  1. Fully deserved result, purely because of the atrocious refereeing. The performance, on the other hand, was as limp as a hourihane challenge.
  2. DS said that his coaching team had knowledge of the english market while suso main knowledge was the European one. Looking at the players we have signed, i would say suso didn't really identify anyone. Kallinic was already in the database and all the rest, bar guilbert, were from the english league. The jury is very much out on him right now.
  3. I've watched this back a few times and I'm convinced he did it deliberately. With the placement of his other foot, how he was stumbling and his leg span, you would expect his trailing leg to land further in front. It certainly looks like there is deliberate movement to go towards oliviera, rather than away from him.
  4. Jesus weapt! This thread has gone into the twilight zone!
  5. Id rather play elmo than him - and that's saying something!
  6. We don't have a player like Carroll at the club who retains possession well, Mings (for his height alone) offers something different from Chester & Elphick and Hause is a ball playing centre half - the only other one we have is a loanee who is currently injured. It's more about the different skillset they bring rather than a like for like improvement. As they fit the system better, then it's reasonable to assume the system itself will be more effective, due to fewer square pegs in round holes.
  7. In terms of helping defensively, as long as he is mobile enough to block off the passing lines that will be enough to help the back 4.
  8. Relying on an enforcer to do all that is a bit of a stretch. You win the ball back quickly as a team from fullbacks, midfielders and even forwards. Our fullbacks are not good at this and horihane is a perennial ball watcher. As for whealen, i have seen slugs move quicker.
  9. Westwood, Lowton, Bennett and Clark spring to mind straight away. Add to that Cahill from the Mon era.
  10. Some sense at last! I don't understand this obsession on here for a traditional midfield enforcer. When you play a possession based game, an enforcer is pointless, as you have the ball most of the time. Does anyone remember the FA cup final versus Arsenal?! Cazorla was playing as a deep lying midfielder and absolutely ran the show, because he never lost the ball and could keep things ticking over. Obviously Carroll isn't on that level but will fulfil a similar role here.
  11. He will help us set the tempo and keep the ball better. We don't really have a decent passer at the club, so will be a welcome addition. Dodged a bullet with Fer. We need to move away from bang average, aging players looking for their last big pay cheque.
  12. So I've just driven past bodymoor and want to know... Which one of you is wearing a hoodie and peering through a crack in the gate to see what's going on right now? Its either that or I've just seen a Leeds spy in action!
  13. I bet Luke's Organ is throbbing with the news
  14. With all this talk of signing Chalobah, I'm hoping that DS can make Thursday's deadline a night to remember!
  15. I hear he is merciless with opponents. That's why his disciplinary records is poor!
  16. So you haven't considered that Austin could be back up this season as Hogan and Davies could be going out on loan this window?!
  17. Out of all the rumours so far, i can actually believe this one. Fits in with the club's new strategy and covers positions we are actively looking to strengthen.
  18. Well reading his Wikipedia, his debut was at LB for Luton, against us, when dimatteo was here!
  19. Very much doubt we would be in for all the 3 considering 2 out the 3 are wingers and one is a CM. Also , Smith said defence is the priority this window
  20. A left back who can play CB, if required, such as Mings and a DCM/CM who can retain possession, has good passing range and can switch up the tempo. Anything else is a bonus.
  21. Smith needs to learn from this period. Thus far, he has stuck rigidly to one system, in spite of losing 2 players who were key to its success. Without like for like back ups the system is now too predictable and easy for opponents to nullify. Unfortunately the main weakness in it (i.e. Leaking goals) is still there. What DS needs to do is be prepared to be flexible when the circumstances become challenging. In this case, he needs to amend his aporoach to the players who are fit and find a sysyem that works without Grealish and Tuanzebe. If he doesn't then i can't see him having the consistency that will keep him in the job long term.
  22. To wet the appetite for young players no one has heard of before, we have been linked with Darius Olaru (CS Gaz Metan Medias) and CJ Hamilton (Mansfield) today.
  23. If only we could turn romantic notion into romantic nourishment, then we would take the league by storm
