    So would I but I don’t rate any of them that highly. Plus I think a defence needs time to settle. It doesn’t help to have to chop and change every week. Once Taylor is back I would go Hutton, Elphick, Chester Taylor. Along with new keeper the might be to able to build an understanding. lets see where we are by the end of Jan before we get to critical of Smiths system.

    I think Mcginn and Grealish have it to be fair. But it seems more apparent when you have the ability to back it up.

    I honestly searched for them Tro and can’t find anything online apart from one I posted which was lame. Anyway keeping on topic. People will soon turn on Smith if results don’t turn. I have no doubt about that.

    I think Klopp and Pep can look funny at times too but that Sherwood one is the pick of the bunch. I don’t really get why @TRO taking it so to heart. Yes we need a game and a proper one at that. Not an FA cup game!

    He wasn’t even struggling at that time. I think it was the third game of the season and we were 2-0 up. You could show that clip to somebody that has never heard of Sherwood or Villa and they would find it funny. Not sure why it’s bothering you so much. edit: just showed it to the missus who knows nothing about football and she found it amusing.

    So let me get this straight. 3 players deemed not good by our last defensive minded manager are better than those that Bruce had in his defence. So it must be the tactics that’s the problem? Ok fair enough.

    Tro you’re point is valid but that particular clip against Leicester is hilarious. At the end it’s like he doesn’t even know what he is doing himself with his arm waving. It’s bizarre there’s a quite a few unbiased funny articles about it on the net that have nothing to do with villa fans having a dig.

    Because it was a response to @Pimlico_Villa that questioned if the system of the manager is the issue with conceding goals rather than the players. So it’s a valid question to ask. Why was the defence also poor under Bruce if the players are actually good enough?

    We were but those criticising Smith are suggesting the players aren’t the problem, Smiths tactics are. If that’s the case then why was the defence even worse under Bruce, one of the most defensive managers around?

    Ok fair enough, that was probably not accurate but his defensive record is still better than Bruce’s even though 2 of his favoured back 4 have missed the last 4 games. He hasn’t improved the defence but he hasn’t made it worse either. How do you explain that?

    If it was just the system we wouldn’t have had one on the worst defences in the league for Bruce’s 12 games in charge. Many of the goals we have conceded have been avoidable. Teams arent creating Shed loads of clear cut changes against us since Smith has took over. Edit: take this back. We’ve been poor at the back under Smith.

    To be fair you do have a point. He does talk a good game. But I think he’s allowed too until he can get some of his own players in. In terms of performances and results you’re being harsh. I only think we have deserved to lose one game since he took over and that was against Leeds. We should have beaten WBA and got 4 points against QPR instead of 1. We should have got a point against Norwich. The results will come because the performances haven’t been bad. We are creating a lot of chances every game.

    In terms of Villa I’m not bothered about his injury. I think he is a very average to poor keeper at this level. I don’t think he would have played again this season anyway. Generally as a person thought I feel for him and hope he recovers quickly.

    Don’t think we would have appealed to him to be honest. If you were a top manager would you want to work for clowns like Wyness and Xia? He went to Wolves because of Mendes and he knew they meant business.
