  1. Good picture there, which makes it a little clearer and actually less of a mistake than I first thought. What annoyed me the most was that he didn't follow him, but maybe he felt he wouldn't catch him so instead chose to play safe. But yes, the actions he took after that moment he did very well. He was superb yesterday. I just got a bit annoyed when people claim that he saved Olsen there, which he didn't. Maybe Olsen should've tracked back faster after he'd forced Perisic away from the goal, but that's a bit pedantic. And again I will praise Konsa for going up against Kane. Sure, that's his job and what he really should do, but far too many times I've seen Villa defenders going in half hearted letting the striker head the ball more or less free from defenders.
  2. So when Perisic runs behind Konsa and Mings Young shouldn't say anything? The first thing he did was the wrong thing. He plays Perisic onside and lets him go free.
  3. Perisic runs from their left and Young shall either follow him, play him offside or talk to Konsa and Mings, not jog down 5 yards away and play him onside. Olsen did what he could do there. Tbf to Young he recovers very well and can clear off the line.
  4. He did nothing wrong there. Young did, though, and bailed himself out.
  5. Such a good win. I thought we were a bit too slow when we had the ball in the first half. Defended well but created nothing. As many have said already it's very hard to pick a motmedel but I have to go for Young. Especially as I doubted it was the right choice to pick him over Cash. I'm an arm chair fan, UE is a professional. Having said that I have to go against the main stream here. Young didn't save Olsen with that header, he saved himself. He was the one who didn't really follow Perisic and played him onside. Olsen did very well to stay on his feet stopping Perisic to get around him and play the ball into the empty net. But in the end I think Young was superb. As was Douglas Luiz, As was Kamara. And a few more. UTV!
  6. Except that he did. You could see on SG when he took him off that he thought he'd had a good game, and apart from two poor passes in the 2nd half, which is the only thing people seem to remember, he didn't give the ball away once. A long ball that didn't really reach Watkins, but it was close to setting him free, wasn't really giving the ball away. He wasn't great yesterday, but he was good. I sometimes wonder if people understand his role in the team. He had bad games against newcastle and watford, very few didn't, but yesterday he was good. Always showing up wanting the ball, making it easier for our defenders to get the ball to the midfield in control. Which is part of our tactics. He stopped ownhill.several of their attack, especially remembering Lamptey looking like he'd ran into a wall at the half line in the first half. DL was also behind our best chance in the 1st half with his cross to Watkins who headed it down to McGinn. And worthy a notice is that after he was subbed we barely had the ball. Anyway, not a great game as such, but a good and controlled game. We kept them away from good chances. 11 shots, 1 on target, one a poor header from Wellbeck in a good position, the other 9 not even close. We won it fair without convincing. A well needed win. About the ref. He was really poor and was well on his way to lose the game several times. But he's new and can still learn. I thought he started well, but from that situation where he gave DL a yellow it really went downhill. 3 points. UTV!
  7. I know you **** would. It probably was written with huge, red capitals on your screen.
  8. **** me, are you using magnifying glasses?
