  1. It was a dire performance and big things need to be done. That team is capable of more than that, and it's also likley to be augmented with signings in the coming couple of weeks. But getting rid is ludicrous. Lets see what the next couple of weeks bring us in terms of performances and signings.
  2. I've seen better halves of football.
  3. Edit, slower than a really slow thing stuck in concrete.
  4. Neutral I guess. I'm not expecting a disaster, far from it. I'm expecting consolidation, maybe a slight drop off, say to 7th. I'd expected a couple more players in by now (and I do get the feeling the management felt the same, it seems it's taken a bit longer for some targets than we wanted), but I'm still sure we'll get them before the window shuts. I'm also expecting the squad to grow in stature somewhat, having the players grow more into their roles. My feeling could well change by the end of the window however, dependant on signings. As it is though, hey, footballs back!
  5. As does Beye. Heskey chosen in favour of big John.

    Do you read?

Take the M away and he's brilliant put it in and he's abysmal imo Again for those that don't know, the M is put in his name for his Sci-Fi which personally I find impossible to read. His "normal" fiction probably makes him Britains most talented author (again imho) I started reading Excession about 2 months ago, one of his sci fi works and the first I'd read in his Culture series. It's a slog and a half. It's not even long. There's just something about it that makes it very hard going, I'm quite disappointed. I get the ideas in it, I can follow the story easily, I just can't quite get into it. I hit 300 pages in a week of casually reading it and since then it's been a couple of pages at a time before it gets the best of me again. I really do agree that he's absolutely brilliant in his straight fiction though.
  7. ISTJ, apparently. ISTJs are often called inspectors. They have a keen sense of right and wrong, especially in their area of interest and/or responsibility. They are noted for devotion to duty. Punctuality is a watchword of the ISTJ. The secretary, clerk, or business(wo)man by whom others set their clocks is likely to be an ISTJ. As do other Introverted Thinkers, ISTJs often give the initial impression of being aloof and perhaps somewhat cold. Effusive expression of emotional warmth is not something that ISTJs do without considerable energy loss. ISTJs are most at home with "just the facts, Ma'am." They seem to perform at highest efficiency when employing a step-by-step approach. Once a new procedure has proven itself (i.e., has been shown "to work,") the ISTJ can be depended upon to carry it through, even at the expense of their own health. ISTJs are easily frustrated by the inconsistencies of others, especially when the second parties don't keep their commitments. But they usually keep their feelings to themselves unless they are asked. And when asked, they don't mince words. Truth wins out over tact. The grim determination of the ISTJ vindicates itself in officiation of sports events, judiciary functions, or an other situation which requires making tough calls and sticking to them. His SJ orientation draws the ISTJ into the service of established institutions. Home, social clubs, government, schools, the military, churches -- these are the bastions of the SJ. "We've always done it this way" is often reason enough for many ISTJs. Threats to time-honored traditions or established organizations (e.g., a "run" on the bank) are the undoing of SJs, and are to be fought at all costs. Thomas (Christ's disciple) U.S. Presidents: George Washington Andrew Johnson Benjamin Harrison Herbert Hoover George H. W. Bush Paul Coverdale (U.S. Senator, R-GA) Jackie Joyner-Kersee (U.S. Olympic athlete) Evander Holyfield, heavyweight boxing champion And Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I'm not sure how correct that is though. I always struggle with these kind of tests because as I do them, I'll notice the questions either don't quite fit me and my traits, or I'll know what the consequence of each answer is as I do it and that tends to effect the way I answer them. Also, I think as a person I've changed over the years. At primary school right through to the end of GCSEs, my friends were people at school, at home I was with my family and that was that. Didn't really socialise outside of school, all that mattered was getting work done and done well, at home I'd read and think or do things of my own accord on my own. By 6th form I'd had enough of that and started socialising more and I came out of myself a lot and changed. I'm still quite reserved but I'm not so inherently shy and sheletered anymore. I think this test reflected a lot of my earlier personality and not so much of what I am now. Or at least I hope not because that personality sounds remarkably dull. Actually, that figures...
