Yes, I don't believe in conspiracy theories, although they can be good fun sometimes. If we get Intertoto we'll see 6-8 new players this summer.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for us to bring in a better RB than Mellberg this window, but I think in terms of a short term immediate effect on our team, a RW is far more important. Mellberg is defensively very sound, seldom at fault for goals, has put in lots of important tackles and blocks all through the season and has also contributed way more than I had expected in the attacking aspect of the game with 3 goals and a couple of assists as well.

With yesterday's game in mind (and several others this season) I'd definitely say RW is first priority at this stage. Mellberg is more than good enough to fill the RB position until the summer.

Hmm, the Pompey game will probably end up a no score draw now, so we won't know whether the music's gone or not. Agreed. Last season Drogba was top scorer and he stopped at 20. Only three players scored more than 15. Drogba 20, Ronaldo 18 and McCarthy 17. If he reaches 15 it's fantastic. 16-19 would be amazing and 20 or more would be nothing more than sensational. Personally I think he'll end up around 12-13.

Mighty fine article, just an observation about Carew's pace that's all: Carew's record on 40 meters sprint (recorded at the Norwegian Top Athletes Sports Centre) is 4,67. That is only 4 hundreds of a second slower than the best time ever recorded by a footballer in Norway. I have read somewhere (but never confirmed) that Michael Owen's record is 4,80. Carew's fast, although it doesn't always look that way because of his long legs, giant body and somewhat "lazy" attitude.
