The whole back four is woeful and Guzan showed again today he would be no loss should he move on, Collins was at fault for the second goal at least, last season both he and Dunne were poor and nothing has changed.

Mc Leish was the wrong appointment, it was never going to work, the fans will not support him and the team will suffer as Villa Park has become a morgue, the football is the worst since the Mc Neill days and there are no signs it will improve, it would be best all round to admit that it is not working out and call it a day, although Randy probably won't as it will cost him big time - end result look at SHA!

K.Mac is not the answer and Ancelloti cannot manage until next season as part of his Chelsea pay-off, he is likely to then go to Spurs. Mark Hughes should have got the job and is still available for now. I cannot see Randy admitting he got it wrong yet again and sacking McLeish,the problem is the atmosphere is not good at Villa Park as the supporters will not get behind the Manager, has his name ever been sung yet ? The team is now in free fall no style,no leadership and it is showing with the performances. Unfortunately Randy will not do anything about it,he has just paid heavy compensation to Small Heath so he is unlikley to pay it out again so soon.

Gary Gardner is already a very good player, if he was at Arsenal for instance he would already be in the team, this lad deserves a chance and the sooner the better. Whats the options in Midfield; oh Heskey & now Hutton!

If that was the case VR then why is he not in the team? I get your point about giving him time but it seems that AMc wants a more physical player in the midfield hence Makoun & Ireland not getting in.

I think that Makoun would be better off playing in another league, We do need to replace him though asap.

In 1986 we won our 6 pre-season friendlies, we then lost 6 out of the first 7 games and got relegated that season too boot! We have only signed 1 outfield player so little will change atm, hopefully the Board are not that naive to leave it as that, apart from a couple of players it was a reserve team out at Derby anyway.

Dennis Mortimer is the most succesful Captain we have ever had and has a great affection still for Aston Villa, I had the privelage of spending a matchday with him a couple of years ago and he is a great guy who has passion & knowledge of the game. He is only voicing his opinion, remember he was shipped out of this Club when Ellis decided both he & Bremner had to go and replaced them with Glover & Bradley at times,ending with relegation. Petrov is not as effective as he used to be in our Midfield that is a fact however atm there is no other option as NRC was released and not replaced, hopefully AM will address this problem before it gets worse.

Petrov is a 100% tryer and has been a good player & Captain for us, however he is now struggling to do the job he is in the team to do, I don't think anyone has anything against him as a person we just need a better player in that role.

Mortimer is only saying what the majority of Villa fans have being saying for over 12 months, Stan needs replacing but the club don't see it that way, any thoughts that Ireland can improve the midfield will also end in failure. Palacious of Spurs would be ideal if Randy would only spend some more cash.

General, It is difficult to understand how signing just one outfield player will be enough to push for trophies even taking into account using Warnock & Ireland next season. Do you think that the young players we have are good enough for the top 6 challenge taking into account injuries & suspensions?