  8. Not a clue. None stand out to me as particularly nailed on for it, they've all got their flaws. I suppose Chelsea are the strongest but I just can't see it somehow.
  9. Radiohead - Harry Patch (In Memory Of) Radiohead released this this week, not sure what I make of it really, I don't think it's their amongst their best but the string arrangement by Jonny isn't bad at all, but regardless the sentiment behind it is worthwhile. Thom Yorke had met Harry a few yars ago and was touched by him, subsequently they'd put this song together and they've released it following the sad loss. Available to download here for £1, proceeds go to the British Legion.
  10. Friedel 7- Did the job, no worries. Lichaj 6 - He's not disgraced himself and done reasonably well, but still not ready for me. Shorey 7- No terribly noticeable, to be honest Cuellar 8 - Anothet good showing, good performance and not noticeably troubled really. Clark 7 - Impressive, didn't look phased at all, only flaws of his game being those that'll come wit knowledge at the top level. Not 4th choice fr me yet though. Milner 8 - Some lovely stuff from Jimmy. His usual sterling work everywhere, more interplay with Ashley, and a little bit of flair too. Really enjoyed his little swivel and body swerve that completely flumoxed his marker as he received the ball in the first half. Delph 8 - Working very hard to impress. He passes the ball exceptionally crisply and he looks like he wants things to happen all the time. Bloody rough tackler too, which'll need some work but he could be an absolute gem. I expect over the season we'll grow to have one helluva player here. Fantastic stuff. Gardner 6 - a little bit anonymous. He's a player I really want to succeed but not his best performance, outshone by Delph who seems to have a tad more quality about him. Young 7- Saw less of Ash than we might usually thanks to the increased use of Milner. It seems the management are very very keen on getting the wing talent to really click together and thus Young wasn't so relied upon. Decent performance from him though, hoping he can get his top notch delivery back. Gabby 7- Fouled a fair bit and was fairly nicely shackled, he rarely got the chance to use his assets. He also seems not to be able to jump anymore, his toes barely left the ground whenever he was someting punted upto him. Hope he can kick on again. Heskey 8- Good stuff from Emile. Scored the goal, worked hard, lead the line well and looked hungry. Seemed a bit more in shape to me as well, and a few others round us in the Holte. Albrighton 8 - Marc could be a revelation. He's got consistant delivery, a trick or 2, pace, and he'll try different things as opposed to Ash's constant cutting in and back. I think we'll see a bit of him this season and he'll be an asset. Carew 6 - We all love him but he can be so frustrating. He didn't have the easiest of times as it seems some refs don't think he can be fouled, but outside of that one minute he'd hold the ball nicely and the nxt he looked a bit lost. I also want to see him drifting to the wing less, he's a monster in the centre yet so often he wasn't there. Delfouneso 6- He's got the talent for sure, couple of golden chances for him and he's so confident with it. Just not quite there physically yet I don't think. A loan would really do him good I think. Sidwell 6 - Not a whole lot from him. I noticed before kick off he can strke a ball brilliantly as we all know but he missed a completely open net on shooting practice about 4 times, by miles. Hoping for better from him this season though. NRC 6 - Not too bad, he gives the team a lift with his energy in CM but he couldn't seem to conjure anything more. Davies 6 - Not bad from Curtis either, pen was harsh. Lowry- Didn't see enough. Guzan 6- The man has some penalty hoodoo about him I'm sure. Couple of good saves too. Keep it up Brad. Good first half all in all, I'd have to say that the subs didn't have the fairest of times as the game always dies with so many changes and it's hard to shine. I don't think theres much we could bring from that game aside from the improved use of of Young and Milner, especially from Milner, who was really good last year but this season it seems we might be trying to add even more bite from him as well as gettin he and Ash working together better, and of course the unknown quantity in Delph, who gave me a lot of hope. I also thought I caught sight of Rob but the fella I noticed had a bit moe of the Alan Moore about him .
