Seems similar to a lot of our pursuits this summer, just because we have money to spend we seem determined not to be ripped off. Ings seems to be the only deal we ’overpaid’ on but I think we still got him for a reasonable price.

The proposed compromise is fair, it’s not ideal for us obviously but they miss one game for us and one for them. We’ll just have to see what happens now.

I know what you’re saying, but then we could punish the players for reneging on the agreement and bomb them out of the team which would probably result in them losing their place anyway. This could get really messy, I hope that isn’t the case and the Emi’s see that the club have been accommodating and fair.

If a compromise has been agreed between the players and club then I don’t see what the Argentinian FA can do about it, it’s not national service and they aren’t playing for us instead so surely they are powerless? If the players go back on the agreement then we have a massive problem….

I know you put the club first mate, and perhaps the initial ’news’ coming off the back of Saturday’s match, where the injuries feel like they’re racking up right now, and it’s losing 2 more players for something you probably feel is unnecessary given it’s their choice. You have to remember they’ve already been making those sacrifices that we’ve all been making, but to risk their international futures is a big ask, we’ll it is IMO anyway. You have to remember mate, this story is being pieced together from a tweet from Emi, a comment from DS after the game and a few other bits. We don’t know the full story yet…..

This needs to stop, this is as bad as the DS thread! We have to stop getting angry about things that haven’t even happened!

I can’t believe how quickly a lot of fans have turned on him on snippets of information. Why not wait and see what the situation actually is before we burn him at the stake?

What would happen if the players refused to quarantine after their return? Would they just be hit with a fine or could the face a judicial sentence?

I think that a compromise has to be found, or this will snowball into something that could completely derail our season. I don’t feel comfortable with the players being told that they flat out cannot play for their country, but when this overspill from the international break threatens our ambitions for the season then there is a problem. Can these fixtures not be played in a venue/country which doesn’t require quarantine afterwards?

While I personally think he gets more stick than he deserves on here, I have never once read anything to suggest that it has anything to do with the fact that Anwar is a Muslim.

I don’t think Dean’s job is on the line unless we are flirting with relegation this season. We’ve constantly moved forward under him, if we finish mid table this year I believe the owners would give him another crack at it.

I think this is the right way to go about it too. I know we want and need players in certain positions, but if we can’t get who Lange/DS want for the prices we are willing to pay then best to go as we are. Would’ve loved a midfielder but quite happy on the whole with the rest of the squad once everyone is fit.

I made no reference to what was a disgusting challenge from Ben Mee, and I haven’t made a nasty remark about a player who I hoped could still be an asset for us, but at the very least can still have a career in football after a very bad injury. All I’m making reference to is how I feel a good performance in the game leading up to his injury has been blown out of proportion over time IMO.

Tbf the legend of Wesley’s performance against Burnley is pretty over the top IMO.

I really resent this notion that because I and certain other posters “see no wrong” with our manager, that we have some extreme view and do not have any criticism of him. I cannot speak for those posters, I can only speak for myself. Do I think he’s perfect? No. Do I get frustrated with him during the game sometimes? Yes. What I have an issue with is criticism of him after the game when we have won, and the dust has settled, and criticism of where we are currently as a club when we have just had our best league finish in a decade, and best of all - criticism over things that haven’t even happened yet! It’s not about DS being above criticism, it’s more a question of why would you want to criticise the man in the first place?

I know what you’re saying, but I would’ve probably said the same had we lost as I feel once we have everyone fit and ready we have the best squad we’ve had in a long time.

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve got to the point where I would rather we don’t sign anymore players this summer if the club can’t get their targets. I love a new signing as much as the next guy, but if we’re not getting in players that will improve us then I don’t see the point of us inflating the wage bill. Lets get to January, it’s the midfield that looks the most ‘concerning’ so we can re-assess then. While it’s not the best time to buy players, with FFP you tend to find that a lot of clubs need to sell to buy so there are bargains to be had.

They’re just very different. Ollie Watkins will cover every blade of grass in the opposition’s half, but probably wouldn’t have the technique to score a goal like that today. It’s a difficult shout if only one will play, I think I would probably go with Ollie for his industry, but it will be interesting to see if DS can get them both into the team without weakening the midfield.
