  1. Claret - First of all Bentley can tackle, not a holding player but he can tackle., as does Milner. Second I agree with your synopsis to a point and see another holding player coming this summer, replacement for Petrov or not. How's £10m and Bentley for Ash Young sound? (maybe not £10m but close)
  2. He could TRY and mirror Milner. Ive no doubt hed be a good addition to the squad, but if we're limited in who we can buy, then hed be a lot of money for a sub. BTW, im basing this on us on not selling Milner, obviously things change if he goes. I dont think we need widemen, at least not expensive ones and im guessing he'd be about £12m??? I think its worth remembering that Bentley can play in the middle very well, arguably better than wide. Another holding player is a must as Petrov is the only one we've got (fit) at the moment.
  3. PaulandDonya - Ok here I go (in no particular order) Arteta (sometimes) Modric Lampard Gerrard Fabregas Essien Malouda Fletcher (sometimes) I can think of any others
  4. Presumably that decent price is whatever they can raise by selling him off for glue? Thats the England holding player you're talking about there Dave..
  5. This much is true, however the point is the Premier League market isnt concerned only with the UK. Far from it the prem is sold all over the world and its this that a group like Tata would be interested in. I'm not saying Tata are or will be the sponsor but they wouldnt necessarily hang around while the big 4/5/? are held in deals over a number of years. They also happen to have so much money it would probabaly be a drop in the ocean financially for them.
  6. They're a MASSIVE Indian conglomerate, iirc. Should have money, at least. They've money alright. Just about into anything that makes it TARA
  7. Alan Kenneth Mackenzie Clark (ex conservative MP) was a walking connundrum. A nastier piece of work than his public projection/perception. He was however honest on occasions.
  8. What did you think of Alan Clarke? great band The Hollies........are they talking with the LibDems?
  9. Screw the economy and the lives of our boys in Afghanistan. Just so long as the foxes are alright  Have the tories said they will withdraw our troops from Afghanistan?
  10. Its obvious now that Roy Hodgson will lead the Labour Party/ Lib Dem coalition government.
  11. If the Lib Dem get into bed with the tories, Clegg will demand electoral reform, which will mean that Cameron will sign his own death warrant.
  12. I agree entirely. There will be another election within months.
  13. The constitution is quite clear. Brown as the incumbent Prime Minister can do deals with other parties to make a coalition government. Cameron can do the same. In the meantime the mandarins of Whitehall are in power, which in reality they always are.
  14. There must be another election unless Brown can rustle up the support. Especially considering those who couldnt vote.
  15. Just to be clear I dont like labour like you love the tories
  16. And if it wasn't for the Unions millions... Zzzzzzzz there are no unions millions ...try and keep up. If you're going to be patronising, at least try and be accurate. I see a Union and I see a 7 figure sum. "Keep up" Quoted from the torygraph do you not accept the tory campaign had a substantially bigger budget than labour.
  17. And if it wasn't for the Unions millions... Zzzzzzzz there are no unions millions ...try and keep up.
  18. If it wasnt for the ashcroft millions the tories wouldnt have made 260 seats.
  19. Brilliant wasnt it. May typifies the arrogant, stupid and ignorant attitude of the tories.
  20. and i'm an idiot please ignore post
  21. The thing with Barcelona is that, like Real Madrid, they negotiate their own TV money. As opposed to the collective Premier League deal.
  22. A Milner and Barry centre midfield wouldnt have been bad, would it?
  23. Mark Clattenburg named as ref. I used to think he was one of the better ones but he seems to have gone downhill. I can see him losing control of this one.
  24. No nothing like the 70's onwards. Villa Park is one of the safest grounds there are. The West Midlands Police have a healthy reputation for not standing for any nonsense. The other midland derbies are also well policed. In my experience, in recent years as opposed to 70's 80's, red scouse are the only pain in the arse.
