  1. Think hes cup-tied. Scored a hat-trick for Preston in the FA Cup .
  2. "Tell us the story Grandpa.......Tell us the story of the goal we once scored at Villa Park."
  3. Notched more goals in the first half hour of tonight's FA cup game than our whole team has in 7.9 games.
  4. Plenty of managers out there to look at - Tuchel, Veh, AVB, Baup, Guidolin, Laudrup, Montanier, Favre, Streich, Gisdol, Luis Enrique, Aguirre, Girard, Gaultier, De Boer, Petkovic, Mandorlini off the top of my head. Not all would be willing to come, but some surely would. Everything about the way we play is rotten atm. People always seem to frown on managerial changes but it's often beneficial in the long-run. I genuinely can't see any light at the end of the tunnel if Lambert signs an extension anyway.
  5. Absolute utter shite!!! Lamberk out and he can take all his players with him for all I care. I was so pissed off, I turned off after ten minutes because I knew what a mullering we were in for. Relegation beckons.
  6. Bad news re Gabby. Strange to see McAuley and Jones on the bench for the baggies...
  7. Yeah, maybe they just kept the side we had against Pool. Would love Gabby to start, feel we need him to keep up the momentum.
  8. Interesting. Nick Mashiter of The Express & Star says no Gab but I hope he's wrong!
  9. Would be shocked. He's cost at least 15m (unless contract's expiring) and would have a plethora of big clubs after him (if it's Konoplyanka).
  10. Kakuta was looking like a potential future Ballon d'or candidate up until the age of 19. He was winning player of the tournament at most of the international underage tournies (same age group as Hazard, Thiago, Oscar, Griezmann, etc.) and leading France to glory. He has gone completely off the boil in recent years though, so would be a risk, albeit a minor one if on loan. Can't see us going for another young striker, but Dongou is another excellent prospect. Barca loaning him to a side where he would have so much competition doesn't add up though imo.
  11. You could also completely misunderstand what went on. He wasn't released, his contract was up. He was offered a new one but declined it because he felt it was time to play first team football. No one offered him a deal he was happy with so he asked at the end of the summer if the original offer was still on and he was told it was. Given got injured and Brad took his chance I'm afraid it's you who has completely misunderstood Bickster. The AVFC Official Site was among the many outlets to confirm at the time that Brad had been released just like Cuellar, Heskey, et al., and just like Reo Coker the previous year. Indeed, Guzan himself has spoken in several interviews about his pride at eventually earning his place in the side, having previously been released. Not to be overly semantic, but the misunderstanding also extends to what I meant by "released". Even if an unsatisfactory (in Guzan's view) contract offer was made, which Brad rejected, the player was still ultimately released. I was merely questioning why it wasn't more of a priority to ensure that such a good keeper (and this was surely evident in training) was signed up and assured of his importance to the future of the club. The shabby treatment I was referring to was, among other things, being dropped for the Carling Cup final in 2010; being largely ignored by Houllier; not being given a chance when Friedel was sold (despite years as a patient and impressive understudy); and, finally, being dropped after proving himself a more than capable deputy for Given (when injured) in 2012. My post wasn't intended to be a barb in any particular direction, merely as a way of expressing my bewilderment at how such a top 'keeper (Number 2 in the list of my lifetime) was so close to slipping out of our grasp without being given a chance!
  12. You could phrase it differently and ask how he could be released in the first place when surely his ability was clear to see every day in training. Very lucky he wasn't snapped up and I'm delighted he gave us another chance after some shabby treatment. Credit to Lambert also as you say.
  13. Top 3 1. Bosnich 2. Guzan 3. James Bottom 3 1. Carson 2. Schmeichel 3. Enckelman/Friedel
  14. Grealish's Notts County 2-1 up, Carruthers seems very involved for MK Dons and has hit the bar, but they trail 1-0.
  15. Not sure about the veracity of this rumour, but I'm not a fan of Darida. Only just joined in the Summer so I doubt it. He is an attacking midfielder and I think he is rated highly in Czech Republic so maybe some of our Czech posters could give more of an insight. Other players from Freiburg that I would like: Baumann (GK) Ginter (CB) Schmid (Winger) Agreed, Sorg might be more realistic than Ginter though!
  16. Was great last season, and imo would be our best midfielder by a reasonable distance. Couldn't see him costing an arm and a leg either. How reliable do you reckon your info is?
  17. This is what we should be doing with all our young hopefuls. Much better for their development than playing for the U-21's. Absolutely agree with this. Loaning players out is one of the things I've been saying we should do more of for years! Indeed, I always hoping that one goes on loan to Cheltenham Town as I go watch them a fair bit.... hasn't happened yet though They get a fair few on loan each season as well.... recent ones include Jack Buttland who pretty much kickstarted his career at Chelt and has been back a few times since. Also had Luke Garbutt (LB from Everton) who was decent but has been sent on loan again as he's obviously got Baines to compete with! Also had Shaun Harrod on loan from Reading last season but he wasn't the best striker I've ever seen put it that way haha probably why he got loaned out at the age of 28. Ethan Moore was at Cheltenham!
  18. My dentistry client seems to think he's determined to come!
