A lot of changes and it was a cup game so not going to get too carried away. But losing Tammy and also without Jack and Axel for the next 4 crucial games doesn’t fill me with hope. We have to win at least 3 of them really to stay in contention.

So do I but I think we put too much emphasis on players needing rests. Some players of top clubs featuring in all competitions can play up to 50-60 games a season at the highest level. The players fitness would have been assessed and if first teamers are good to go then put them in. In terms of injuries, as we have seen with Nyland and Axel. They can happen anytime.

It actually makes sense for Wolves to loan him with an option to buy. Like a trial run almost.

So this January we needed a keeper, 2 full backs, at least 1 centre half, a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder to cover for Grealish and maybe a striker if Abraham goes. It’s a lot but amazingly we did similar business in Bruce’s first transfer window. We signed a keeper; 2 full backs, 3 midfielders and a striker. All for about 32 million. (If count Taylor for the price we signed Ayew for). Yes we fell apart for a month and only 2 of those players featured in the play off final a year later but it still shows how much business can be done. Ps..did Bruce really say used to say he had no money to spend?

Not sure. We signed the keeper under Garde but he didn’t get a work permit. Didnt realise we were linked to Makoudi again. Doubt he will come to us in Jan having turned us down for footballing reasons in the summer.

If Chester has been playing with an injury he might be rested but there’s no real alternative. These games are tricky for coaches. You play a strong team and get injuries or lose the next league game you’re in trouble. Make too many changes you will most likely lose and get also hammered. Smith will need to find a balance but I think most wil accept Mcginn, Hourihane and Abraham need to be rested,

Sounds like Smith wants to field a strong team tomorrow. Can’t remember the last time we played in the 4th round.

So would I but I don’t rate any of them that highly. Plus I think a defence needs time to settle. It doesn’t help to have to chop and change every week. Once Taylor is back I would go Hutton, Elphick, Chester Taylor. I think Mcginn and Grealish have it to be fair. But it seems more apparent when you have the ability to back it up.

I honestly searched for them Tro and can’t find anything online apart from one I posted which was lame. Anyway keeping on topic. People will soon turn on Smith if results don’t turn. I have no doubt about that.