  9. I don't really care about if it was a correct call or not (I don't think it was correct at all, and no, I wouldn't react to it if it was the other way around.), that's more or less semantic. It was the way they really tried to find something to disallow it for. Almost 4 minutes of searching, thoroughly going through if it was offside on Ings, or possibly Watkins, or a hand on Ings, and then they had him look at that a few minutes later. They were looking for a case, that's very obvious. I don't even think it was against us, more for them. They wanted them to go through so they still have a trophy to play for. Having seen that Halsey interview and BBC's documentary about PL it's quite obvious that some clubs are more favoured than others, and one club more than every other club. So when we scored that and it was disallowed in that way I really felt "What's the point in this?". They will come up with something to disallow the next one too. Had Ollie scored they would've said that Ollie fouled VNL. Or perhaps Doris the tea lady serving tea at the wrong temperature at VP. 4 bloody minutes and they found a very dubious obstruction from Ramsey, who was almost standing still, on Cavani who fell over like Trez and waved at the ref at once. And kept complaining. It was bloody manure themselves that started that trend by having van Nistelrooy standing way behind the wall when they had a freekick. He was never called off for obstructing the defenders even though his presence there was always obstructing defenders when they were tracking back. Sure, that wasn't the main reason for him to be standing there, but it was a benefit. Never have I ever seen such a decision. And to say that anything like this has never happened before is just not true. Through 150 years of football I doubt this was the first time anything like this happened. No, this was clearly showing that they wanted to disallow it. Can anyone else remember VAR checking 3 different incidents on one goal? Anyway, we deserved more, we were the better team over all, but of course we need to take our chances, even if it's harder knowing that they will probably be disallowed anyway. And the defending for the goal wasn't exactly text book standard of good defending. But for the rest of the game we defended well. They had a few harmless shots from outside the area, and that was about it. I thought Douglas Luiz was mostly excellent, but every now and then he made horrible errors that could've cost us. And then Targett's pass to DL at the end of the first half. We can't do things like that. We need to be more carewfull. Those were just sloppy moments. Fewer mistakes like that, more decisivness in front both goals, and we will win a lot of games. Now, back to Oliver & the gang. Surely, a normal ref would look at a players bloody face and think that "Hang on, I must've missed something here."? Not yesterday's ref team, though. I wonder if he was afraid to give a late pen or that he knew that meant he had to send Shaw off. Or both? And then he couldn't wait for the clock to pass 96 before he blew the final whistle. He blew it on 96 sharp when we had the ball. Not really a bad thing, but with all the other stuff this evening, it just fullfilled the picture of a ref wanting them to win. 6 minutes ET after 4 minutes of VAR, Konsa being down, Dalot being down, really wasn't enough. Normally I'd say we will thrash them on Saturday, but I know we won't because they're manure and they can't be allowed to get thrashed by a team like ours. Rant over, UTV!
  10. Amazing signing. I'm over the moon. For the first time in many years I will buy a shirt with a current player's name on the back. I know he might flop, but right now we've signed a top top player and I'm happy for that. Probably the biggest profile player we've signed in my 40 years as a Villan. But please, don't let captain Jack do the welcome interview.
  11. We lost to a better team, that's all, really. We tried to frustrate them and was really close to fullfill that. I think their penalty was a penalty, but likewise was our shout. You're not allowed to hit someone over his legs. But apart from that I think Atwell had a good game. He didn't fall for their dives in the first half. But Klopp should've been sent to the stands in the first half. The way he acted all the first 45 minutes was a disgrace. All those few saying we should've played like we did in the last 15 minutes or so from the start must've forgotten their 2 or 3 very dangerous counter attacks during that period. Yes, we defended them very well, especially Konsa, I think it was. But having those counter attacks for 90 minutes and we will lose byt at least 3. I don't think they sat back after their goal per se, I just think they were relieved and relaxed and then we were all over them and they got nervous realising this wasn't over. I think they were a bit surprised that we went that hard for an equaliser. I won't go as far as they were panicking, but their reactions to the final whistle said a lot. Absolutely a fair result but we weren't lucky. We thought hard and made it very difficult for them. Encouraging and SG has gone from strength to strength. Now we have two games that are another kind of a test. How will we play against "lesser" teams? Will we struggle or will we win relatively easy? That's to be seen.' Not happy with the result, but happy with the performance and SG's reactions after the game. He's in it. He's not looking for that other job. I don't doubt that it's a wish for him to come true one day, but I don't think he thinks about it too much now. He's in this job 100% and I like it. And he's done really well so far. Long may it continue. UTV! P.S. The best swedish football journalist Erik Niva highlighted in the studio that chelsea won from a dubious penalty, citeh won from a dubious penalty, liverpool won from a correct penalty but we didn't get one we probably should have. And that was before the manure game. I laughed a little when I saw that manure won from a penalty.
