  1. The figure tweeted by Alan Nixon that Wigan want for Robinson is 1.5 million now relegation is confirmed. Milan were gonna pay 10 million for him in January. How in the name of sweet baby jesus could villa not be all over this right now.
  2. I think live scouting will always be a key component in looking at a player but i think data and analytics are very important too and as the TED talk showed with the Brentford guy you don't make emotional human decisions when you've had some success and likewise when you are going through a sticky patch. I mean Thomas Frank went on a horrid run last season when he took over from Smith. If someone like the late doug was in charge of them, he'd of been gone long ago. Their data ( and they are very data driven ) was telling them otherwise.
  3. Remember how crap Westwood was for us ? And he was shocking. Dyche has an innate ability at making that team greater than the sum of of its parts. I'm Irish. I've watched Hendrick, not out of choice. He's a nothing player. Like Westwood, he works in a very efficient system.
  4. Interesting watch this. Came across it this evening. Thought it would be applicable as we are told Lange is a big data guy. I'd be curious to see how Brentford apply their very unique method if they get promoted but they might surprise a few.
  5. I like Linnety. I do wonder is he a bit on the small size for the PL though.
  6. Joining bayern wouldn't be a good career move for him in my opinion. Hickey only needs to ask Ryan Gauld how difficult it is to break into a big European side. Bayern have Alphonso Davies there at LB and most likely someone else there too. He'll be bought and put in there B team in bundesliga 3, then loaned out, and before he'll know it he's 23 or 24 and never kicked a ball for the first team.
  7. Bologna are in for him too ive read so that makes sense. He visited their training ground last week. Apart from the lifestyle, can't see why anyone would choose bologna over villa. Then you've got the language etc. Silly move if he did that.
  8. He's a fantastic talent. Still only 18. Bull strong already. Technically very tidy. The kind of signing that fits with Lange's purported transfer strategy. Good enough to come straight into a match day squad. Sign low ? Yes. Can't see how a side who've been relegated, has serious cash flow problems and not had a live gate since March could play hardball with anyone when it comes to hickey. Villa could put real cash on hearts's door immediately, which they need, not incremental payments. For us ? Lots of potential, rated very highly and his market value could rise. Zero downside to buying hickey.
  9. Interesting. Looks a great talent. We'd have hearts over a barrel there. Relegated and no income since March. Business is business.
  10. I would air on the side of caution when speaking about signing Benrahma or any Brentford player for that matter. They are not your run of the mill club in how they work. Place massive emphasis on data and analytics along with live scouting and then coach a player into their way based on data presented to the player on where to be, positions to take up etc. I'm not saying they are programmed because they are a very creative side but players that join them are kinda shoehorned into their way of playing. Woods looked class at Brentford. Woeful since. Hogan was prolific. They find it very hard to adapt when they leave the " Brentford way "
  11. Would you take Lewis Cook ? Remember watching him coming through at Leeds and thought " he's a player " Because of his injury, inconsistent playing time and their relegation though, i wouldn't pay more than what Bournemouth paid for him. His market value hasn't really increased. He has to have suitors. Surely. People raving about Billing. Looks woeful. Slow, awkward and can't pass it 5 yards.
  12. I don't think you can understate the spirit and strength of the dressing room he had coming up through the league's and into the PL. Francis, Cook, Daniels and Gosling ( Tommy in fairness was a big player for him also ) Had a very strong dressing room. They represented the team ethos and fight on their backs mentality all the way up the league's and into the PL. I think as the step up in quality of the opposition has increased year on year, he's traded in some of the core values that got him up the league's and early in the PL years for " talent " who had no fight in them.
  13. Didn't flop at Burnley. And wasn't sacked either, he left because he wanted to return to Bournemouth. He arguably laid the foundations for Dyche to go on and succed and get promoted. Howe signed Mee, Trippier, Ings ,Austin and Vokes at Burnley. All played a big part for Dyche when he came in. His signings when he was coming up the league with Bournemouth were excellent. Ritchie, Pugh, Wilson. Gosling and Surman. He's got some horribly wrong in the PL but he's a good manager. He'll sit it out until Christmas i think. He won't be out of work too long.
  14. McCarthy absolute coward on the ball. Never wants it. No thanks.
  15. I've not bought a jersey in a few years. The black under armour away one last i got. Personally find the noise about the new jerseys a bit jarring. I mean, if we start the season and lost the first 5 games i don't think people would care what they were wearing and minds would be elsewhere.
  16. Think it's bang on. The new shirt sponser looks so much better and doesn't take up the shirt. Our jersey looked better last season during the pre season games without that monstrosity betting company thing on it. Colour wasn't right plus it was huge. This is spot on. Nice and tidy.
  17. Exactly. Brentford have access also to Matthew Benham's smartodds company for data and analysis. That's a pretty big company.
  18. He's probably the kind of guy Smith would be more suited to than Suso. From what im reading he's pretty big on data and analytics, Brentford guys were big into this. Interesting. Will see.
  19. Had a career as a prominent botanist according to wiki oh and he's dead since 1838.
  20. Has Edens hands all over it this one. Lange is very big on data and analytics which Edens is a big fan of.
  21. We are so weak out wide. Zero reason why we shouldn't be able to bid and get david brooks in my opinion given where both clubs are now.
  22. Exactly. Need top quality striker now. No more leaps of faith. Or investing in " potential " for that position. Wesley - not overly impressed but might come good. Samatta, i'd bin him. If we could recoup half of what we got for him this summer, I'd take it. He's shocking.
  23. A major part of his game for me is his ability to run with the ball, take on a player, go past him or invariably end up getting a free. Massive emphasis these days with top teams on pressing players who are in possession. Two options, either technically brilliant and patient enough on the ball to pass through a press or you've got a Jack Grealish who when you press him, you'll foul him or he'll glide past you. His core and leg strength too are underrated. I've not seen many in the last 2 to 3 years take the ball off him cleanly. Other teams think because he gets fouled a lot he is weak which is untrue. Grealish rarely gets the ball taken off him unless he is fouled.
