. The last point is the takeaway for me. He has to want to be here.
  2. Villa loyalty questioned by a stranger on a forum. Nice. No, im practical. I want the team to do well. Always has to be about the team. You are fawning over a player ( a very good one mind ) I'm not. I was devastated when Yorke left. When Barry left. We are a much better team with Grealish in it than out of it. Of course i hope he stays. We were much better with Yorke in it. We were much better with Barry in it. You move on and never lose site of the team , greater than any individual. My point was if he decides he wants to leave, I'd wish him well and then Villa kick on again.
  3. Where are you getting this from ? You got Nassef and Wes on speed dial ? Anything can be bandied around in the media. Werner is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe. 24. German international, and Chelsea have paid 48 million for him. Not suggesting we are gonna be lowballed but you don't know the fee, so....
  4. Can't see how you could do anything but wish the guy the very best to be honest. United can offer him champions league football. We will be building on a season of survival, we can say otherwise, but that's the reality. Exposure to an audience of many more millions of viewers in the elite club competition in the world. Put yourself in his shoes. I absolutely would love him to stay. He's our best player, but id harbour absolutely no feelings of ill will towards Jack if he decided to leave. Handing in a transfer request is more when you are at the stage where the relationship is kinda fractured between club and player. That is far from the case here. He won't hand in a transfer request. If he does leave, it will be all done amicably i think. Would hate to see his relationship deteriorate between himself and Villa fans if it got drawn out and messy. He's a good lad. Didn't cost us a penny but yes, doesn't mean they don't gotta pay us either. And handsomely.
  5. Delph going. Now that was sneaky. He wasnt even that good, not been petty but he had zero stand out qualities as player. His career since backs that up.
  6. Or longer. Downs tools. Attitude stinks. Players turn on him. So many variables. This isn't hull away on that Monday night when he said goodbye to the fans. He's far more advanced in his career.
  7. I'd be more pissed if we rejected a fair offer and the player wanted to leave. The knock on effect that has to squad harmony etc if you have a player who wasn't let leave, especially when it's your captain. Need to see the bigger picture. Jack isn't been disingenuous, he's acted with integrity and class throughout - he's never fed us crap or sold us down the river. He shouldn't have to apologise for wanting to further his career with a club who are much further down the road to where we aspire to be. Why should he stay to be part of a project that could take years when he can go to a club where he doesn't have to wait around to play with a higher calibre of team mate. It's a short career.
  8. We heard all this from us last summer and to be honest i think the same level of naivety is gripping a few here since Sunday again. Last year here it was " we'll comfortably finish 10th or 11th " with the players we signed. And we'll get it right this time what because Suso is gone ? Villa have form for the utter ridiculous. If Jack was to stay, the only way that could possibly happen in my opinion is if Villa are challenging or close to European football. Be realistic, that is not happening. Also be humble enough to respect where we are. It's not a lack of ambition. We stayed up by a point. You build on that and achieve higher next season, realistically and within your means. You say you would of wished him well had he decided to move on had we got relegated. I wish him well if he goes now. Kid didn't cost us a penny. Has cemented legendary status within the club. Villa fans need to stop been so morbid about the prospect of him leaving. Your a villa fan. Not a player fan. World will keep moving.
  9. Exactly hippo. It comes down to Grealish at this stage for me. What he wants.
  10. {85%+99%+(50%+50%+50%)/3}-51%-51%--51%-65%-10%-10% #UTV Can't say i miss these anyway.
  11. Or you might get a player who also wants to move. You have to factor that in. Now, he might want to stay. He might not want to. We aren't privy to this.
  12. But they probably will walk away. Not that im suggesting Villa are in the wrong btw, but this notion that we have utd over a barrel is fanciful to say the least. It's Man United. They have vast wealth. They'll go elsewhere. I think if it becomes very clear in real and not social media negotiations that there is a huge disparity in the fee between the 2 clubs, they'll move on from him pretty quickly. If it's close throughout they'll probably get him in the end.
  13. I think it simply boils down to what Jack wants and my heart is telling me he wants a fresh challenge. We've heard all the right noises from villa since Sunday , we don't have to sell, billionaire owners, better recruitment this time but it might just come down to the player and what he wants to do for himself.
  14. Lee Hendrie on SSN: "I was in a similar situation to Jack in the noughties, local lad playing PL and thinking about my career " Yes Lee. It's exactly the same.
  15. At least then more of a connect in terms of the same kind of player Smith would go after, and the new guy would. Was a very strange dynamic, working relationship between Smith Suso i felt from the outside looking in. I think Suso ( and it may well of been his remit ) was told to go after young players with potentially a good resale value in the future. I don't think how they played football was the primary driver in their recruitment. The guys Smith worked with at Brentford recruited making footballing philosophy decisions first and thought about resale later. Married together with s manager who plays good stuff also, it worked quite well for them.
  16. Maybe give Smith more control over transfers. We have scouts, presumably. You know for sure all of the signings Wilder makes at Sheffield United are players he wants and that he's looked at a lot. And you can't knock them, they've got more right than wrong. Only downside for Smith with this though is if results don't go well going down that road, will fall solely back on him.
  17. Move away from football manager and go outside. It's a nice day
  18. Why couldn't he get in the team though during the last few months. Benched and couldn't get a look in. That's odd.
  19. Abraham's whole reputation so far is based on 2 good championship seasons with Bristol city and Villa. In the PL, he did nothing at Swansea and still hasn't really got a look in at Chelsea. He's a punt in this league as much as the next guy.
  20. I agree. Need an upgrade. Not gonna get caught up in the emotion of yesterday. He ain't good enough.
  21. Good players can exist within crap teams.
  22. Lewis Cook is exactly the type of player Smith would sign if he was given control over recruitment. Gonna be an auction at Bournemouth, one or 2 bargains to be had.
  23. I wouldn't. He downed tools at Bournemouth when the contract situation started to flare up. Not a good look.
