  1. Too right! Being able to trouble defenders and have the finishing touch and/or power is a massive attribute. Keepers can only deal with the shots that come their way but I imagine defenders will be thinking of how they can deal with CB's power AND skill. Incidentally, I wonder how he manages to beat good keepers at the near post so well?
  2. I read this far^ and thought he'd already gone. Don't do that!
  3. Also, the result and performance will help or hinder the tone of VT over the summer!
  4. Well, is the Premier League really the best league? Or do we just believe that because Sky keep telling us so? A few years ago I would have said it was... but the standard has been piss poor really this season. The Premier League has the biggest world wide audience. I suspect it is partly due to marketing and partly due to the football having a better balance of excitement and quality than most leagues across the world. Techinal ability does not always equal exciting football. Many english fans may ridicule the idea that it's the 'best league in the world', but there's no doubting it's world wide popularity.
  5. Watched on mute, great video, cheers.
  6. Knowing that our attack is decent (CB staying would help!), I'd take any win with a clean sheet!
  7. Will VT manage to avoid all the "we should never have been in this mess" versus ''where are all those who were insisting we would be relegated - FACT" arguments?
  8. Hopefully it is only the timeline that disappoints you!
  9. Jesting aside, I'd like to think 'the league' remembered our decent form in the final third of the season and took note of our 40 to 43 points as being more than is usually required to be safe.
  10. I pleased to state I managed to resist my insurance bet; partly because I kept thinking there's a reason why we were 100-1 against (i.e. it's very, very unlikely) and partly because I couldn't be bothered to work out how to place a treble bet online! Massive relief all round!

Do they have oblong heads? ;-)
  12. My head is fairly regular in shape and I'm not mixed race. Now I know why I'm not an F1 driver.
  13. Some might enjoy taking their mind off an event they can not influence. On another note, how can we be relegated tonight?
  14. Be fair, I've got criticisms and I've made them in this thread. It would be wrong to say I'm someone who is constantly gushing with unjust praise and never says anything critical. That's why I say I have a balanced view, but when I use the word "balance" it makes some sections of this thread go crazy. Perhaps you could start afresh and state who you would currently drop to accomodate Bannan and explain his strengths in direct comparison with our current first team midfielders.
  15. No! The question is again framed to suggest it is completely strange to say anything positive about Bannan's football. You must have an ulterior motive! I'm just looking at the stats, and some of the highlights and coming to a logical opinion based on those. Some of you guys are scapegoating based on misunderstanding his game, and some don't like us having a small technical player in midfield. The latter group have been complaining about his every appearance since the start of the season. I'm no Bannan hater, but I am aware of his limitations and the limitations of using statistics. I suspect the truth about his abilities and what he offers to our first team or squad, lies somewhere between the 'scapegoaters' and your good self.
  16. Con, please answer this honestly - do you know Barry Bannan in person?
  17. Belgium Guy, your use of english is great for VT! Easily good enough that we can perfectly understand your opinions whilst still providing an ocassional gem like the above. Brilliant!
  18. I can't remember the last time we sold a good player who didn't want to leave. Hopefully that means CB is here for another season or more!
  19. It is very poor form to end a friendship because someone explained why they were not comfortable being a best man. I had little to no choice to be best man for my brother, back in my early twenties. It was 20 years ago when PowerPoint wasn't even an option! I was a hundred times more nervous being best man than I was being in the spotlight at the alter for my own wedding the following year. My speech was just about okay with a couple of jokes (cue polite laughs), a couple of thank yous and raising a toast to finish. I hated every second of the few minutes and was relieved that I could finally enjoy the rest of the day when it was over. Between being more confident and being able to fall back on a few PowerPoint photos, I like to think I'd do a better job now; even so I'm glad everyone I know who might now ask me is already married!

How is the multiple bet done on line? I'm unsure how they are all together, i.e. the winning from Wigan winning tomorrow going on the other results required.

EXACTLY the scenario I have previously used (not on VT). I'd rather 'lose' a couple of hundred quid a year on unclaimed house insurance than see my house burnt down or flooded. However, if something bad happens, at least it's paid for.

Oddschecker.com is your friend I've used oddschecker to find the best single event odds (relegation), which is currently 40-1, but some of the posters were discussing better odds for the multiple match results (equating to the same tragedy) giving odds perhaps 60+ to 1. I thought it may be quicker to use other posters knowledge than work out all the combinations across odds checker.

Which bookies are offering the best odds for the combination of results should the worst to happen? I'd rather lose £20 or £30 to see us in the Premier League next season or at worst get my 3 season tickets paid for.
  25. As far as I'm aware, it is not possible to appeal a yellow, even if the yellow is a second booking. There appears to be no intent to harm otherwise it could have been a straight red. As poor as the referee was, mostly because Terry should have been sent off earlier, Benteke gave Mason little choice but to give him a second yellow. Whilst publically supporting Benteke and being wary of keeping his services this summer, I imagine Lambert was very annoyed with our Christian.
