  1. Watkins had as many assists today as this so-called "Erling Haaland" had passes, interesting
  2. Wish I'd stuck money on Buendia scoring when everyone was demanding he be boiled down into glue at half time
  3. Christ this is a tough watch. Defended well last ditch, but disjointed and listless everywhere else Palace been pretty excellent tbf
  4. The noise they've been making in spite the situation they're in is impressive tbf and honestly preferable to the morale-sapping grumbling VP frequently descends into I don't get the constant hysterical jeering of opposition misses and misplaced passes and that though, like lads you're 3-0 down, down to 10 men and in the relegation zone, I don't think Lukaku's crying himself to sleep over putting one of them wide
  5. We're now in the situation that if we somehow conspire to lose to Burnley it will be bizarrely hilarious
  6. Bit out of order bringing Bamford's mom into it imo
  7. I was in the "don't sign him if will either mess up our finances or Buendia's future at the club" camp, but tbh I feel quite relieved seeing indications that it might be a done deal. The psychic damage of teasing the fans with having a player of that calibre for only half a season and him then disappearing to another PL club might have been too much. It could always not work out on the pitch, but he was certainly capable of hitting the heights in his first little run of games so willing to cautiously hope game time and a full preseason get him close to his best I mean let's face it, if you can sign a Brazilian player at the Villa you always kind of want to. Unless it's Junior Firpo, who is shit. And also Dominican or something
  8. Nod of the head to Watkins and Ings for whatever work they put in to be able to play better in the same team, that's a few games now where they've been a real two-pronged threat
  9. Kind of funny how United chucking round these big fees/having these big sponsorship deals leads to them being forced to constantly pick absolute donkeys that are ruining their team like Maguire or Rooney when he was clearly degenerating into a pub team player Ronaldo temporarily out of that category on today's performance but still, not that much of a net gain for them this season All English football commentators being contractually obliged to pop for Man United goals like they're Jim Ross commentating on Mick Foley falling off the cell
  10. I find watching him almost zen-like, just gliding effortlessly round the pitch and then smiling serenely and hugging his teammates when he scores
  11. Can Leeds possibly be that inept in the second half?
  12. Aside from adding numbers to the score, that couldn't really have gone any better, including three players everyone wanted to get game time getting a run-out off the bench. I thought Calum Chambers was a comically underwhelming signing but he was good today and that pass was outrageous. That feels like the first real all-cylinders excellent whistle-to-whistle performance we've had for ages, at least going back to the United win in September. Also: not even the slightest requirement for VAR to intervene, although I had already wrongly mentally noted Coutinho as being offside for the second and didn't celebrate.
  13. Blistering stuff. Really solid defensive performance considering the disruption, everyone looks totally switched on
  14. I hope we don't start out cagy and nervous today, home crowd won't take much of it without the vibe turning bad
  15. Everton are one point clear of the relegation zone, they were only two clear in the as it stands table while they were still level with city
  16. Gave MOM to Cash for settling the nerves with a bit of quality So nice to go from a nervy first half where wound up home fans are screaming blue murder for every tackle, and then by the final ten literally half of them have gone home because the game is so clearly over. You'd think you'd changed the channel by accident Hope little Emi was just being rested or has a minor thing that he wasn't risked for, good to get through the 90 without him with a competent, solid performance if so
  17. God forbid but if Martinez ever plays a game against us for another team his time wasting would make the veins on my head pop out
  18. Lucky Cash missed, the mad bastard would have taken his shirt off again
  19. "Assistant Service Manager" for me
  20. Good knowledge! Hopefully the club can disseminate this info so everyone at VP can shout solo at the Emis when they've got space to turn. Not that it really makes a difference to Buendia, the boy wants to turn he'll turn
  21. Hope not, don't think we've had a youth team player whose name inexplicably floats through my head more often. Don't know what I'll do with the information if I have no use for it
  22. I think it reflected somewhat badly that we had basically no apparent threat on the counter at all in the second half, Everton were playing like an angry Championship team in a cup tie, not Liverpool at Anfield, with the players at your disposal you can at least try and get a second and shut them up for the rest of the game But we still kept a clean sheet and won, so yeah, not cataclysmic or anything