  12. Not to mention the debates whether it was a save or just a catch from time to time. I'm with you all the way and had the same argument last night. I have to admit that at first I thought it was a rubbish decision, but then I kept on thinking that it unfortunately was the right call. I also thought that had Ramsey come in a second later he would've scored as the ball probably would've been lost for Schmeichel by then. But we'll never know. But from what we can see it's right to disallow it. Not bad refereeing. But very badly worded rule, no doubt. I can't help finding it a bit funny that so many think that what pundits say and how they interpret the rule is more right than the ref's, claiming the ref's don't know the rules. Of course they do, it's the very basics of their job, and things like this have probably been discussed plenty of times. The rule, the words and how to read the words. And now a few pundits have found the rule and had their say and so many think that their uneducated interpretation indeed is the right one. But again we've been on the losing side of a rule that has its loopholes and/or is badly put in the book of rules.
  13. A really good win yesterday, and the best parts were for me the fact that we came back from being 1 down to win the game and that we could've won by a bigger margin. I'm not thinking about the disallowed goals as I think it was the correct call according to the rules to disallow Ramsey's goal, and the second one, well, Schmeichel would probably have acted different if the whistle had not already been blown. Could still have been a goal, but it's lika a penalty not given. You don't know if the penalty will get you a goal. I'm thinking about the chances we missed, unfortunately Ramsey's being the biggest miss after a lovely move. That pass from McGinn is a pass we don't often see from our players. Watkins had a really good chance too. A bit nervy at the end, more nervous than I was against palace, but they threatened once and Martinez then showed them that it wouldn't matter what they threw at him, he'd stop them from scoring anyway. Nakamba got my MotM as I think he was, again, crucial to our win. I just loved that sliding tackle in the opening of the second half when Mings did a Mings. Nakamba's turn since Gerrard's arrival is just marvellous. I don't think he was bad before, but he fell a bit short most of the games. Now he's going ahead of everybody else. And then we have McGinn's run in the and after the whistle had gone. Nothing could stop him. Chukwuemeka making Maddison look like a novice was another wonderfull moment. I hope he signs a new contract soon. Him and Douglas Luiz, who I think had an average first half but again improved during the second half. And thanks to all the fans being there. The atmosphere sounded amazing on the TV. And the former leicester player Pontus Kåmark, who was the live pundit in swedish TV had only praise for the atmosphere and thought it was a really great PL game all through with the intense and open game and the fans. Can't say he's wrong about that. Now, liverpool next, and hopefully Gerrard will be even more up for it, pumping that energy into the players. UTV!
  14. I thought he was a bit so so first half. A bit too sloppy from time to time and didn't look fully concentrated. He tried more flair stuff but not up to 100% when he did which made him do silly things. 2nd half was much improved and he got a lot better. Was a bit surprised to see him subbed, but felt that it wasn't wrong either. Could've cost us, but as it was it would have been a soft penalty. But I think he will get better and better with SG and GMaC coaching him.
  15. And btw, I think it might be time to replace captain Jack, now. Woodward, that is. I saw his post match interview with Gerrard earlier today and the way Gerrard looked at him after a few of the questions was like "Having to endure your questions is by far the worst part of this job." There's a seriousness and a determination within Gerrard that just feel like it clashes with Jack's lack of seriousness.
  16. I think the approach to the first half was to sit deep and counter attack, never expecting citeh to fire on all cylinders like they did. When they did the players couldn't really respond to that. They fought well, but couldn't really get things going. But citeh were really good the first 15 minutes. What a ferocious start. I think we did well not to let them create any clear cut chances during that period. Anyway, when they scored their 2nd I thought it would be over. Took a shower during half time, thought I'd be in time for the 2nd half, but when I got back it was 1-2 and we were very much in the game. We didn't create that much but that wasn't to be expected against such a good side. But we created a few and should've had a penalty. It might not look that clear, but to me it is. Aké never touched the ball but he got Konsa from behind. I can't for my life understand why he didn't even go and check VAR. But then our not so much a Friend was in the VAR room, so very much as expected. Didn't feel that hard done by anyway, for some reason. A draw wouldn't be unfair, but a narrow loss was pretty fair both halfs considered. Very proud of the players putting that 2nd half performance on and give it a go. I didn't want DS to get sacked, I think he could've turned things around, but at this moment I feel that SG is a level above and in the end it was the right call. It's how I feel now. I hope I still feel like that come May. And Douglas Luiz my MotM. And Sanson showed his form from the chelsea game, which gives me even more hope of a bright future. And did you see the reactions of their players on Ederson's save from Chukwuemeka's chance? They were more than relieved. And in the end they were actually hoofing it away a few times. That says a lot about our second half performance. I liked it, even though we lost. UTV!
