  1. Apparantly Ali Campbell has being giving McLaren Brummie lingo lessons.
  2. I have nothing against Gary Mac personally and I am sure he works hard & is a decent bloke but he is not good enough or experienced enough to become Villa Manager, now that would be a mistake to promote him.
  3. Central News just said Hughes & Mc Allister were the Favs!! Randy would'nt would he?
  4. Even more worrying he has come down to 10-1 for the job!!
  5. I am confident the Board will appoint the right man for the job this time, they want success as much as we all do.
  6. After this last season exactly the point. Well said
  7. We do not have the resources to achieve CL within a season, O'Neill flirted with it after 4 years but we are a million miles away atm, it will take patience to re-build, we need a strong leader at Villa not a fly by night Manager. Our last major success was down to Saunders, I see the same in Hughes and Moyes and if they achieve half of what he did we would all be happy.
  8. I said it earlier, folk need to be realistic about what Managers we can actually attract to Villa Park, not every man out there wants to manage our club. I believe that Hughes or Moyes for instance would bring stability and improve the team at the same time.
  9. It does not matter who comes in as Manager because Young will go anyway and Downing will follow given half a chance.
  10. O'Neill seemed to have the hump with Hughes at last years Player Awards Night when he commented that Hughes was not getting his job Just seems strange that the Week after Hughes joined Fulham Martin quit!! Coincidence maybe :!:
  11. I doubt that Randy will surprise us with this one, likely to be Hughes with Moyes his closest Challenger & Benitez on standby!
  12. Hughes is the red hot fav with the bookies still in fact odds on, Moyes & Benitez have gone slightly out,the interesting one though is Martinez has had his odds reduced as low as 4-1 at some bookies! Ancelotti has really gone out though as high as 33-1 with some bookies, not always right but they are not usually far out.
  13. There are Managers that will be happy at their clubs;Good salaries already, great relationship with Chairman,Board, fans & players plus happy in the the area that they live,we just cannot assume that they will want to give it all up to manage us,We are not the team we were 30 years ago and despite our magnificient history we are not that attractive a proposition to everyone as we would like to think. My worry about Ancelloti is Spurs will need a new Manager in 12 moths time,he would jump at the chance of going there. Hughes or Moyes for me as I can see possibly see Benitez becoming another Houllier situation popularity wise that is.
  14. I just don't understand the bad comments about Hughes, this guy is a young and ambitious Manager,he is a winner and shows passion which is what most Villa fans want. He may not be perfect but who is? We have to be realistic about what Managers we can actually attract and get down to Villa Park, we have no divine right to anyone. IF Mark Hughes is offered the job and he wants it then I just hope supporters get behind him and give him a chance and stop moaning. Some Managers may not be gettable or even want the Villa job, the obvious choices are not always as simple to get as we all think. Lets be more positive and think before running people down. UTV
  15. Thanks for that I won't sleep tonight now! Randy would have to be sectioned if he did that which he Won't of course.
  16. If we keep GH then achieving 6th position would take some doing imo, I just don't know who supporters on here think we could get, we are not a top 4 club so the best International coaches will not even consider joining us. If we can finish in the top 6 over the next 5 years that will take some doing in itself let alone pushing for major honours.
  17. Hughes is odds on at Victor Chandler, I reckon that he would love the Villa job and be good at it aswell. Hopefully common sense will prevail and we can move for him or Moyes.
  18. I think that Ireland & Warnock have burnt their bridges at Villa Park no matter who the manager is.
  19. I can't see Roy Keane being Villa Manager, too much of a gamble we need Moyes or Hughes who both would be ideal.
  20. Hi General, After the season we have just had and now Ashley Young set to leave, the club is in serious need of a lift, To re-appoint GH is only going to make things worse so please appoint a new Manager that will lift the spirits of the supporters and get the place buzzing again. I hope the Board do not miss this opportunity, another season of uncertainty will not be good for Aston Villa.
  21. Whatever Manager we may or may not take on will need to also have good coaching staff they are an important cog in the wheel, Moyes has good staff so does Hughes.Ancellotti is missing his ex number 2 Ray Wilkins at Chelsea imo, Houllier no longer has Bergues with him,he was the coach and master tactician at Liverpool. Anyone from Moyes,Hughes or Carlo would be excellent choices for Villa but I cannot see it being Carlo tbh.
  22. Moyes is a much better version of O'Neill imo - more loyal & on the level. He would be a brilliant capture for Villa and set the place alight again. The club is flat and needs a lift but can't see anything happening yet.
  23. If GH was to retire then maybe Moyes would have a different opinion, he is from the old school and like he said GH is unwell he does not want to hear other Managers saying "i want your job"
  24. What is the next step?we have hopefully just about avoided relegation - mid table stabilility surely is the next step is it not! we are a million miles from Champions league qualification we never took the chance when we had it eighteen months ago.
