  1. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with your name like a a retrospectively disgraced Victorian industrialist who has a lot of statues of him taken down
  2. we might now finally be clear of commentators saying Villa can now "perhaps start looking up the table rather than over their shoulder at the teams below them" , after every single win
  3. Voted McGinn MOTM but that was Moreno's best game for us too. Scott Murray on the Graun liveblog enjoyed it, this is quite heartwarming:
  4. Someone who sounded like Robbie Earle was on the vo at half time saying it was a soft penalty Tony Gale has that Carragher thing where he spends the entire game animatedly armchair managing what he thinks his former club should do to win as if they're the protagonists of the story, its very tiresome
  5. Enh. This isn't bad so far. The penalty was shit and we're weak defending corners which they're exploiting, but we're OK going forward and the possession game has got their crowd silent and nervous a lot of the time. Hopefully Benrahama gets shushed himself in the second half
  6. Moreno makes the game look so simple when he's attacking, just makes sudden good runs or finds a bit of space for a dangerous ball into the box
  7. Excellent from both, after Moreno had struggled a bit down the left in the early stages. Nice to see us weather all the crosses West Ham put in and then score from one at the other end immediately
  8. Definitely the least enjoyable of Emery's reign, the only worse one I can recall for entertainment value this season was the 1-0 win-by-default against a functionally non-existent Southampton under the previous manager I guess it would've been better for everyone if Anderson had missed the ball and Watkins had got a tap-in so we'd at least have had a good goal and the 6 in 6 to think about
  9. They also said Cash "ran onto a long ball" and for the goal which is a little uncharitable, but they don't have a lot of time to observe and write this stuff tbf I think their point in the screen cap is more that we're much further clear of it despite it only being two places, it's condensed down the bottom and then 11th up is like a separate league at the moment
  10. Fortuitous but couple of good dangerous passes in there. Hopefully it opens up a bit now
  11. This and Bournemouth are the two games I'm most keen to see strong performances in after the disastrous away fixtures You know things are bad if Palace fans are chanting "eez jast too good for yew" about your complete inability to deal with Wilf Zaha ffs
  12. It didn't do them much good though, the ref was favouring us in the first half. I don't know if it becomes a boy who cried wolf thing where he hears them screaming blue murder about them not getting a corner they should have had and just thinks yeah that's what you always say pipe down lads They've definitely hallucinated a great many handballs over the years
  13. Leon Osman's not normally too bad on commentary but he's showing his arse a bit today
  14. Pretty obvious that what we need to do here is give it first 15 minutes of the second half under new instructions from half time, and then if things aren't improving, turn off the game and do something else
  15. At least Simon Brotherton didn't mess around with manufacturing controversy over the disallowed goal
  16. alright that's it we need to get a banner on the Holte End that says "IT WAS FOR A STAMP" maybe take a leaf out of Everton fans' books and make it some 400 word opinion column/poem nobody has time to read on MOTD. No push involved Southampton, young Jacob's heel was stamped on, whatever get an AI to write it like they seem to
  17. Martinez is embarking on the sweeper-keeper destiny where he eventually gets so high on his own supply he loses the ball on halfway attempting a Marseille roulette in a cup final. God bless him, and uh may it happen while playing for Argentina Not a bad performance at all in context against a team that had put together a good run of results, luckily we're not Everton. Their fans were howling blue murder but they were surrendering possession in dangerous areas and committing too many fouls as a result; the big decisions were right, it was a clear foul for their goal even if barely anybody seemed to notice it wasn't given for a push, despite the player going down holding his ankle in pain immediately when he was in position to clear the ball. The first half pen shouts not given for us could have been given on another day but weren't travesties of justice or anything Ashley Young, very tidy Better performance than Leeds I think, I don't think we were lucky to win Looks like it will be a nice entertaining MOTD later, which we will almost definitely be dead last on
  18. I wouldn't rule out anything in a Martin O'Neill dressing room
  19. Ashley Young is obnoxiously composed at fullback, he's just seen it all
  20. It's gonna be so weird explaining to the younger generations in 2040 why there's a "Danny Ings Stand" at Villa Park
  21. They're gonna feel so hard done by but the big decisions haven't been wrong
  22. They've given us possession out of nowhere in the final third so much it'll be insanely annoying if we don't carve out a few more chances
