  1. Really remember the Swansea away game recently, Leon Britton came on at half time and ran the show in the second half. Westwood hasn't controlled any game since his time in a Villa shirt! Neat and tidy just isn't enough for me. Doesn't score goals, doesn't create goals, doesn't dictate play - what's the point? The only thing that will keep him here for at least another season is that there is a whole load of shite ahead of him that we need to remove first.
  2. Love the passion and fire in our belly!
  3. YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! GET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, the wife has just given the thumps up to a Chinese takeaway tonight and I got carried away.
  4. Have we had a shot on target or had a corner yet?
  5. Anyone think we'll get a corner in the second half?
  6. Sorry if been spotted and discussed previously but Southgate sitting with Little today. Significant I wonder?
  7. When some one has been at a club for twenty odd years they should be considered a cult hero, but instead there is disappointment and in some cases hatred. Sadly, this is how he will be remembered now by many fans. A real shame, but in truth he hasn't been good enough for a number of years and he hasn't helped himself.
  8. Have to disagree with you here, in that we have no core, we have no spine to build around! I think we have to basically start again and that doesn't necessarily mean that we will be weaker. If we don't remove the bulk of this squad the culture/ losing mentality won't change. In all honestly I wouldn't particularly miss any of the current group and would be more than happy to support a new team.
  9. Not a bad topic to discuss actually Richard. Amongst all the crap with our team this year you have to applaud some of the away team performances at Villa this season - Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and stand out for me Watford, as they came and had a go, when we were trying to get out of the mess. Stand out individual performance for me was the Man City kid who scored a hatrick. Not even going to try and type his name though.
  10. Can't even be bothered to do a suggested/preferred team. Reading this thread shows how much we are in a mess where no one even thinks that we can keep the score below 2 or 3 goals. Another crap weekend with a 4-0 score line to Utd. Maybe we will get a corner?
  11. Would now hope that we don't see him in a Villa shirt again! He ought to be ashamed but doubt he even cares. Utter disgrace!!
  12. Personally, I really wouldn't want McCarthy but hey, if it is him I will get behind him! Would still love Dyche though!! Wonder if we will here who it is by Saturday night?
  13. Cowans - probably the best player on the training ground still
  14. Changing the culture around the club doesn't necessarily mean buy young, hungry players! It's about buying the right type of players, regardless of age. Pretty sure someone like Gareth Barry for example is professional enough not to be out shagging and on the lash every weekend. A good mix of young and experienced heads is what we need, but making sure that the right character and desire is there. This is what a good manager can identify in a player and this is where Sherwood fell down in my opinion. I personally think that we unfortunately have a rotten core group of first team players that need clearing out quickly, some of which came to the club last summer.
  15. Would completely agree with you here TRO. A good manager and his team with 55m should have kept us in the division. Some managers work with pennies and still find a way to get results.
  16. As I said yesterday, my first choice would be Dyche, but paying compensation again would be ridiculous with so many managers out of work. I would be more than happy with Moyes though, as he must want to prove his doubters wrong. I also wouldn't be disappointed to hear that Monk or Rogers had got the role. We must surely still be an attractive proposition to many managers.
  17. Gutted that I am missing my first home game of the season but need the holiday! 5-0 to Chelsea and expect to hear shortly afterwards that Garde has walked or been sacked.
  18. The trouble with the players is that the majority don't care! I can accept being second best/not as good as your opponent, but lack of guts and effort is criminal. Big clear out required of the first team squad and then change the culture around the place.
  19. Really hope they win it as it's refreshing to see someone else up there. Whether it be skill, luck, and/or playing without fear, they deserve it! I for one applaud them. Only warning for Leicester is things can change so quickly in football, as no doubt Blackburn shows this to be the case. Former champions and now adrift in the Chamionship.
  20. It appears to have been a good start from Hollis but the proof of how good his ideas and implementation of plans are will surely be our next couple of transfer windows! Just hope Krulak isn't too much of a hindrance to him though.
  21. I would have no problem with Moyes to be honest and think he would be a good appointment. Wouldn't rule out Rodgers and Pearson being interested in us though. However, my personal preference for the job would be Sean Dyche, proven at the level we are at, but doubt we will want to pay out even more compensation.
  22. Keeper - David Marshall at Cardiff or Tom Heaton at Burnley would be my choices. A centre half is a must because Richards and possibly Lescott will go. Lewis Dunk I like or a possible Premiership loan to keep costs down (Fonte, Chester, Caulker)? We desperately need a change or two in midfield, Jedinak, Bridcutt, Osman, Britton, Charlie Adam, Bradley Johnson, are gettable targets in my opinion but agree with previous posts, Barry would be amazing! Unlikely signing though, too good for where we will be and too much in salary. Offensively, I would keep Gestede but think we will loose Ayew. Would rather Agbonlahor and Sinclair go too, so along with integrating Sellars, Robinson and Hepburn possibly we will need someone else. Dwight Gayle, Shane Long, Nahki Wells, Joe Lolley and even Jon Walters is a good shout for a season. A winger who can cross would be good too but can't think of one right now?
  23. I know, was bored watching Sinbad with my son and felt the need to throw a name in, but not a very good one I admit.
  24. Alan Curbishley? I honestly don't know if he could do a job or not, was just throwing a name into the hat really.