  17. "P.P.S. You're always welcome back to me when she thinks you're too old. You'll never be too old for me. D.S."
  18. A much needed win for so many reasons, but first and foremost to stop the rot. To gain some confidence, keep the distance to the bottom 3. Those were the most important and obvious reasons for a win. A draw would've been good for stopping the losing streak, but it wouldn't help us keeping the distance as well, and it wouldn't gain as much confidence. Also rather important for Gerrard to start with a win. The sacking of DS was among some fans, me included, a bit controversial and didn't sit well, so to keep some of them calm and hopefull that it might've been for the best after all. We need to be on the same side now. The game itself looked pretty much as I expected, if anything it looked better. Most of the players looked like they believed again, they didn't hang with their heads, Mings (my MOTM), McGinn and Emi showed leadership, which was essential. Now we need to build on the confidence we gained, because we have a decent squad. New players still trying to reach their form. I have no doubts about Buendia but he's not started well. But I'm sure he will turn out a good signing. Petrov wasn't exactly shining his first 6 months either. Bailey seems like a player that will be up and down. But he hasn't played very much either. I'm not worried. Next stop palace. Not an easy game, but winnable.
  19. Some personal comments hidden. I thought the first episode had its faults, to say the least. Rushed and some unnecessary changes that made things worse. But it definetely got better in the E2 and 3. After all it's an adaption and they aren't meant to be the same. I try not to think too much about what happened in the books and what didn't happen. It's early days and i think it might be good. I think the trollocs looked far better than I thought, costumes wasn't bad, dialogue most of the time good, but why "shit" instead of "light" or the other phrases they use in the books? The acting, well, it could be better and I think it will. Not shocking at all.
  20. From what I've seen from different clips and trailers it looks good. But I'm also ever the optimist. But I've been let down a few times. Yes, I'm looking at you Under the dome and The Passage.
  21. And tonight it's time for the big one, the one I've waited 25 years for. Well, the plans for it started about 5 or 6 years ago or so, but I started to read the books about 25+ years ago and wanted them to be filmed there and then. They're already on Prime, of course, but some of us have to work. Or at least be at work. Still very excited:
  22. I have to say that this appointment feels better and better. I just hope that he gives some of our youth players a chance. If they're good enough, but I think we have a few gems there. JPB, Carney, Archer and that small ginger guy in the midfield can go somewhere. As always with a new manager after a bad run it will be exciting to see which team he picks. I read here and there that a few wants Mings to be stripped of the captaincy. I think they will get disappointed.
  23. If he does that and don't win anymore games for the rest of the season I will still see it as a good season even if we go down. Beating manure, Gerrard giving the Kop the finger must be seen as successfull. The headbutting isn't necessary but a little bonus. I don't mind Klopp but he is after all liverpool's manager.
  24. Tony Xia is probably the biggest word removed for me. I mean, it takes some serious ****ery to be a bigger word removed than Ellis, who would easily top this list if it wasn't for the good old doctor. Lerner for me was like someone said earlier in the thread a guy with genuine intentions, but when money wasn't enough he really was clueless. No plan B, if you like. Some said that he held out to get his money back and that was too long, but didn't he really lose loads of money blanking the debts when he sold?
  25. Slowly warming to the idea of Gerrard being our manager. Warming to as in I start to get my hope up that he might be good for us. No real expectations, though. Only hope. I know too little about him as a manager.
