I've won the league with Villa in the first season with only a couple of signings, although it was on the handheld version. Haven't got the patience for the proper game.

It's still very early in the window, if this isn't the time where you can be patient and look for good deals then there isn't one.

No chance. He had a very good season this year as well, extremely impressive WhoScored rating, would hardly say he's done nothing there.

This is the main issue I have with signing him. His whole game seems to be too geared toward getting his head down and running and if he's around the box having a shot, no real finesse or intelligence, for £10-12M there are better players out there.

How so? If he has a 98% pass accuracy but the one pass he gives away is due to him being lax in our defensive third and resulting in a goal/great chance to the opposition this is a problem, whilst the one pass being an attempted eye-of-the-needle pass to a striker in the opposition third resulting in no harm done is not. Apologises if I've completely misread your point, I've had a few beers.

It would fit how I predicted Sherwood would approach transfers. Overly ambitious. I'm just not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet! Can't see it being anything but a good thing myself. As long as there are more realistic Plan B's in place as well.

Don't think the problem was ever really how often he gave the ball away, but where and the manner of how he did it.

Surprised so many feel he'll be prolific, can't see it myself. Hope he does do well though, always worked hard but ultimately just wasn't good enough.

This is a fair assessment. His problem hasn't been one of his ability but him seemingly overestimating how much time he has on the ball and being too lax, especially in our defensive third, on paper there is no reason why he couldn't adapt to the pace of the league and eliminate this.

Few threads on the Sunderland forum seem to think they have a good chance of getting him. Can't see, if we do still want him which it does appear we do, why on earth he'd go there over staying, hardly strike me as a club going places.

I'd be very surprised, and worried, if we got to the start of the season with Richardson as first choice LB. Not all business in the window will be conducted and concluded in order of priority, so just because we are apparently looking at a GK atm doesn't mean we aren't also working on improving other areas.

Don't think it's too much of a leap to assume a Stoke STH will know more about what's going on in their club, or at least have a better, more informed opinion about things to do with their club than Villa fans tbh.

Someone dismissing solid evidence because it doesn't assist their point, Yawn. I also watch the games, I was simply providing proof that we don't face a larger than usual amount of shots as mentioned, but if watching the games tells you differently you can believe what you want.

Well it's a matter of opinions isn't it, no real way to prove it one way or the other. There's a quite a large difference in mine though.

I also agree. If we improve the players out on the pitch it will make Brad's job easier and won't be faced with a rediculous amount of shots at him each game. We were one of the worst for preventing shots in the league last season weren't we? Well this is a fallacy, we are pretty much bang in middle in terms of shots faced. But 3rd/joint 2nd worse in terms of shots faced to goals conceded.

Why are so many people convinced that the reason so many don't rate Guzan particularly highly is because of one match? Seems a bit like because they have the opposite opinion it must be reactionary and poorly informed.
