  1. The club need to decide on an ethos of the way we want to go about playing and player recruitment and stick to it ala Barca Swansea, Southamton etc Constant changing managers with different approaches I believe is one of the reasons we are in such a mess both on & off the pitch. The manager should fit in & mould to us rather than vice versa, not coming in and starting again with a different style of play. Whoever has taken the job at the aforementioned clubs have come in and continued where the last has left of, tweaking & enhancing the squad & tactics in their own way still but within the clubs ethos and style. We were on the right track imo with Houlilier but then destroyed it all by appointing a manager in Mcleish who was the polar opposite in terms of approach and style of play. Then we had lambert who could never decide what he/we were about. Then Sherwood who talked himself out of a job with his perceived arrogance. He could of worked if he could of put his ego to one side. Now we have Garde who I believe could still prove to be a success given backing and time. If he is to go then I hope we continue in the same direction and get someone like Clement, Karanka rather than rip it all up and start again by appointing someone like Pearson* Bruce or Hughton or Moyes. I want to see entertaining progressive high tempo football suited to our strengths. But more than that I want to identify once again with the club and the way we play which hasn't been there for me since O'neil's counter attack play, which I wasn't the biggest fan of but at least we had an identity. *( I have previously in a moment of anger & desperation after another abject display put forward Pearson, having calmed down and thought rationally I withdraw that statement )
  2. That's the most frustrating thing about it all for me. If those losers had put the effort in and put in a few 90min battling performances we (c)would be in with a fighting chance. I can empathise and forgive to a degree the foreign players new to the league, who have wilted but I can't excuse Lescott, Richards, Gabby etc who are all seasoned Premier league players giving up and showing no fight. Good riddance to them!
  3. Can see your point but then isn't the issue players being forced upon the manager and undermining his authority.
  4. Isn't the issue that Downing was forced upon him and has the chairmans ear and been going behind the managers back? Hopefully all of those players will be gone. Karanka has experience of the league, plus has (partly)learnt his trade from one of the greatest modern day managers. Same case with Clement. I believe we are on the right path in terms of infrastructure being put in place. I personally believe we need a dynamic up & coming manager in the mould of Karanka, Rowett & Clement or Garde. To tear it up and start again with a manager of polar opposites like we have done previously with Mcleish would be a grave mistake imho.
  5. We've been burned enough buying players living off past achievements let's not start doing the same with managers. Moyes, Pearson, Holloway, McCarthy are not the solution imo
  6. Paul clement or Karanka for me if Garde goes
  7. Wanted him to work out but now can't see it. Too much damage has been done. I wouldn't be surprised if he's sacked as soon as our relegation is mathematically confirmed possibly due to a clause his contract regarding compensation. I'd personally like to see either Paul Clement or Karanka (if he leaves Boro) they both know the championship and are up and coming managers. Shame it didn't work out Remi but your time is up.
  8. Could someone please explain roughly the breakdown of losses? Is it a physical loss of £27 mill or is it to do with paper losses due to amortisation etc ? I work at Oxford United FC and was talking to the chairman this morning regarding this and he tried to explain it to me that it could be due to a number of factors all way above my head. He offered to go through the report when he has time to break it down to kindergarten level. But basically he was saying it looks bad on paper but these figures can be distorted and easily misconstrued so may not be as financially **** as we look.
  9. If that phat phuc Bruce comes near this club I'm done. Paul Clement if Garde goes for me.
  10. We should sign, David Button Rico Henry, Nick Powell, Jordan Cousins, Zach Clough, all championship experienced all achievable targets.
  11. Right manager wrong time. If he's gunna go in the summer dare I say we go for Pearson now. Instilling fight into these pussys. That's the level we will be looking at next season as no manager the calibre we think we deserve will go near us. Sad times
  12. Not itk and could be bollox but heard ( in the exec areas) that it was due to him leaking (sensitive & private) info to the media, also his criticising of the transfer approach, after he 100% fully backed in the summer. It was the talking to the media that breached his contract, hence his reduced pay off.
  13. Tom fox has said on record he only rubber stamped Lamberts deal it was negotiated before he arrived by Lerner who wanted continuity whilst negotiating a sale. Its well known that lambert had a clause in his contract stipulating he could've fired if we dropped into the bottom 3 and would receive a minimal pay off. who could of foreseen sherwood talking his way out of a job so soon. Only received a part pay off I am led to believe due to gross misconduct. Fools panel you say, yet amavi Gana Ayew etc (though have contributed to our mess) have been our better players. Remi I'll kinda give you, maybe right man wrong time. Tune will tell.
  14. Job under review according to the Mirror. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villa-launch-investigation-disastrous-740869
  15. I really just don't understand given the financial implications of relegation how the club wouldn't pay the £10mill for Benik (3 goals so far) Afobe or someone, anyone. Just **** clueless. I've defended him before but no more.
  16. Not sure if they've beaten us to him or not (nay never have bid) but wahbi Kharzi is close to joining Sunderland
  17. So your point is? Basically an insult to any true villa fan. Go support small heath then if things are so bad ?
  18. So Sunderland have signed lamine Kone...... Why are we always financially **** but they can spend $$$
  19. Crouch wouldn't fit into the way Garde wants the team to play and is about as mobile nowadays as Gestede. Couldn't stand him when we signed him but have grown to like him as a player over the years. He suffers from being so god dam tall, the easy & panic option is just to lump the ball up to him due to his height. He is more skilful that he gets credit for. When it comes to villa nowadays I'm a glass half full type of guy ( not always been the case) and until the window is closed I have faith we will pull something out of the bag in terms of a striker and miraculously stay up. Click is ticking though.
  20. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/01/26/report-aston-villa-join-race-for-ivorian-striker-seydou-doumbia/ Tenuous link at best but gives us something else/new to disagree on. There is also another article on there saying we should go for Matthew Ryan from Valencia, young highly rated and hardly played. Worth trying for a loan surely.
  21. Balotelli is exactly who we need to make our slow walk to the championships entertaining & more enjoyable at least. Throw in Ravel Morrison as well and who knows what high Jinks they could get up to. Shame it wasn't not happen.
  22. Agree we should be looking at Maddison, cracking player by all accounts. Disagree though with your statement about buying the best local talent, why limit ourselves to local talent. Surely we should buy the best talent available wherever they may be from.
  23. Apparently this is back on, if it was ever actual off.
