  1. Yeah I wanted to be bummed that they didn't squeeze into the EL to stretch their fitness levels but I don't think they'd have even made it past the first knockout stage anyways and the way they're playing... they are no threat in the PL. Of bigger concern is the pissing away of the 5th CL spot, but we'll cross that bridge as the season goes on. I don't see anyone besides Spurs beating us to the 4th spot should our form falter somewhat so that seems to me the team to keep an eye on.
  2. To be fair I am rather shocked both decisions went our way. We used to never get the 50/50 calls, soft pens (always against us, never for us), etc in these types of games. I'd feel bad about it... but naaaaah.
  3. I don't think being a boyhood fan and going for the ambitious move are mutually exclusive. That much is obvious; anyone who's dealt in the professional world understands sentiment only goes so far. I think the real frustration is that Jack seemingly took the "easy way" out when it was plain and obvious that there was something special brewing here. Guys like Emi and Luiz, et. al. showed their loyalty because they sensed there was a opportunity to grow into a contender naturally. It's hard to swallow guys from another continent showing more loyalty to this than Jack who'd been with us since he was a youngin. But maybe it was for the best? After all, the winner against City was scored by someone who was bought with Grealish money to replace Grealish. I will say this. He did give us a reason to love the club again after some really dark years. You can't take that away from him.
  4. I just watched Bailey's goal 20 times in a row. I might need help.
  5. Remember when the rags were saying he was on the verge of demanding a move because he wasn't playing enough
  6. I know it's easy to point at the Sky 6 bias and whatnot but City just got absolutely robbed of 2 points by that decision IMO, refs have lost the plot
  7. Yeah business done then for this game, the one bright result for us this weekend in a lot of ways lol. Provided they finish the job
  8. Zaniolo has been gash but tbf, there's been at least 3 times I've seen in the last 10 minutes where he was blatantly fouled holding the ball up and the ref let it go. That seems to be a big part of his game given his size so that's got to be frustrating.
  9. At the end of the day Liverppol dropped points at Luton the same weekend so let's not rue it too much.
  10. I mean, if the mark of a terrorist group is civilians killed, I think we know who's winning this one...
  11. The thing is our opponents have nothing to play for, while we've given AZ everything to play for in the last match day.
  12. Look man, beyond the debate of his ability, this dude has me asking myself questions I never thought I would ask.
  13. Not sure how I feel about a dirty tackle from our guy taking out one of the other side's influential players. But its happened to us so many times... have I mentioned how much Ben Mee can get fuckdd?
  14. Think that's fatigue getting to him, we really need Moreno fit enough to rotate
  15. This ref is complete dogshit, Fulham are shithousing but that's to be expected from lower table opposition these days
  16. Also that his Newcastle tenure seems a like for like version of Hughes' stint at City. Got good results but 5th-6th is his ceiling and Newcastle will soon move on for an "exotic" manager in a similar vein to Unai or Klopp. The guy to take them to the next level.
  17. They rescued a point against a team that'd be certs to go down if there weren't 3 equally shite teams around them while Forest are a known credible threat at home. Can we please stop the bed wetting?
  18. My Villa supporting life (which unfortunately started with McLeish) has consisted of our managers playing checkers while the others play chess; always out-thought and out-maneuvered. As much as I love Deano, even he was consistently exposed vs. top level cerebral managers. To be on the other end of this and watching Villa play the exact type of football I've spent a decade being jealous of is hard to process.
  19. 2 points dropped, but keep perspective; Wolves just grafted 3 points from the best team in the world last week. This was always going to be a tough tough game.
  20. I had a gut feeling there was a lot more than just salt and sour grapes to what Lestah fans had to say about Tielemans being lazy, slow, heavy legs, etc. And it turns out it's completely true. Dude is cooked.
  21. He clips Watkins' foot first, it's a nice attempt at a tackle and it almost lands but that's gotta be a pen right?
  22. I almost feel bad for Hibs as this was just utterly ruthless from Unai. Put the best XI on and kill the tie in the first half of the first leg, and rest. Job done. I didn't support Villa until the McLeish days (weird time to start I know) so I imagine for those that remember the Vienna incident this is just more demons exorcized. Unai, what a man.
  23. I bet Everton said the same thing about Sigurdsson and Iwobi.
  24. This has definitely been on my mind lately. How we got so little return for the Grealish money is baffling and a little disheartening, but it seems our new regime understands the value of driving a hard bargain and staying within a sensible range of what we're willing to pay for. It can't be overstated what a coup it is to land our 3 acquisitions for 65-70m.
