  1. Did you all know that there is a third Milliband brother - Steve. He did; The Joker, Gangsta of Love and several other hits !

    Cannabis

Dont normally contribute to serious topics; normally stick to cricket or cycling in Off Topic but; I urge fellow Villa fans to think very carefully about this topic. Of the people I work with, I would estimate that 60% are cannabis users; however they happen to be prisoners.Of the remaining 40%, perhaps 30% are dealers but from my conversations with the dealers, who are mainly asian, they wouldnt touch it. I'm sure there are people who can smoke the odd,or even regular joint and get away with it but you will have to believe me when I say that some of the most vicious murders have been committed by"habitual" or "heavy" users. You would all know some of the cases but I darent quote them on here. I agree that heavy use of alcohol is equally bad but why exacerbate a problem by legalising this stuff. Finally, for those of us with children; would you be happy or even ambvilalent about your child having access to this drug? Not meant to be a self-righteous lecture - just another point of view. Cheers

    The Police

Here is a tip; if you ever catch anyone in your house, phone the police. If they aint there in five minutes, phone back and say "Forget that call I made about the burglar, I've just shot the **** - can you send an ambulance instead". Think you will find that they will arrive sharpish.
  4. [quote="briny_ear. My favourite chant - "I'd rather be a Bear than a Pear"
  5. I didnt realise that kidlewis ! There was footage of some 'momentous' incidents eg Trevor Chappell 'bowling' underarm to the Kiwi, various sledging, Holding trying to seriously injure Brian Close etc. Has that all gone then ?
  6. As an adjunct to the above; have just found out Worcestershire have been promoted ! This is good for Midlands cricket as I'm sure we all like to see the little teams do well: will be a bit like Hednesford going to the Premiership And to answer my own question cricket fans - James Taylor at Leicestershire might be good for Warks - if we could get him.
  7. Couldnt agree more. I tell you what; I think the Villa could win the League after that turn-around in form. But - note of caution - surely we have to bring in some new players for next year if we are not to endure this drama again. Any ideas ?
  8. A very interesting thread, if a bit complicated for me ! However, do you make this assertion based on "the Multiplier" concept ? (something I fully believe in btw but seems an old-fashioned, Keynesian view these days).
  9. Yeah Dead right Gringo. Couldnt we even stop up if we lost to Hants and Kent lost to Yorkshire ? Wonder what will happen next season; they are losing Tahir back to Hants and batting looks a tad fragile. perhaps a late bid for Pieterson (just a joke !)
  10. Well at least the mighty Warwickshire are doing well ! Skittled Essex for 114. we cant lose. Oh hang on - we are 155 all out. What is going on in the world; mark you, I thought we'd beat Newcastle so what do I know about anything. They'll tell me next that Liberace was gay.
  11. Yeah that pro carbon looks good value as you say. Just as an alternative, have a look at the Planet X site, similar spec/prices look available. I dont have one but you see loads at races. The big Italian 'marques' are just not worth it and I personally doubt if they are made in Italy now. Last Sunday I was riding back from a race and just stopped to check if I was still alive - I had almost done a 'personal worst'. Some chap rode past and said "Nice Pinarello!" I wanted to chuck the effing thing in the hedge.
  12. Excellent thread ! Well I know very little about anything but cycling I do know a bit about. In the Rogues Gallery section, someone had bought a Boardman. Dont know much about them but I think they are only available from Halfords. Are you after a road bike or MTB and what is your budget? The first piece of advice (which I hope you dont mind me giving) is make sure that you get the right size frame; shops are notorious for selling you a bike that is too big just to make a sale. Finally; you could always consider second-hand. Cyclists, particularly mtbers, are terrible fashion victims and will upgrade a perfectly good bike leaving some bargains available. Hope that helps
  13. Yeah - sorry Gringo; I should have put that in inverted commas. Legend in his own mind is what I meant. I think he has been mentioned on here before and I queried his attitude then. The latest news about him wanting to leave Hampshire because it is too far from London just about sums him up in my opinion. Think I read that Middlesex are interested in him.
  14. As the person who started this thread, I reserve the right to have the whole damn lot DELETED !! Very miserable about the Bears; does anyone have any idea what is going on at Warks ? They seem doomed now so will Ashley Giles survive ? Would it have made a difference if we had a top-rate overseas player ? Has there been too much emphasis on recruiting Warks 'old boys' - Dougie Brown, Keith Piper,Graeme Welch et al. We might have a nice new pavilion next year but we will be in the 2nd Division ! Dare I say it but will Ian Bell look to leave PS - another failure by legend Pieterson today.
  15. You intelligent cricket fans may remember Simon Jones, who I think was with Glamorgan at the time, chucking the ball towards MATTHEW HAYDEN a couple of years ago. I think it hit Hayden, who advanced towards Jones before Jones did offer an apology. Of all the cricketers you would not want to annoy Hayden would be near the top of my list ! But you are right; we dont want this sort of attitude in cricket and in Broads case, I wonder if it is in the genes? Didnt his dad refuse to walk in the infamous Gatting/pakistani umpire row(cant spell his name - sorry)
  16. Is Stuart Broad the English Andre Nel;was a little petulant I thought. If that wicker deteriorates could be interesting tomorrow.
  17. Sod England - what about the mighty Bears !! Thrashed Essex; could we still stay up (and that without Ian Bell or Jonathon Trott) ?
  18. Oh yeah - that was classic. Almost as good as when Miandad decided to have a go at him. Miandad armed with bat - Lilley just fists . Hmm still weighted towards the great Denis ( my favourite fast bowler !
  19. Yep, blandy summed it up perfectly. You are undoubtably right about quick bowlers there to take wickets not get runs and I guess you could extend the same argument to 'keepers being there to keep wicket not get runs. It's just when you are as old as me  you remember the likes of John Snow and (a bit later) Graham Dilley, for example, pitching in with useful runs. ps Although it goes against the grain to say it, the great Denis Lilley got runs too didnt he ?
  20. Better than Woakes do you think ? Dont forget Chris Woakes can bat a bit too. No bias from me of course
  21. Blimey, I didnt even know it was a Giant - I thought it was a Planet X. Where did you get it from? Is it alu tubing? Unfortunately it seems to have Shimano kit on it Looks very nice.
  22. Yep - dead right ! I suppose you have to admit that they were without Ian Bell and Jonathon Trott (I think) but that was a terrible result. Are they going to regret not getting a top rate overseas player 'cos most other sides seem to have one or is it that the coaching is just not up to it? You would love it to work 'cos there are a lot of old Warks players involved: Dougie Brown, Graeme Welch and even Keith Piper I think. They have just sent me an offer of "a bargain price " to renew our membership for 6 years. Hmm !
  23. Well that was an effing waste of time. Just got back from Warks T20 - beaten by Leicestershire; a truly dismal performance. If we carry this form back into the proper game we will be back playing Worcs next season ! Only bright spot was on the way out wheree there were some strumpety looking women advertising a "Gentlemens Club" Medusa I think.
  24. Am getting a tad worried about the Bears position too. Looking at the fixture list, they dont have another CC game until June 28th (Durham away) and then July 5th(Yorkshire away). Does anyone know if Bell and Trott are likely to be on International duty then or will they be available to Warks ? Wonder if they will consider trying to get in another batsman; COLPAC player or summat. I dont want 'em winning Pro 40 and be relegated !
