  1. It doesn't matter what I prefer - being better than Lambert isn't going to be enough. We need to maintain our goals for - but seriously tighten up at the back - Okore at CB worries me - not that we have much alternative - what concerns me is the best defence we are able to muster might not be good enough.
  2. Don't be - were playing our best football in years....
  3. Do you not think we are then? Gifting the opposition goal after goal - falls outside of my 'playing well' Think people need to get a grip - were shipping goals for fun - Vlaar is our only decent fit defender (yes I don't rate Okore) - yet I keep hearing 'best weve played in years' - 'I reckon we can win our last 4' 'Swansea are a really good side' , - Dangerous game IMO...
  4. Since they stopped getting dodgy penalties - and Man City were able to out spend them
  5. not the way we defended saturday !
  6. Because they don't have many hardline supporters like Labour or the Tories. Because people are not used to coalition governments and ludicrously expected them to be able to deliver their entire manifesto. Because it has suited the Tory party and their friends in the media to make the Lib Dems the whipping boys of government to take the heat off their own performance. That's definitely part of it, but I think there's another part as well. I think a large number of LD supporters 5 years ago were of the view that they were a left leaning, "nice" party, who cared about the environment and the young and were pro europe and kind of open in outlook. Then they got into bed with the Tories and bad things happened. Bad things that LD voters most certainly didn't want to happen. People felt betrayed, basically, and the tuition fees thing has been such a weight on them, because it's like a beacon of that betrayal. Even though by and large its now seen that tuition fees were a good thing ...the reforms have not just helped universities, but they have done more for the poorest students ...and the evidence bears it out. Now there's a claim that needs substantiating! As a parent thats not my experience. It turns the universties into organisations that hunt students @ £9k a time ..

I also think for years - the Lib dems could conjure up policies and discussion documents, make idealistic speeches ....it never mattered they weren't ever going to be brought to book
  8. I'm not entirely sure how this works but are Hull less likely than us to go down based on them having a game in hand? That game in hand is against an out of form Liverpool We also have to play an in form Everton and have won 3 home games all season. - The possibility of Hull beating Liverpool and us not beating Everton is quite high IMO.
  9. Shy tory syndrome amazes me - wherever you go - theres seems to be an anti tory alliance - yet IMO they will win this election. The pollsters factor in shy tory sydrome, and calculate that a good % of 'Don't Knows' actually vote Tory..... Its a bit ironic really - the bad repuation IMO comes from the latter thatcher years - but these years are what many tories regard as the golden era. FWIW - I think Clegg will jump at helping the tories in power again - whether his party would stomach another full blown coalition is debatable. I think Conservative largest party - supported to some extent by the lib dems is the most likley scenario...
  10. I would think thats a reasonable projection. However if all goes to the last day, then those projections go out of the window - anything can happen on the last day .....thats why we need 4pt before that day....
  11. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hull beat Liverpool this week.
  12. Why is that? IMO we need 10-12 points in the remaining games, nothing less. Not a chance This. 4 will be enough. Wouldn't surprise me if 3 was enough actually. 2 wins would all but guarantee it. Also, if we actually need 10-12 points then we are down, because we aint getting that! We are playing well though !
  13. I don't think the decision to change the goal keeping coach mid season was a great one. Could have waited until the end of season IMO.
  14. Common myth - yes the football is better than Lambert - but the 'football in the best in years' - home defeats to stoke and swansea, a scrambled draw with QPR - none of which we played particularly well. Granted Spurs , Liverpool were good performances - but suggesting were in a rich vein of form is premature IMO.] Seem to have removed the quotes !! Sorry ! Here's my bit .... You are right that we are not in a 'rich vein of form'. But I - and friends who are villa fans - struggle to remember when we played as well and as entertainingly overall. Certainly not under lambo, McLeish, houllier, or at least the last season under Mon and maybe earlier. So it isn't really a myth to say its the best in years, just a reasonable assessment. What about the back end of Lamberts first season ?
  15. Notice the tories have gone up in the polls since Camerson said he supports West Ham !
  16. Watched the movie last night. (not great) Just a question - my understanding was that Northern soul had its roots in the early 60's with the early mods - 'True Mods only dance to Norther Soul' - However the film showed the rise of Northern soul in the mid 70's .......... I know the high kickin etc wasn't part of the Mod 60's scene - but Northern Soul was..... One for the really, really old farts !
  17. Northern Soul - poor plot, some terrible acting - not great. Shame would be nice to see a quality film about this..
  18. Id give him another season - but I would limit his involvement for the remainder of this, he is just to much of a liability - gives away needless free kicks in dangerous areas....caught in possesion .....anyone of those could cost us dearly ....

  20. Remember last season we beat Chelsea to hit 35 points ? - then went on a dire run - we were all desparate for more wins - which we eventually got - but in the end 35 would have been enough. I think 36 will do it this season. we to tighten up defensivley - and stop just thinking we will be fine - points (wins) are what what we need - not hard luck stories.
  21. Why else does every act of parliment need Royal Ascent ? Everything is geared to keep them where they are
  22. Basically that whoever wins the election is allowed to govern......up to a point .........Threaten the status quo and then you see where the real power is...
  23. Invest in walk in centres - not GP surgery's. Its not just A+E - thats the entrance point which becomes blocked - the problem is people can't leave A+E because there are no beds to take them - Its not really an A+E crisis - its a capacity issue throughout the whole NHS. Even if you pumped people through A+E faster it wouldn't alter an awful lot.
  24. In my world greater powers than Cameron would have a quiet word if he tried to form a govt whilst not being largest party. Although I accept your point officially he is under no obligation to do so.
