  1. Lot of variability in the streams today I see Upson not realising that it was for the stamp not the shove
  2. He started doing this routinely against Wolves in the second half too, interesting in light of McGinn saying Emery was getting players to do things he thought they were good at that they didn't necessarily realise imo
  3. Don't think we've been bad, considering how congested it is when they have men back we haven't looked one-dimensional or out of ideas, and the pen shouts or the two big chances could've shaken out differently. Hopefully they tire rather than us getting frustrated or sloppy Not normally a fan of the brutal Saudi-style poetic justice, but the penalty for flying a drone somewhere it's not allowed to be should definitely be having the drone shoved up your arse
  4. Derbies and our record against Wolves being what they are, this is the first league game of Emery's reign where we're meant to be actually strong favourites to win. Southampton looked quite composed and well organised against Everton considering their position though, and Ward Prowse looks like he's up for it in a more advanced role at the moment Shitting it! Hope Watkins isn't having a frustrating off day after 70 minutes with the usual switch now off the table Interested to see A Moreno get a full run out though, his contributions after he settled in a bit against Leeds were enjoyable
  5. City were pretty bad and Villa just weren't ruthless enough in attack, but they were hanging on a bit by the end so a good point. Lot of bad decisions towards the end in terms of City not getting a few corner decisions at either end and Lehmann being well onside when played in 4 points from City after being routinely battered by them before is real progress, looks like Ward deserved that new contract
  6. The commentator on CBS sounds lowkey annoyed that we equalised so quickly with such a dog of a goal lol City are a bit sloppy playing out of the back, there's goals left in it
  7. Between that and the fact that the Man City thread used to also be prefixed "let's all laugh at", wondering if there should be a "let's cautiously disparage Birmingham City Football Club" thread
  8. Takes the piss how good he was. He must have actually beaten his man more times than Gnonto did based on that, largely by moving his hips while near-stationary
  9. Why are they writing these unreadable essays on their banners man, do they not realise "WERE NOT FICKLE WE JUST DON'T LIKE YOU" is the benchmark for this stuff
  10. Oh....oh god no Ah hold up no it's only 16, that's fine
  11. [incredibly sarcastic fake Yorkshire accent] VAR VAR VAR
  12. How are they so bad at showing an image or replay that actually gives you a clear look at the ball being played
  13. Is there only VAR in the FA Cup if both teams are PL or does it depend on what ground it's at?
  14. A young Sean Bean lining up for Stevenage. Hell of a coup for them tbf
  15. Well that's a football banning order and a fine, open and shut, he's only got himself to blame
  16. Bailey seems to have regressed into that overthought, neurotic style of play he fell prey to under Gerrard, and then when he finally gets a chance where he's got time to bear down on the empty net he loses his cool and snatches at it on his wrong foot. Gah. Hopefully he can bounce back, maybe his reaction will induce sympathy and neuter some of the furious response to him our fa-hahaha just kidding I...did not know that Augustinsson had that in his locker. Very unlucky not to score, but a hell of a clearance from the Premier League's most prolific serial killer Voted Mings MOTM, good pass for the goal and was interesting to see him in advanced positions hemming Wolves in and being on the ball more while we were pushing in the last third of the game Maybe I'm insane, but after how incredible Wolves were in the first half I'm still more in a mode of being relieved and thinking that was a decent point
  17. We didn't move up as a result of that win. Palace also have a game in hand on us, but there's a four point gap between us and Leicester in 13th now
  18. That goal gets better on every replay good lord
  19. A frustrating game and I was honestly pleasantly surprised we scored because it just had One of Those Days written all over it. Some enjoyable stuff in the second half and scattered throughout the first and I can't say I regretted watching it unlike a lot of our games earlier this year. Kamara is a really clever, tidy player. Mings had a good game after an early injury scare where he looked properly in agony initially. Felt bad for Buendia who was working his arse off to try and take hold of the game and it just wasn't sticking. Watkins and Darwin Nunez both appeared to be collaborating on some kind of bizarre and horrific tribute act to the recent work of Lautaro Martinez in the first half, but glad Watkins got on the scoresheet with a good goal. Emery's probably already made his mind up on whether he can get a tune out of Watkins in the back half of the season. I thought the ref had a good first half but the amount of stuff he was letting go in the second half just started to take the piss; towards the end it felt like he was not giving out yellows just for the sake of not giving one out, and if he was taking an approach of wanting to let things go where possible, then giving Alisson that free kick off Watkins invading his Special Goalkeeper Personal Space was just pathetic. I really hope the rumours of Emery wanting to sell Emi Martinez aren't true; unless they've got some kind of masterstroke out of left field lined up I don't think that defence can handle the disruption of him going mid-season
  20. you squander a 2 goal lead in a foul-tempered 140 minute football match, get thrust into the most stressful, high-pressure situation in any sport, and your goalkeeper is just suddenly this cackling, dancing maniac who eats penalty takers' souls like they're bar snacks
  21. Looking at all them Argentina lads piling on Emi to kiss him after that save and thinking yeah, same
  22. I think it varies a bit from player, some personal observations below: Buendia - Feisty, bit niggly but not dirty, notably tries hard to play on when being fouled. Bailey mostly lives here too I guess Coutinho: serene, graceful, vague air of sadness, possibly confused? Ings, Digne, Cash, McGinn, Ramsey - committed, prone to the occasional tactical foul, timewasting routine, rush of blood to the head or failed recovery challenge after being caught out Watkins - hardly a scoundrel but tempted by the odd dive, perhaps as perceived in his innocence as restorative justice for rough treatment at the hands of thuggish centrebacks; nothing you'd stop him dating your daughter over Luiz: hmmmmmmmmm Mings - likes a grapple, occasionally prone to obliterating another player's skull Young, Martinez - Satan
