  1. Possibly, but he'll sleep with them ever night until he does.
  2. Hope so, it's been a bit drawn out! Only in the world of internet forums. Imagine someone is driving from Brum to London and you know it could take anything from 100 to 150 minutes. After 2 minutes you text them - "Where are you?" "Just joining the Aston Expressway" is the response. 2 minutes later you text "Where are you now?" A text comes back - "About to join the M6". An hour later, your 30th text receives the response "Somewhere near Milton Keynes, I think". Your 50th to 60th texts are ignored. Your 65th text has the reply "In central London". The journey has taken a more than reasonable time of just over 2 hours but to you it seemed like a life time. Such is the pain of over analysis on internet forums.
  3. I posted last night that I was waiting for Downing to be referenced. I'm not sure the £50m quote was any more as serious as the £40m quote for CB is. In any case it was made before an official transfer request was submitted. I wouldn't be as certain as 'no way on this planet' we'd refuse anything over £25m. I guess we'll see, if he leaves for £25.5m. Hardly 'crazy money', imo.
  4. Hmmm... Mirror with very little football to report on. Mirror write a story about an in form striker, a very well known England striker, some London club and throws in words like 'stunning' and 'cash'. Mirror quotes itself and continues its own saga using a nice round large number of millions. The numbers 25, 30, 35, 45 and 50, written on folded bits of paper, remain in the bottom of a hat, ready for another day.
  5. Exactly. I've posted against those who are insistent that CB is all but gone and I've slated the Mirror for their recent Defoe BS, but I also refuse to believe the £40m tag until I hear/read it from the club. I'm also waiting for Downing to be referenced.
  6. I'd guess the club have made offers to AW and CB. Their agents will be insisting there's no rush to sign the respective offers and the players will know their options are likely to increase between now September. It would be great for us if they had signed already but it takes two to tango; three if you count the agent!
  7. You're disappointed he's been offered a contract extension?
  8. But if the right offer for the club and player came in, he would be for sale. I doubt the player or anyone at the club is a fretful as some on VT so I expect it will take as long as it takes.
  9. Congratulations. Did you hear the Holte's reaction to the recent marriage proposal at Villa Park?
  10. I'm glad it's over for you. Take it as experience that the behaviour she exhibited is not normal. Either she was the type of woman to avoid, and/or, as it turns out, her mind was elsewhere. Someone else already wrote, if it's meant to be, things aren't that difficult.
  11. Some assume that because he hasn't stated otherwise, he must be off. Waiting for all his options to be clear before making a decision to stay or go doesn't seem a possibility to some.
  12. Why not? The Mirror more than likely did. Also, whilst we're still discussing BS articles, it did not state what the value of the cash to go with Defoe was. The £7m figure quoted was the value the sports writer assigned to Defoe. I don't know if they now use a random number generator or if they are still pulling numbers out of a hat.
  13. I think you misread From what i see, spurs value Defoe at 7M pounds which they want to substract from the price of Benteke, then Spurs would get Benteke for Defoe + 17M Where does it state £24m?
  14. Carroll would pay for his own wages in alice band sales alone. I read it in a publication called The Mirror.
  15. I'm glad I'm not the only person who doesn't seem to know something about every professional footballer on the planet.
  16. I believe he has some dissimilarities to our Erik.
  17. Even if he wasn't on international duty, he would still have a phone.
  18. Getting worked up over a story from one single trash-tabloid sports writer is unnecessary. They make stuff up.
  19. He hasn't left or signed a new Villa contract yet so it is 'well and truly open' for him to move or stay this summer. The player and club won't make the definitive quotes you want because they are still considering what options are currently open to them and what options may materialise over the summer. Making bold statements before decisions have been made is pointless and can be contradictory. As inconvenient as it may seem, I don't see why we can't show patience while the player and club negotiate what is best for themselves.
  20. Even if it takes 3 months of you not being to take it, I'd rather keep him than take £25m. It is not clear that he wants to go. It can be assumed that he is considering his options, some of which probably haven't even materialised yet. Grow some! Grow some what? Im not crapping myself that he is off. Its inevitable. if not this season, the next. Lets just get it over with and move on. Summer after Summer we make a complete arse of something and we very rarely go into a season having had a full productive pre-season. If the offers are there - get it done and lets move on. Considering his options means that he clearly wants to go imo. Or at least, it means it does not definitely want to stay. What ever it takes for you to be able to 'take' a few months of mere speculation. Considering his options does not mean he 'clearly wants to go'. He might 'definitely want to stay' and be waiting for his agent to get him the best deal, but I think it's more probable he is happy to wait for all his options, including staying, before deciding. It is correct that summers involving contract negotiations, purchases and sales, speculation and often downright rubbish about players are common for our club and most other clubs. I see no need for us to rush to accepting the first offers, just to 'get it done'. I'm not sure he will stay any more than it is 'inevitable' that 'he is off'.

  22. Before we start telling spurs to 'jog on', there is every chance spurs know nothing of the article content. Jog on, mirror.
  23. What a crock of stuff. Guesswork after guesses. I'm conflicted about dignifying the article with a comment but doesn't it seem odd how they quote an irrelevant value for Defoe but fail to bother guessing what the 'plus cash' amount is?
  24. try to look this in his perspective.. A guaranteed first eleven player, a large contract offer and the adoration of singing fans should mean more than a DVD cover!
  25. I'll be surprised if CB does not know how much the club and fans think of him. Please don't worry over these silly things!
