  1. Good job you edited your posts so mine makes no **** sense whatsoever! Thumbs were slim enough for that weren't they eh? Eh?? I have been working all night and haven't been to bed since 8am yesterday. Soooooo, what have I missed? Switched to my tablet for a bigger keyboard! Just come off a night shift myself. Dont think theres anything new. No reports of planes landing or anything at BMH. I'm hoping to wake to news that its all happened.
  2. Apologies. Mobile phone and fat thumbs! Good job I'm not typing up the contract.
  3. It has been discussed earlier in the thread and the general consensus was that you are correct that release clauses are mandatory. I would see it the same way as you. Meet the release clause and there ahould be no reason to allow a buy back option. It would of course depend on the wxact wording of the contract though. There could be a specific release clause value if a buy back is inserted into a new contract and maybe a higher release value if no buy back. If he did do well for us, we could always try to negotiate a fee with Barcelona to remove the buy back clause. They wouldn't be able to insist we sold him. Unless we had a release clause too. Hmmm. This is all getting complicated. Let's just buy him and let him play football. We can get pissed off later.
  4. Ah. I see you have misspelt your name. Surely it should be sex bellow sound. I would certainly be bellowing after a kick to my soft and danglies.
  5. Well thats where you are going wrong. You are forgetting your trousers. But as its the morning after the night before maybe you will tell us that the delightful Ms Portman was more obliging than anticipated. I fully expect us to have it all wrapped up by January so that we can start buying for the Champions league in that window. I also fully expect to woo Ms Portman away from you by virtue of my ultra cool MC Hammer trousers.
  6. well, originally he was a right back.... And Sherwood seems to have an attacking philosophy.... Amavi likes getting forward... Tim had nzog as RB last season.... Is this to be our new RB?
  7. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/blog/scouts-notebook/78/post/2557924/barcelona-adama-traore-set-to-shine-in-the-premier-league Just read this. No real mention of where he is going but a thoughtful look at him as a player. A bit more realistic than a youtube video, I would guess and could add a bit of realism to those on here who think he is already the greatest player ever! Not saying I wouldnt sign him. He might be the best signing we could make at the moment but would need time.
  8. I get your point but Arsenal haven't won a game all season....
  9. radio 5 today on ian wrights phone in show, an Arsenal fan said Peter Cech was too old and they should go for Guzan... As far as the Man City mistake, I blame Lambert. He was the prat who had been training them all year to pass it sideways and back. It was only a matter of time before someone put the defenders under pressure meaning the keeper had to deal with it. Yes, he should have done better, but what sort of idiot trains players to play to the weakness of a player, i.e. Guzans kicking? And yes I know Lambert had gone, but that had been the coaching all year and was ingrained by then.
  10. I liked his attitude, he seemed pissed off that we drew against forest... Winning mentality that sherwood has spoken about. I didnt mean it as a bad thing, though I can see it might read that way. I agree with you. Its what we need.
  11. He seemed to me to be one of those players others hate playing against, always hassling and in their face. Did wonder about his attitude. I don't remember him smiling. He always seemed unhappy about something!
  12. You need to work on your Haiku Lennon a bit meh Not going to post on this Watch the wheels go round. Better?
  13. The reports seem to suggest that he's interested in joining but doesn't want to move to Birmingham and wants to commute daily from London. I seem to remember Pires doing this and the club providing a chauffeur. That didn't work out too well... If its a deal breaker, so be it.
  14. Lennon a bit meh for me. I wasnt going to post on this. was just watching the wheels go round.
  15. Just got myself excited because newsnow put a report of the copa libertadores up for Villa news. Oh, thinks I, they must have mentioned Balanta in connection to a move to us.... Read report and realised River Plate have a player named Carlos Sanchez and that was all it took to trigger the link... Balanta isn't listed as having played though. Surely that means he is on his way for a medical!! (And no, not at Citeh)
  16. I like Baker. I know he's not the best but I think he's been inproving. And most of his injuries seem to come from throwing his head where most won't put a boot. I like that he doesn't mind getting hurt for the team and I'm glad he's staying. That said, I'm not sure he will play much.
  17. ... well not until you mentioned it! If I can infect just one person then I feel my job is done Make that two. You swine! Me too now! And aint that a kick in the head...
  18. -----------Guzan Hutton Richards Clark Amavi Well, I get that far and... I sort of expect -----------Westwood --------Gueye-----Veretout with ----------Gil-----Grealish -------------Gestede But if Adebayor comes, should I replace Gestede... Or play both and drop Grealish for lack of preseason? Or maybe leave out Veretout, as he's just arrived and leave Grealish in... But maybe I should play Ayew just ahead of Gil instead and running off one of Gestede or Adebayor... But one big man leaves us short of height and there's Kozak to consider and... Oh... I haven't got much width, so what about Sinclair? Or maybe Bacuna for Hutton? And where am I playing Berbatov! I think my head might explode... We're Aston Villa. We're not supposed to have choices, are we?
  19. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj1flZIQKfY Rudy gets plenty.... adaptable surely?
  20. one thing stood out for me last season. Forget who we were playing. An attack broke down and they got the ball to the full back at the side of their penalty area. Albrighton went to close him down. McCleish was jumping up and down on the touchline screaming his head off and pointing at the halfway line. He clearly wanted Albrighton to get back and defend, when most would think defending from the front was the thing to do. Is it any wonder that Albrighton's positional sense on the field was affected with that muppet in charge?
  21. No. Because we wrapped up the deal with Genting late, only the shirts sold out of VP to begin with had the sponsor on. The first batch sent out to JJB, Sports Soccer et al didn't have a sponsor on so basically your shirt had been sat there for 12 months before you bought it That makes more sense as I'm 5.9 and nearly 13 stone! I secretly hoped id brought a kids shirt  I bought last years away top from VP end of may. £10. No sponsor. XXL. I wish i was 13 stone.
  22. Well he's now the favourite in many places, second favourite in others. The strange thing about all this is that before his odds started to fall yesterday there were absolutely no rumours or whispers of Benitez to Villa at all. Why would the odds just drop like that? He was way out in the 20s yesterday. Perhaps we spoke to his agent and someone from his side of things got wind of it, leaking it to a few mates? It doesn't take much to get the market moving. It is impossible to know who we have spoken to but YankeeinMadrid, who is mates with Cuellar, did say Benitez was on our radar. Or perhaps, because Martinez is speaking to liverplop, Benitez's odds for that lengthen and those betting move their money to Benitez for Villa
