The heat has gone out of it. But it started off with her telling the chair how he should feel ashamed and him replying "Don't tell me how I should feel. Let's discuss this dispassionately." Her: "I am being dispassionate" - she shouted with veins popping out of her neck. I'm staying out of it.

OMG This has started really badly.

We have a diversity department that produces a percentage of how many applicants are female, how many are of color etc. Our female percentage is low, but it's a job in the jazz department for FFS. It's blokes in tweed jackets and hats. Lots of hats.

I'm on a job hiring committee at work and everyone pretty much agrees on everything (job description, type of applicant etc.) apart from one woman. She is argumentative, annoying, desperately wants to be the smartest person in the room and no-one can stand her. We have meeting this afternoon which I was dreading anyway but at 6am she wrote an email to say that the search should be halted immediately as there wasn't enough gender diversity in the applicants. Her tone was so aggressive and confrontational. Emails have been flying back and forth and the meeting is starting in 20 minutes. I love my job for the most part but I find myself day dreaming about shouting her down and I hate this feeling.

Wrong formation. Midfield 3 all had awful games. Never seen McGinn play as badly as that. we knew this season would be up and down just disappointing after last week.

I think McGinn is not at the races and Ramsay looks overwhelmed- that’s the difference between two teams in a poor game.

Going from a (very dim) memory I think it was a Kendrick or at least a B'Ham mail piece. They would certainly have been there and the image they painted of Sherwood with all these printouts on the training pitch just stayed in my mind. I think it got put down to "a lot of crazy stuff happens pre-season tours" and obviously journos don't shout about it at the time because they have a season or maybe longer with a manager and have to keep some sort of relationship. I did meet Kendrick in the US and we had a long chat about how hard it was to maintain the relationship with Villa under the McCleish regime.

The story is that when pre-season started in Portugal Tim Sherwood and his coaching "team" didn't realize that they had to organize the fitness sessions - they thought someone else did it. They had to go into the hotel while the players waited outside and they printed out workouts from the internet. They literally came outside with the print outs and started the pre-season that way. We were an utter shambles from Lerner on down - actually only bloke who did seem to do a half decent job was Paddy O'Riley who was using stats to sign Amavi, Gueye & Veretout. If he had a half decent coaching team we may have had half a chance. Buyt at the same time we also had Lescott & Richards as center backs so probably not.
