  1. I sit in M2 lower doug with the lad (age 12). Never had a problem in the last 5 years or so. Last year during the game they constructed a very impressive steel plated fence a third the way up the stand. Similar to the ones that used to be in the Baboon enclosure at the west midlands safari park. Dont be intimidated by them ...this is ASTON!!
  2. Thats alright. Nice stuff at times but opposition tepid. Milner/Ash MotM
  3. I presume Milner has got get out clauses in his contract with a £20m - £25m figure and clubs can approach him with some clubs named. He'll double his wages and I cant blame him for that. MON is going to have to be quick out the blocks  and I can see this is going to be a summer of discontent.
  4. Well done mate, it'll be great to see you!!
  5. Woody - I did have a slight pang of guilt when i read this post and I wish everyone could go. Some ST holders do suffer from 'familiarity breeds contempt', not all but some. I suppose to an extent I'm not as big a fan as I used to be, but its all relative. I've got bills big enough to sink the QE II. I took my 11 year old son to wembley to see Aston Villa play in a final and I wouldnt have swopped that for all the tea in china.
  6. I liked Wembley, served beer quickly at half time and before the game, had a cracking view and the atmophere where I was sitting was good. I know that getting away afterwards was meant to be a nightmare but I did pretty well and was back at a pub in Old Street with by before 6. there's been conflicting accounts of the service, like me, I waited for the whole of half time for £8 fish and chips and didnt get any (much to the amusement of the lad). In block 138 which was OK but the whole day cost me £350!!
  7. I know wgere you're coming from I used to be like you. Of course i'm excited about Villa in the semi final, my left knee and my bad back are not. Expense (which you're right I should have explained) is probabaly by far the greatest reason for not going. we only got 37k on Saturday and money was the reason. Its a semi final and some may have half an eye on a final. Did you go to the CC final because quite frankly Wembley was one hell of a disappointment.
  8. Woody - thats great if you can afford it good luck to ya Lack of funds is a genuine excuse, and a very acceptable one At no point have you indicated you werent going because you cant afford it. People dont need exuses not to go to a football game - There are a myriad of reasons why people dont go. Kick off time, geography, travel, expense....the list is endless. I've got to find the best part of £2k for following Villa in the next month or so, with ST's etc. I also have other interests outside of football like macrame.
  9. Woody - thats great if you can afford it good luck to ya
  10. If we win the FA Cup we'll get a hearty well done and a pat on the back with a nice day out. If we get 4th spot it will, if properly managed, take us forward for the next 10, 20, 30 years or more.
  11. He doesnt forget stuff in a hurry does he..? Sometimes I think he uses it to motivate himself. 'I'll show those fickle f*****s'. Edit: For the long term future of the club 4th spot.
  12. General - The last post ie two years hence is a good idea. Basically buying a season ticket and then buy the next one 1 year prior. I believe some clubs already do it. You can see how anxious some people are to retain their membership at a troubled financial time. (including me) Are you and Mr.Lerner still enjoying the experience of Aston Villa?
  13. Either win the FA Cup and finish top six or Finish fourth. Having said that I'm happy enough with the progress made.
  14. General - Happy Birthday, all the best and have a great day.
  15. Did everyone see him do the joke chatty chatty laugh with Owen? Dowd reffed the 4-4 game with chelski a while back - the mans incompetent to say the least. Why do the fa continue let refereeing standards to decline.
  16. Funny set up at the start and I'm still not sure what position Petrov played, certainly not the holding role. Nice to see Stewart Downing regain some confidence and want the ball.
  17. Kidlewis - Good idea, they're called Gameplans in the States and are used in Baseball a lot (160 odd games a season). Can see this being a great halfway house to season tickets.
  18. You dont need to go through all these pages just look on the Villa site, they are running a train too and you can guess where that is too :winkold: Yeah Villa train £39 LondonMidland £14 :winkold:
  19. No goal threat until Carew comes on. Hard work on a heavy pitch. Palace play like their wages ride on it.....ahhh the good old days.
  20. McGrath can be mentioned in the same breath as Baresi, Moore and Beckenbaur.
  21. I'm sure its been mentioned but Lee Dixon said last night that O'Neill was protecting our position in the league. I think this is true and an easier run of games will see us play a more exspansive game. Downing just not on form and sometimes if you sub a player in a rut it just makes it worse. Having said that delph was brilliant. MON has set us up for a go at the top 4. Interesting times ahead.
  22. The problem is in the question as to how one might define a god as opposed to an afterlife. By which I mean we are all capable of concience, guilt, hope, love and a host of other good and horrible acts. This is called free will and there you are given the possible act of faith. The best arguement ever given against a 'god' is by Dr.Jonathon Miller. He of the eminent surgeon, broadcaster, comedian (tenuous) and opera director. Colloquially known as a regular smart arse. It is worth seeing if you get the chance and was shown on the BBC I believe. I believe in a/my god.
