  1. This is going to sound stupid, but how far does light from the earth travel? LIke when you look at stars and they say your seeing that star as it was so many million years ago if it was possible and you were stand in the right place in the universe could you see the earth as it was in various stages of the past depending on how far away you were. Would be strange to look and see a world and be able to say as you see it that we are seeing the earth as it was so many years ago. Probably a load of rubbish. If I was to stand (float) in the right place in the universe could I see the earth as it was when dead relatives walked it?
  2. I can match that. I was once swinging a cricket bat around in my garden (I'm from Oxford, ok) and it was dark, so I didn't see the clothes line that I promptly swung the bat into which then sprung back, whacked me on the head and left me concussed. Mine was in broad daylight, although I imagine the clothesline was see-through.
  3. I want a version so SAWII with this on. My favorite Aphex song.
  4. A Report on the Party and the Guests, really alright film, not bad.
  5. I remember somehow managing to run into a taut clothesline the once I'd threw my head back running at full tilt then suddenly sprang backwards like a plank of wood and ended up on my back,
  6. The first time I looked in a non-reversing mirror I couldn't believe how different i looked, I was pretty sad about it. Although I have since read that how we see ourselves in a normal mirror is closer to how people actually see us, and how we see ourselves in a non-reversing mirror is how people would see us if they looked at us in a normal mirror. There's scientific reasoning behind that I can't remember though.
  7. I was walking high up on some hills when I looked at the long path then I looked down the side of the hill and thought I knew which way would be quicker, so I went off the path and down the side of the hill trouble was that it was too steep so I ended up gaining loads of momentum and I couldn't stop myself charging down at full speed with my arms flailing pretty hysterically and I was heading for a stream, I tried to use the speed I built up to jump over it I nearly cleared it but end up half in the stream and half smacked against the bank.. There was a group of elderly people at a picnic, they didn't say a thing.
  8. I crossed a one way street today but looked both ways, a mistake I often make, it's really embarresing.
  9. There's that much in True Detective that you can watch episodes more than once and see things you didn't see first time around. It's a show where you have to pay close attention and that applies to me doubley I don't know why I just wrote the above sentence but I'll leave it as it is. I don't know why I just wrote the above sentence but I'll leave it as it is...
  10. Iannis Xenakis Electronic Works 2 Sadly can't find the full songs on youtube, hopefully these clips will do though. HibIki Hana Ma Polytope de Cluny
  11. You really thought it was "thing"? Jeez. I thought that was just a dumbass American idea. [1] [1] VT Americans exempted. Seems as though 'another think coming' might also be an American thing.
  12. I can't eat fruit gums, they're too tough and just get stuck to your teeth and you can hardly open your jaw after that.
  13. You really thought it was "thing"? Jeez. I thought that was just a dumbass American idea. [1] [1] VT Americans exempted. Even now I'm still having diffuclty with the idea, I'm afraid I'll never come to terms with it. It's not a phrase I'd ever use and I don't think I've ever read it used the 'another think coming way'. What if someone said if 'You think I'm making you a glass of water you've got another thing coming' wouldn't that make sense? Rather than 'another think coming' I'd probably say ' you can think again'
  14. A weird one I read the other day is that it isn't 'if you think that you've got another thing coming' it's 'if you think that you've got another think coming' I can't get used to that, I think meanings can change anyway what some people call 'the living language'.
  15. "Droll" means "amusing". Glad you enjoyed it. I also thought that 'Droll' had a similar meaning to bleak.
  16. I've heard that reading Russian is meant to be easier than you might imagine, I wouldn't mind to be able to read some ot the Russian novels in their original language.
  17. I've genuinly never heard of Bastille.
  18. Excellent resources for learning French are the Michael Thomas and Pimsleur audio recordings also really good is the French in Action TV series which I believe is on youtube possibly as close you'll get to immersion without actually going to France. Another good resource is the Duolingo website.
