  1. Thats the crux of it. Spurious criticism of the board by people bored with their lives just doesnt wash.
  2. Credit where its due Downing a lot better. I'd still haveIreland playing where Ash is.
  3. The managers programme notes - Sorry I cant be with you all this afternoon but with your backing and me on MyP2P I'm sure we can get the right result.....
  4. Just had a courtesy call off a very nice girl call Debbie at Villa to inform of the game against Blackburn and my seats were being held until the 10th. I asked her to put Gerard on but she said he was on the other line
  5.  seconded Why the shock? I still can't get over all the cracking play I've seen from Villa in the last couple of seasons. The 1-0 v Hull away the season before last. The 0-1 v Liverpool last season, the 0-3 at Arsenal, the 0-0 at Spurs, both games against Wolves... Scintillating, spectacular and breathtakingly brilliant from first to last. There were moments when we played well but scintillating.....spectacular.... Blackburn at home, Spurs at home where we played the entire second half in our penalty area, west ham at home and the classic display against sunderland at home ...that one took my breath away alright.
  6. The recent posts have just lead me to a moment of clarity. The list, as already said is totally uninspiring and some of the names spell danger. I reckon the board know that now and the longer time goes on the more likely they'll get someone in a job. I'm going to hang on for Martin Jol.
  7. If Roberto Danadoni wants the job then give it to him.
  8. So you know the full list of criteria being used by the board to select a new manager do you? Please share it with us all as no one else seems to have this information in the public domain. Plus i surmise you are assuming he would be cheap, cheaper than who exactly, and "malliable", i presume you mean malleable and by that, that he shares the same vision as the board as to the way to take the club forward? Paul Faulkners statement said that Premier League experience was desirable and I presume KM's three games dont really count.
  9. Very few bookmakers will take large bets. When I say large bets Fearless Freddie Williams would lay six figure bets at Cheltenham . If you asked Ladbrokes for £5,000 on say Martin Jol at 12/1 they would probably knock you back.
  10. He's not without a shout. Certainly driven and ambitious. Has probably learnt a lot while at Ipswich. Relatively cheap. Would impress with plans at interview.
  11. From the criteria given in Paul Faulkner's address, McClaren or Jol would be fine, there are others which could be disaterous.
  12. He didnt Jez, he did absolutely F**k all. £12m down the drain.
  13. The Dutch are forthright and a have lot of self belief. Koeman has been branded arrogant but wouldnt be any more so than Cruijff or Van Basten. Cruijff is a task master make no mistake. Koeman led the Dutch to a European Championship and there arent many around who can say that. (98 as a player) Any of those mentioned and Jol, would sort out any shrinking violets at Villa and I believe we have too many of them.
  14. You have to have two holders. Anyone who goes to the games will tell you Milner used to bail Petrov out. Which he's supposed to do. But as has been alluded to already with gusto Stewart Downing buckles very quick and big time. Against Valencia he jumped out of a tackle like he'd stood on a cobra. A friendly I know but a game where he was heralded by many. We're a pretty discerning lot as Villa fans and why they didnt go and get Flamini I dont know. Its not rocket science. NB Please dont come back with bloody wages there's a balance.
  15. That tackle on Noble was really crunching and I thought Noble was going to be replaced but fair play for carrying on.
  16. I said some time ago but this is a winning kit
  17. Should keep his place and cement the Dunne - Clark partneship.
  18. It was if the shackles had been taken off. Everyone played well except Carew who missed about 8 chances. We need a striker badly and a good one would have had a field day today. I would keep Ciaren Clark in now as he looks the real deal. Off the pitch the introduction of the new Expresso coffee stall and the wandering beer men are to be applauded in the lower Trinity.
  19. Sven now 7/4 clear favourite on betfair, not that it means much.
  20. I'm pleased Rangnick is on the radar. I'd rather him over many suggested.
