  1. Blown away... I'm still in complete shock... Biggest signing of the last 30 years. Unbelievable that we've even pulled this off.
  2. Keep in mind, he would have fooked off to another club as soon as they submitted an offer, but it never happened because he wasn't good enough. Sure, he says now that at one point Spurs bid for him, but he turned them down because Villa were doing better and he was playing well at that point in time, but pretty sure that's just complete BS. After MON left, he only played well enough in a contract year, got a new long term extension, then went back to not caring about performing again. Nothing personified our mediocrity and wasted potential more than Gabby during that era. Absolute bell end off the pitch and a lazy fooker on it. Jed Steer is more of a Villa legend than Gabby will ever be.
  3. Also, one more important point, if we sign Coutinho on a permanent deal and he finds his feet again, we have a bigger worldwide star to market that Grealish ever would be. The exposure and growth potential he brings to us from a merchandising/sponsorship standpoint is massive.
  4. I'm still in complete shock that: We're even in the conversation with Coutinho to consider a move to us It's actually looking like it's going to happen All Villa fans aren't absolutely over the moon right now I remember the rumors of Martin O'Neill trying to sign Wesley Sneijder/Rafael Van Der Vaart and dreaming that we'd be able to have some pull for genuine world class players and crack into the top 4, but that never materialized and we lost our window to Champions League football. Almost 4 years ago we were on the brink of financial ruin thanks to Dr. Tony, but now we have the pull and financial might to sign a genuine world class talent, who was the 3rd most expensive player of all time, away from Barcelona... Our ownership isn't fooking around and will expect us to get into the Champions League within 3 seasons now, if they continue to invest like this. What a time to be a fan... UTF'nV!!!
  5. We already are.... We really are a miserable lot, aren't we?
  6. Our xG is 16th in the Premier League, but our xGA is 11th... We've struggled to create quality chances all season, but especially since Gerrard came on. You could argue he's exactly what we need...
  7. He would be THE BIGGEST meltdown signing of all time.... The guy was the 3rd most expensive transfer of all time... But still not good enough for some Villa fans.
  8. Dan Bardell said someone at Villa basically confirmed this to him. I think he said this in an interview with a Norwich supporter after Smith signed for them.
  9. Because he never: Breaks any stories himself or goes out on a limb at all - lots of ambiguity and outs on stuff he posts Only regurgitates stories at least 2 other journalists have stories on already Never commits to anything being a done deal until it's obvious the deal is done and dusted
  10. Was wondering how long it would take for him to regurgitate what others have said...
  11. Yeah... I watched him for Bayern on loan 2 seasons ago... He was fantastic.
  12. Everything flowed through him at Liverpool, very much how Grealish operated for us, and just look at how differently he's performing at Man City this season. Now imagine if Man City started selling off their best players, swapped Pep for Southgate, and told Grealish he needs to completely change his game and try to be Mason Mount in order to get into the team... It's a bit like what Coutinho has had to deal with at Barcelona. He was fantastic at Bayern 2 years ago, so I have complete faith that Gerrard will get his desire and hunger back, as well to play to his strengths. Coutinho would be the biggest meltdown signing in the history of Aston Villa and could arguably end up being our Robinho and signal the beginning of a dramatic shift in quality of players we're able to recruit to the team.
  13. Difference is that Mourinho didn't want Bale, Levy did...
  14. This... The guy is a bullshit merchant.
  15. Digne is class. He's an upgrade on Targett and Gerrard's system will require better fullbacks than the Mattys. Not sure he fits the model we're going after, though, but then again, Ings didn't either. He'll cost us a lot in wages and would be our highest paid player, but I don't think he'd be our best player in terms of the squad.
  16. "Buendia gives the ball away..." Ings literally makes the exact same run for the exact same through ball from Buendia minutes apart to get the goal... Can't please some people...
  17. McGinn is a fooking gladiator. Buendia is on a completely different level from the rest of the team and he's catching them sleeping with some of these passes.
  18. So we've had approaches but haven't talked to Ajax yet... Can't believe people still think this guy is a Tier 1 journalist. All kinds of ambiguous nonsense like this then rushes to tap in an obvious story just before the official source announces it.
  19. See below for the comments I was referring to which were posted before the "What if Newcastle threw stupid money at us for him" type speculation...
  20. Baffled by people calling for Mings to be sold. He is no where near being the weakest link in this team. He is an England international in his prime, who is an extremely intelligent and respected leader in the dressing room. I don't see anyone higher up than us in the table coming in for him and I don't see Newcastle bidding stupid money for him. He makes the occasional mistake on the pitch, but he more than makes up for it off of it. I can see him turning into more of a rotational type player in a few seasons if he doesn't progress with us up the table (Think Wes Morgan and Leicester), but he's one of the few names absolutely nailed on the teamsheet every week for me, right behind Martinez and McGinn.
  21. On the other hand, he could also be a Robinho-type signing for us and kick start a new wave of higher profile signings at Villa Park. Not saying I'm sure he would be a success, but Gerrard played with him and knows what he is like as a teammate and on the training ground. If he wants him badly enough for him to be our record signing by quite a bit, I'm 100% for it.
  22. Digne is reportedly on £120k/week and will demand much more than that with his new contract. Ings is currently our highest paid player and is supposedly on a similar amount as it is...
  23. Lukaku has a blinder every time he plays against us... You almost expect it at this point.
