Yes just as long as the core of the team remains British. this is important in my opinion. I couldn't give a stuff where they came from as long as they are good, improve us and enable us to compete a lot higher up the table Absolutely I agree but for this to happen the majority of the squad should dare I say "need" to be British. This is a British club competing in a British league. To fill the team with a smorgasboard of nationalities cannot help team bonding.

It was 1992 and I supported Tottenham (only because they had Gascoigne and Lineker playing for them at the time.) Villa beat Tottenham in the FA cup so I decided to support them instead. Villa went on to be beaten by Liverpool (coincidently a team I supported at primary school as they won everything) in the quarter final.This was also the first year of the premier league and this was exciting to me. The following year still supporting Villa was very arousing as The Villans 'nearly' won the title... The rest is history. 20 years on I could NEVER switch sides again, even if Villa played my home town Torquay I would not be routing for Torquay United.

In this dire season I've been struggling to think who the most consistent Villa performer has been across the whole season and quite frankly have struggled to think of any player who has merited such an award. For me its between Given, Collins, Ireland and Petrov with my vote narrowly going to Petrov with Given a close second. I'm hoping some outstanding performances in the coming weeks will turn the tables on this but I doubt it! For the best young player I think that has to go to Chris Herd as he has been the one bright light from these dark days. Who gets your vote?

Talksport 23hrs ago stated that AM would sign and an announcement would be made within the next 24hrs. This announcement started this whole episode proper. Time will tell.

I was so convinced yesterday that AM would never happen I layed him heavily on Betfair. 30mins later Talksport announce 'done deal' and the odds dropped massively. However I'm still thinking +ve and have not yet heard or read anything that convinces me AM will be appointed. IIRC under RL nothing has ever been leaked to the press and we have always been kept in the dark. If AM does get in protesting can only cause harm to AV, I for one will support whoever gets the job and hope others can do to.