  11. Venice was in Italy last time i looked ? He's supposedly Croatian, born in Dalmatia. Being a pedant sorry
  12. Zebina's not fantastic. Legrottaglie's pretty good. Chiellini is very very good and a bit of a hard tackler IIRC. Camoranesi is starting to show his age but is still a massive threat. A bit of clearing in the woods though. Melo's a really highly rated DM, paid big money for him and he's showing his worth already I think. Giovinco is an incredible talent, really dangerous, can make something of absolutely nothing, and is about 5ft tall. Iaquinta is a quality striker, got a good shot and is big and quite strong. Others not so sure on. Basically, Juve are pretty much quality across the board. Giovinco will cause us trouble and has to be watched like a hawk.
  13. Juve fans seem to think Camoranesi might be out suspended. Thats a bonus if it's the case.
  14. Guzan - Absolutely phenominal. His saves were confident, little fuss, and when he did have to make reaction saves bloody hell did he make them. Cuellar - Monster. I've said since his first performances he can tackle, and he certainly showed it today, some brilliant interceptions, some good reading too. He'll be an asset, and he'll prove the doubt in him is unfounded. Also a calming influence when it kicked off, good to see. Davies - Taken off early, looks the weak link still but I think if he grows in confidence with Carlos he's got it to be a great defender. Lichaj - Not there yet. But not bad. Shorey - Barely noticed him, when I did it was generally good stuff. Did notice in the one shot of an offside trap we'd played, the other 3 stayed in formation and he simply sauntered back. He wasn't being tested but I'd sooner he kept that kind of thing up even so. Sidwell - Much better. Involved all over the shop, lots of sterling defensive work, and a nicely taken goal. He can do it, lets hope he does. NRC - If he had a little bit more skill, he'd be amazing. But he doesn't. He's fantastic for energy but he's very much one for the bench and, when the time comes, the transfer list. Until then, he's useful enough. Young - Didn't do a whole lot, quite night. First half he was involved more, but still not loads from him. Albrighton - Marky Mark provided the spark once again. Still slightly raw but he's talented and confident, loved seeing him trying new things, like cutting in from the corner of the box and trying it closer in, in-swinging on his left. Will go far. Carew - Quiet. Couldn't really keep hold of the ball but whenever he did have any time they completely surrounded him. Not his night. Heskey - Scored the first with a nice falling finish, and lead the line fairly well. The sending off was uncharacteristic, and I think he was provoked, he gestured an elbow as he went off and I suspect there may have been words said. Still, stupid of him, not helped by Porto's playacting. Porto - What a bunch of simpering nonces. rocket polishers to a man, dirty petulant diving nancys. Certainly don't like losing, words removed. Great stuff. I really can't say enough how good that centre of defence was tonight. Cuellar and Guzan especially were near inpenetrable. And Clark stepped up with seeming glee too. Absolutely
  15. I take back everything I've said about Yank commentators so far... these ones really are shite. The Spanish twang is cheesing me off. 'Aston Veeya', piss off. Not as bad as 'Marky Mark Albreten' though, who the one fellas taken a right shine to apparently. But on the plus side, we're playing brilliant, especially at the back. Told ya we wouldn't get tonked (though I'll admit to thinking we'd lose..).
  16. Robertson's had his name changed by deed poll... sorry Gol TV, he's now Martin O'Neill.
  17. It's not on telly, no. Well, not in the UK anyway. You can easily stream it though. As for the match... I don't think we'll get battered but I can't see us winning. Hopefully Cuellar can perform as well as he did the other night, he was a rock. Be interesting how we deal with Petrovs absence as well... Here's to a good game anyway.
  18. Good grief no. I've only had it once, and I can barely remember if it was nice or not, but I just associate it with the events following Subway City and Subside one night. Eurgh.
  19. I no longer care about this match, Petrov going off has me absolutely bricking it.
  20. I havent got a bloody clue what to expect from this. I'd hope we'd win, but I think I'll accept something a bit more exciting than the last affair. At least it doesn't matter. Even if we win we're going out next round, albeit to a more world reknowned name.
  21. Wetherspoons Beer and Burger, especially the Gourmet Burger with (as the uni injoke goes) 'NEW LONGER STICK!'. Any form of mature cheddar cheese sarnie. Especially with salad cream and a pinch of salt. Pizza.
