  1. Rodallega, Dorrans, Ireland and a right back will do.
  2. They did say Wigan, cant remember the player though.
  3. Bloody hell Paul, Paulo Rossi was one of the great players of all time. Apart from some accusations of match fixing and a three year sabbatical. Rossi played in the Juventus side that beat us in 1983 at Villa Park.
  4. Just as an add on to some of the above. I've read reports that Citeh are prepared tp pay Vidic £200k a week. Now if I was James Milner I would say you either pay me within £25k of the top paid player for the next 5 years or no dice. Fwiw Why they want to pay Vidic £200k a week is beyond me!! and they probabaly wont get him.
  5. so basically we have no ambition in breaking the top 4 when will MON walk , before or after the Milner sale ? I dont why I'm laughing I should of known better
  6. Nearly all of that is correct and common sense apart from the example of Jenas. Spurs do not have enough money to pay us to take him.
  7. Barry wasnt/isnt slow where did you get that from? Watching him for 10 years. You're not arguing that Barry was by any stretch of the imagination quick are you? That was always the reason given for his lack of England call ups, his lack of pace. Not quick not slow, at the same age I'd have said him and Milner were about the same.

  9. Doesnt really matter who if we get the good deal. Nice work by all concerned at Villa if true.
  10. Is it Investec? No need to answer its just a bit of fun
  11. would certainly hope so!! Doyle is a quality player, very interested to see how well he does with a good supply of ball to him.. I was hoping for something a bit better to be honest....should have known better.
  12. Another Villa fansite has noticed Fletcher close to signing for Wolves Here and suggests it paves the way for Doyle to come to us. It does hold water and wouldnt suprise me. As for Doyle ....well he may be better than we've got.
  13. That would be something to look forward to if Joe Cole came here...
  14. So we should sign Falco because of his scoring record? Remember Alfonso Alves? If the choice was Doyle or Falcao I'd have Falcao. For a striker, goal scoring is good place to start. Foreign players make good and fail for various reasons and Falcao wouldnt be my first choice by some way. One I would have taken a punt on is Keirrison, now at Fiorentina. Doyle is hard working and has a good first touch but he wont take us any further than we are now. I'd take Rodallega before Doyle and he's not a cert to score 15+.
  15. How many goals for Doyle ?? 9 from 34...... Falcao 25 from 28........ Now while playing Prem against Liga may be a bit more difficult you dont play for River Plate and Porto by being poor. By the way Doyle isnt overly quick.
  16. Stewart - where would I get a Yellow 69-74 shirt from? (Thanks)
  17. ^^They'll go like hot cakes down Hurst street^^
  18. That deal comes to about £30m+. I want £35m+ cash not the palyers and I think the club will hold out for it.
  19. Arsenal have never spent 30m on one player Thats because Arsene goes back to France on his holidays (Monsieur Hulot ) and finds five world class players hanging around a bus stop.
  20. Thats because he's 28/9 and Valencia are desperate for the money.
  21. If he goes then considering the bidding has eculated to £30m already then I'd want at least £40m. I do think that MON shouldnt put himself under constaraint by limiting his market place. Having said that I would sign McCarthy at wigan. There is value to be had in Europe and South America.
  22. Thats not easy to answer while the variables are still to be made apparent. A contingency plan in case anyone stumps up silly money for Milner must be in place. Bentley can play wide or in the middle and this makes him an attractive purchase. He could also be the sought of restoration project MON may like. If Milner went, I wouldnt be against signing Bentley, but if he stayed and say we had £20m net spend this year, i wouldnt go anywhere near Bentley as wed need a CF, a DCM and probably a full back before Bentley. Like you say, there are a lot of variables to consider though I agree largely with that position depending on money. I'm a firm believer that to keep Milner we have to show him we mean business. In that I mean same calibre purchases. This article is caustic to start with but goes on to be quite accurate. Mail Online

  24. Claret - First of all Bentley can tackle, not a holding player but he can tackle., as does Milner. Second I agree with your synopsis to a point and see another holding player coming this summer, replacement for Petrov or not. How's £10m and Bentley for Ash Young sound? (maybe not £10m but close) I know Bentley can tackle, but hes not a particularly good tackler and not someone id trust with a holding midfielders job. Theres no way id want Bentley plus £10m for Young. I still think Youngs our best player, if we lost him things may fall apart. I wasnt suggesting Bentley for the holding role. I think Milner is our best player and others 'may' have to be sacrificed to keep him.
