  1. I would guess that a modern day professional footballer's first "goal" is to make a lot of money, followed by getting himself a good looking missus and then maybe playing for one of the bigger clubs. I guess then comes the part of winning trophies/medals and finally, playing for their country. My gaffer once told me that money isn't a motivator but that's bullshit. I bet most players would say, if honest, that a bigger contract motivates them to perform better.
  2. If they do own us will you be giving them a photograph of you? You know, something to remind them? Or will they spend their lives just wishing?
  3. The problem we face is that Lambert has lost a lot of fan support. Any potential owner would see that and have to ask themselves a question of whether it's worth giving him £50m+ to buy in 6 or 7 decent players to see how he does. Trouble is, that's a big chunk of money to give to a man who has just been through two relegation battles. I just can't see new owners giving Lambert another go at it. Besides, he's also lost his two main accomplices. We'd need to sort that out as well. For me, I think new owners would bring in their own management team. But, if Lerner stays I can see Lambert here again next season.
  4. Hairyhands would have! Before a ball was kicked this season, I sent a PM to HH asking how he was and what he was expecting from the coming season. I suggested that, with the way we finished off last season, together with the signings we'd made and if they settled in fairly quickly, we could maybe sneak a top half finish, maybe even 7th or 8th. HH replied saying that Lambert would take 17th if you offered it him before a ball was kicked. I guess HH was right.
  5. I think Fulham will win both games because their opponents have nothing to play for. I think Sunderland can get 7 points from those fixtures and, I also think Cardiff can get 6 points. I think they'll beat Chelsea on the last day.
  6. Agree with you about Norwich because they might beat Arsenal but can't see any points from their other game. If Sunderland win tomorrow it will probably be the worst scenario for us. That would put them 3 points behind with games still to play that they can get a decent return from. Our goal difference may also take a pounding when we play Man City so we could really do with a draw tomorrow imo.
  7. Earlier today I was feeling bullish about our survival chances. However, I have just looked at the remaining fixtures and it isn't far fetched at all for Villa to go down. Fulham, Sunderland, Cardiff and Norwich will all have a very good chance of winning on the final day because the teams they are playing will have nothing to play for. OK, so we will have a similar fixture at Spurs. Just saying that it's very possible for Fulham to get two wins and Sunderland get 7-9 points as well. I will really fear for us if we lose next week and two other results go against us.
  8. I sort of get what he is saying but it would have been better to say we have 3 Cup Finals. Sounds a bit like he has written off the City and Spurs games. We could fluke a point. Totally agree with the feeling that he should have said we have 3 cup finals ahead of us. if we **** the Hull game up he's gotta say it all over again. To be honest, i don't think he can see us getting anything out of the away games so he's definitely putting all our eggs into one basket, which is frightening. Having said all that, I still think that other teams will do us a favour. I can see Fulham, Norwich and one of Sunderland/Cardiff finishing below us. How important are those wins against Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea looking? Imagine if we had shown the same form against last season's top four? We'd have been down by now!
  9. I worked with Oracle for 3 years and it gave me nightmares. If the owner of that company does take over at Villa, I hope he can get us working better than his other company.
  10. No doubts in my mind that a deal has been struck for the club, Premier League status the only stumbling block. If the deal does get done, and the new guys only plan to spend less than say £50m,then I can see Lambert staying. I reckon Lerner would ensure he is given chance to spend some money, even if it did belong to someone else. But, if the new owners have plans to spend bigger, I would most certainly bet on a new manager taking over.
  11. The big question for me is whether the fans think Lambert should be given a season if big money does come into the club? Should any potential new owners give him a lot of money to spend on new players, to see what he can do with big money. Or, would fans prefer a higher profile manager who has experience of dealing with large amounts of money in the transfer market?
  12. Sunderland, Cardiff and Norwich will go down. We'll scrape 15th place and survive by a few points. Just don't want the same shite next season, or the season after that and so on.....
  13. You have to judge a team/players/management over the whole season. If indeed we do finish with less points than last season, I think it will inevitably mean a rethink about who should manage the club. Although I stated the above, if we don't get new owners or better investment, we do have to consider keeping Lambert, simply because he's kept us up with minimal funding for the last two seasons and I don't bank on anyone else being able to do that with such limited funds, and players. If a new owner comes in with money to spend from the off, I'd prefer to see someone else spend it. I would love to know what our goals per game stats are with and without Benteke in the team. Also, like to know our goals conceded with and without Vlaar. Those two, along with Guzan, are the focal point of our team imo.
  14. If we win any game at all I think it will be the Hull game as they will have their minds on the cup final at the time we play them.
  15. Can't see us getting anything from the 3 away games so the 2 home games will be huge.
  16. Does anyone know the true identity of Hairyhands yet? Maybe it's Culverhouse or Karsa? HH did say he was a Celtic fan and I think that might point to Karsa.
  17. I was dubious about Lambert from the off and based purely on how he picked players out of position. However, you can't help but wonder how any other manager would do with the same funds and players. If there's so many against him, why isn't there a poll of potential new managers yet? I'm not over supportive of Lambert but I just can't think of anyone who could make us better with what we have.
  18. Definitely relying on other teams now. Can't see us going down because others have too many points to make up. But, things need to be addressed to avoid this shit for a fifth successive season.
  19. Well, with the beast looking to be out for the start of next season, and with Lerner's and Lambert's approach to the transfer market, the nightmare might end in May of 2015 when we go down. Sounds dramatic but, as others have said, persistent struggler's always go down eventually.
  20. For me it has to be Rambo vs Millwall. For goals against us I have always recalled a screamer that Neil Ruddock netted against us and I think it may have been in the same game? I've had a lot of beer since then so forgive me if I am wrong!
  21. Holt should not be preventing the game time and development of the likes of Helenius, Bowery or Albrighton. It's a ridiculous signing to have made.
  22. It was a great result yesterday and we should all be grateful for that with the three games we have ahead of us. I don't think we can go down because it's clear that there are easily 3 worse teams than us. But, I still think we will struggle to get to 40 points.
  23. Whilst on this subject, how obvious was it that Hoolahan wished he could have joined the Villa, by not celebrating his goal.
  24. Don't know if anyone else said this but did you see him when he was waiting to come on? His stomach was so big he looked like a surrogate mother!
