Everyone and their dog knew what McLeish offers. The decision to hire him was as ridiculous as the thought of Randy hiring Nick Leeson as operations manager for MBNA. The lack of any other 'heads rolling' suggests to me that it was Randy's decision - which is a worry. Clueless at the top - and the relief of McLeish leaving does not change this fact. Let us hope this is a lesson learned.

If at any point in his career he had done anything to suggest that he could do what you are suggesting he may, then I'd agree with you. He has demonstrated wherever he has been that his preferred methodology is to soak up pressure, and hope to win by nicking a goal at a set piece - hence the disproportionally high draw rate. What you fail to see is that the best we have to look forward to is more of the same, but done more efficiently. What angers me more than anything else, is that he is not even good at what he does best! If we wanted to pursue this dross, there were and are better options out there. There is no need to wait 9 months to let the team express themselves. They already are expressing themsleves. In 9 months they may be more eloquent in what they are expressing, but the 'sermon' will still be the same.
