  1. I'm really not sure what Lerner could do now. Personally I think the damage has already been done. Even if Randy said "here's £40m, go and find the players who are going to keep us up." Lambert has stated he's not going for experience, so which young players with premier league experience would want to come? Randys ploughed millions in, but surely he realises if we DO go down, it will seriously devalue the club if he wants to sell. I honestly don't see where we go from here, but if we carry on as we are, we're going down
  2. Con - I can't fault you for effort in this debate that's for sure! I've already stated my opinion on previous pages and last nights performance hasn't changed my mind. The amount of times Bannan gave the ball away last night was in-defendable. You state he could have made 4 assist last night. Shoulda woulda coulda. Someone needs to tell him that he's not David Beckham and to cut out the 40 yard wonder passes
  3. To make the grade, he needs to establish himself long term like Gareth Barry did. Obviously we'll only know the answer in the next 3-4 years on that one. I take on board what you are saying about key passes, thats a fair point. I think it's also fair for you to expect midfielders to contribute with goals and assists. From what I've seen of Bannan i think he tries to many "Hollywood" balls when a simpler option is available. The Reading game also springs to mind when he twice tried to dribble the ball forward and lost it on the edge of the box which could have led to us conceding. For me, if we sign a quality midfielder in January, Bannan will be on the bench. Westwood in his short time here looks more composed and makes better use of the ball. For me, he's the one who looks most likely to establish himself. And Joe Allen. I don't think he's made it yet. One season in the Premier League, and signed by Liverpool by his old manager.
  4. Wow! Where did you get the impression I don't support any of our academy players? This is the Bannan thread, but for the record, there's nothing more satisfying than seeing an Academy player make the grade. In my opinion I just don't think Bannan is good enough and I'm not the only one who has that view.
  5. Read my post on the previous page. He gives the ball away more than any other player. Bannan is nothing like Modric. He's had plenty of chances to prove himself and failed. Like previous people have said, he's Championship standard at best
  6. No goals and two assists for Bannan in the PL this season. Considering he models his game on being a playmaker that's pretty diabolical. I think he's only ever scored two goals for us? (Vienna and QPR and that was a pen) Even Holman has chipped in with 1 goal and three assists. He's lightweight, gives the ball away too often, and doesn't offer much going forward. What does he actually do?
  7. For anyone one twitter, follow @AVFC_stats. Their last tweet about Bannan was after the Stoke game. It read..... “@AVFC_Stats: Barry Bannan has misplaced more passes than any other Villa midfielder this season, with 93 going astray thus far He's not good enough.

    Relegation

After today's "performance" we're desperate for new blood. What Lambert is trying to do is admirable but he needs to get some experience in. You simply cannot blood as many youngsters as we have this season and not expect there to be unpredictable results. You can get away with 1 or 2 inexperienced players the Premier League, but we've basically been playing our reserve team from 2 years ago. With the exception of Man United in the 90's your lucky if you produce 1 youth player a season which goes on to establish themselves. If PL persists with this mentality, I can see us seriously struggling. Last season it was clear there were three teams worse than us....not sure you could say that now.
  9. Hhhmmm. Let's see how much Randy cares in January.
  10. Yes he's playing out of position but for me he isn't good enough. At CB, even with extra time on the ball, his passing is awful. If you can't pass it from that position, how is he going to make it as. CM. Like many players in our team, Championship level at best
  11. Think you've hit the nail on the head. According to wiki, DB had made 47 apps for us. Decent chance Sunderland will be due an extra payment at 50 apps. For me DB needs to be on the bench at least. If a chance was to fall to anyone in our team, I'd want it to be him. He's our only proven Premier League striker. Benteke looks good but it's early days I'd like to think DB has a future, but it's not looking likely that it will be with us!
  12. Adult ticket available but will need to collect from Birmingham, PM me and make me an offer
  13. It's ok for them to have priority for HOME cup games for a number of reasons. Firstly, we have around 25k ST holders and with a generous 5k away allocation, that leaves 12k seats for general sale. Plenty of opportunity for everyone who wants a ticket. For away games it's the opposite, which means people who go to away games should get priority. Look, I have never said the Villa world revolves around me, All I'm asking for is a fair ticket criteria. Fans who go to the Cup games should get first dibs, that's all I'm saying. What's the problem?
  14. OK, let me explain again. ST holders buy their tickets for league games. I accept that as a non ST holder if I want to go to an away league game but I haven't been to any away league games, I will be at the back of the queue. That's fine. But, if I've been to cup games, which ST holders haven't attended I should have priority over them for future rounds. In simple terms an ST is for league games...cup games are optional. So as an ST holder if you dont go to cup games, you shouldn't get priority over supporters who have.
  15. Right... 1. It's not the first chance to go to an away game. Man City away wasn't sold out and neither was Newcastle. 2. It wasn't £20 for both games, not that cost should come into it. All I'm saying is that the problem here is the ticket priority. Villa say that if you go to the previous rounds you get priority on tickets, which is only fair. But for the Swindon game it clearly isn't the case. Not having a dig at ST holders just saying what I think is fair!
  16. For HOME cup games I agree they should be able to secure their seat...but for away cup games I maintain priority should be with people who have attended the previous rounds. It's the fairest way.
  17. You've missed the point. ST's are for league games. Priority for cup games should be for people who have been to the previous rounds
  18. Not happy about this at all. Ive been to both cup games and didnt get a sniff of a ticket. It states on the OS "Your attendance at previous rounds of the Capital One Cup will have a bearing on your eligibility for tickets in the latter stages of the competition." If that's the case then why are ST holders who haven't been to ANY of the Cup games given priority over people who have been to BOTH Capital One Cup games. Wonder how many of these "loyal" fans were part of the 15k for the Tranmere game? Well done Villa great ticket criteria.
  19. Anyone else seen this? http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/watch?v=7CSxSvIuibA At least he's got a sense of humour!
  20. I was told 800 on Friday. Wouldn't have thought we'd take much more than 1,000
  21. Benteke na na na na benteke na na na na Tune = the banana splits Simple and catchy. The other suggestions are good as well though!
  22. Won't somebody please think about the cashflow. Doesn't the season end early May when it's tournament year anyway? Surely the season finishing a few weeks early doesn't make that much difference. You could always start the season at the end of July?
  23. It would be better if the scrapped international weeks iring the season. This way, the season would end around April time, then they could get all the qualifiers out the way in May. It would be more exciting that way, and the international players would still get a rest at the end of the season, even if it was a tournament year.
  24. I'm not so sure Randy will give Lambert any money this week. Surely if the money was there, we would have been in for players earlier? I know we have been poor the opening two games, but can't see a knee jerk reaction from Randy. We were in the shit last January and he didn't shell out then, apart from Keane & that was only a short loan. Personally, I think we're going to have to go with what we've got. Just can't see another £20m Darren Bent signing and we're worse now than we were then.
