  1. Not to mention the actual goal that broke the deadlock, and probably made our players sh*t themselves because of all the unnecessary pressure surrounding this game, is one of the best crosses I think I've ever seen. Especially from an unassuming CM I've hardly heard of. It was undefendable.
  2. How flat is your back 5 if Torres is up by their box threading a ball through to Bailey? The formation was nowhere near the issue today.
  3. I'd trade that red for another 4 Spurs goals if it meant we'd have him for the next 3 games. Absolutely f***ing stupid.
  4. If we lose 4th place it'll be our own doing in the coming weeks. Not because of 90 minutes against one team. How we bounce back against Ajax is crucial.
  5. I couldn't care less if it is a stone wall red or not. Going in like that you're asking for trouble. I imagine he was trying inject a bit of bite into the game and our team/fans but that was poorly timed and reckless. I hope he gets a bollocking because he has no-one to blame but himself.
  6. That cross from Sarr and a mistake from Konsa/Tielemans killed us today. That and a red from our dimwit of a captain.
  7. I thought we played well in the first half and if not for some brilliant defending I could've seen us getting a goal. Tottenham, to their credit, were cutting out our passes at just the right time when we were on the break. The difference then came from a world class cross, I haven't seen many better in my years watching football - our CBs are maybe 2 or 3 meters apart and their guy stuck the ball right between them, and a calamitous mistake. After that and a stupidly rash challenge from McGinn it was chaos and we fell apart. The gameplan, which I entrust to Emery, was working just fine so he takes no blame for me. Not to mention the only half decent attacking player on the bench at his disposal was a woefully out of form Diaby. The players and a well oiled opposing side were our undoing today, not Emery.

    Tim Iroegbunam

Prior to tonight he's played a grand total of 42 minutes of first team football for Aston Villa this season. He's started in a 2-man midfield away at a rocking Ajax stadium where very few (if any) of our players shined.. and is getting shit on for his performance. Bit of perspective needed in here I think.
  9. We're gonna get a red here if we aren't careful.
  10. Can't hold onto the ball if we pass it forward, our player is mauled and then the opposition get given the free kick. Not a lot we can do really.
  11. 14 Villa fouls to Lutons 6. Is that fair?
  12. Our defenders must be **** shattered after every game with all the sprinting back.
  13. Our weakest member of our proper defence + 4th choice CB + 5th choice CB + our attacking LB. Forest with the wind in their sails. This is gonna be a tough 45.

    Tyrone Mings

It's absolutely awesome to have him back in with the rest of the team but let's not get too excited, he could easily still be a good 2-3 months away.
  15. Hang on we can't play Chambers or KKH in these matches? That could bite us in the ass couldn't it..
  16. In before the 'stats dont mean everyfin'. Yes, yes, I agree, but it is surprising to see these statistics. Maybe he got them the wrong way around?
  17. Pau, Lenglet about to become the slowest defensive pairing ever fielded in the history of football.
  18. He worked hard and would be a delight to watch in our 4-4-2 either on the left or as a 10 however what the rest of the team (and manager) would look like without us bagging that 100m does raise an interesting question. Who know's where we'd be right now but if there are Villans out there who hate him for the move it boggles the mind with the hindsight of Emery's reign, nevermind his personal success. You're right, he left at the perfect time and uniquely we've both benefitted — I'd trade Grealish for Pau, Tielemans, Kamara, Bailey and Emery in a heartbeat. 100m for an academy player goes a long, long way. A man can dream though, if there was any hope of bringing him back in the summer I say go for it. F*** it.
  19. There does seem to be a lot of smoke around 'if Hull City get promoted' and you know the saying.. It's not unlikely we start next season wanting to get rid of Archer while watching on with jealousy as someone else signs Philogene for 20m+ but equally it's not out of this world to imagine the clause being bullshit, Hull making it through the play-offs or us simply matching any bid for him if they don't get promoted. What we can confidently say is that Emery rates him and we'll do whatever it takes to have him back in claret & blue in the summer if it works financially.
  20. Surely we're not that stupid. He looked electric pre-season, and to then wager it all on Hull getting promoted? Doesn't make sense.
  21. Kamara will be tough to replace but you're on the money with that mate. Many of our supporters reactions have been, as usual, over the top.
  22. Early days but some positive words in here:
  23. Great post. I just hope Kamara and Konsa aren't out for the rest of the season otherwise we might get worse before we get better.
