  1. Can't add much to all the above. Villa reviewers - 10/10 I don't know whether I like that we win ugly, or concerned that we cannot hand out a spanking that this group of players, on paper, is due to hand out. Bacuna was excellent today, I like his attitude and effort considering the breakdown in relations he had with the fans last year. Kodjia is obviously our go to for goals, but was really not at the races today. McCormack wasn't at it either. Chester and Baker very impressive. Biggest positive of the day for me was seeing Villa Park filled up. I had almost forgotten what an brilliant ground Villa Park is when it is brimmed full, and in full voice.
  2. Didn't get MOTM today, but this guy is probably our most solid, reliable player at the moment. Very impressed with him, and my vote for signing of the season for us.
  3. Think I was still in delirium on the train home. For this level I think he is, he'll be useful in the Premier League though I think.
  4. Steves working wonders. Barring Brighton I don't think we are actually playing sensational stuff. But we look very comfortable in a leading position. Over two points a game. We'd be top with that form over a season.
  5. This guy convinced me when we went 2-1 up that he's management material. He had a quiet word with grealish after the goal, and it seemed to calm things down. I thought he was class
  6. Apart from the goal incident, I thought him and Jedinak were great today.
  7. Unbelievable talent. Think the defender caught him on the face rather than Kodjia mocking him. Was funny though. Get the feeling we need to go up this year to keep him.
  8. Obviously let Bruce do as he wishes, but I would be disappointed if we buy a keeper who pushes Gollini out the first team. Like others, I think the guy has an immense potential and could be a leading keeper in the premier league.
  9. #SaveTish To be fair, it's hard to change a winning team, and despite Gardner not looking totally assured we have still been ticking along. I expect he will get back in soon enough, looked very promising in patches this season. Whatever Bruce thinks is best, is alright for me at the moment.
  10. Probably just me, but I quite like the Don't look back in anger song for us. Very apt for our last few years, I hope we keep it going.
  11. Have to say being at the game, that his pass to Kodjia was so much better than the tv angle suggests. Very classy performance from him again. Looking like the player he was for Palace.
  12. Funny old game. Didn't think we were that great today, but are grinding out results which is very pleasing. Perhaps most pleasing is Bruce's tactical awareness. Obviously starting 4-4-2, then changing the shape after the second goal to 4-5-1 with Westwood on for Kodjia (enforced or not), and then seeing the game out when we came under the cosh by going narrower with 5-4-1 with Elphick on for Grealish. Not very showbiz, but very professional and wise considering the flow of the game. I couldn't make out from my seat how decent that save from Gollini was early on but thought he was excellent. As was Jedinak, Baker, Amavi and Kodjia. Finally, it was bloody freezing at Villa Park today. Not taking gloves was an amateurish mistake.
  13. Interesting news from Dr Tony on twitter tonight saying that he has set a group up to plan the redevelopment of Villa Park.
  14. Is Grealish back for this one? A nice big win is overdue. 4-0
  15. It will be green and upstanding, I hope that is dynamic enough. Where's Dr Tony when you need him? I hope Dr Tony watches the game on Sunday. I remember his reaction in the stand when we beat Rotherham. Great moment.
  16. That is an incredible bit of work. I wonder if the dissertation will help me build a birdbox tomorrow morning.
  17. I've been saying for a while that we are going to absolutely spank a team at some point given the quality of the individual players we have, would be amazing if this was the game. Equally, we need to not underestimate that lot. They have a decent manager and have been playing fairly well this season, up until the international break at least. if all goes well I would go for a 1-3 to Villa. Kodjia hattrick. Most disturbingly, you just know Sky will roll out Dwight Yorke for this game. I cannot tolerate him on TV, he almost revels in the fact we are on a downer and loves to have a dig.
  18. I come to games from Barnstaple on the train and was certain after 75mins I was going on the long ride home having seen a dreary 0-0. But the one moment of genuine quality in the game turned all that. Fulham were dreadful. We dominated without really threatening much, but they say a good side wins when not at their best. The team are much more organised that before, and much harder to break down. Special mentions to Chester and Baker who were nothing short of rock solid, Gollini for being assured, Kodjia for looking dangerous and his all round running, and Adomah for changing the game game when he came on. Onwards.
  19. I'm glad to see the club have moved him on. I reserve no hatred or dislike for the man though. Seems a decent guy, who couldn't do the job. Probably the end of his management career - how many times has that proven to be true with our managers.
  20. Dr Tony has backed his manager with insane money, the manager has not produced results and is about to be sacked. Considering most people backed the appointment at the beginning, I don't think Tony should be given too much grief. Especially not walkout protests like I have seen suggested elsewhere. Madness.
  21. Went for Champions. Honestly believe we have the best team, but as others have said it depends of how quickly they gel. Top 6 would be acceptable.
  22. Tony has been a man of his word. Things are happening on the commercial side and the playing side is much improved. Kudos. If we get promoted this year, just imagine the next summer transfer window.
  23. Completely agree it was needed. I think it's difficult to do much more, and do it well if that makes sense. Even when Abramovich first bought Chelsea, he didn't completely overhaul the team in the first window. Granted Chelsea weren't a complete shambles like we were.
  24. Ridiculous rumours of Fernando Torres on Twitter after Sid Lowe said something about meeting a certain Doctor. Its just struck me if we spent £20mil more this window, as is rumoured, we will have a net spend approaching £45mil would we not? That is utter insanity for the championship. Thanks Tony.
