  2. Welcome to Aston Villa, Alex McLeish All the best in the world. That's all that needs to be said right now. Anything else is only to detriment to ourselves and our football club.
  3. Martinez would be a fantastic appointment, you just don't see it yet. Ive always listened to him and thought he was fantastic. Players will want to play for him and you know what, he will make Villa a good team to watch. Go for it Randy, this guy has the potential to be our manager for 10 years plus.
  4. Hearing noises for Roy Keane up here in Manchester. Think Lerner will want someone more experienced, though.
  5. You all should have listened to my ITK. I said I dont know nothing, the players dont know nothing and most of the staff know nothing. I was 100% correct! I believed you!
  6. Wouldn't surprise me, I believe he was a Sunderland/Newcastle/Wigan fan as a kid.
  7. Got the iPad 2, love it.
  8. The main point about Ancelotti, is if he takes the job, he believes in the ambition and future intentions of Randy Lerner. The guy could pretty much walk into any job globally. It is the fact that Randy will have promised substantial backing to make this work, Ancelloti will come here with the intention to win trophies, not be middle of the road. I doubt he will become our manager. I dont doubt Randys ambition, just dont think its as great as Carlo will want to hear.
  9. First Gareth Barry, then James Milner, now Ashley Young and Stewart Downing. Tell you what, if they'd have stayed at Villa, we may have built something, but never mind! Tara.
  10. It will be Man City that will come knocking. Depends how they do in the league next year, but if they finish 3rd or 4th again, they may come looking for a proven Premiership striker to help them mount a title challenge. Lets be honest, Dzecko and Balotelli haven't set the Premiership alight as yet. There's also no guarantee Tevez will be there next year. But anyway, this is far too negative. I apologise for bringing the tone of this thread down! Darren Bent :notworthy:
  11. Exactly the reason I've wanted him at Villa since his Charlton days. Delighted he's finally found his way here. Fantastic signing for this club. Not sure how long we will keep him, though.
  12. They haven't really thought this design through though. How are the black armbands going to stand out against that?
  13. Wasn't that on a weekend? Plus we weren't in the midst of a global recession. But hey ho, who cares, I was there - that's all I can do. As I said to a couple of stewards on the way out, "hope you win it." Genuinely. Lived in the area for many years and I know what it would mean to the city and the people that have longed for success for the Blues. What I found interesting was on arrival, we were greeted with 4 or 5 lads telling us we had, had our day out and to **** off home. Very nice welcome. Banter at first, I thought, but they kept going on and on and on. Suppose tickets were cheap last night, a few fans making a trip to the COMS for the first time in years. It's that small mentality that will stop Citeh progressing on to the global stage like a Man Utd or a Liverpool. However, that will pass when you start winning trophies (which you will) and these yobs (which is what they are), won't be able to get tickets anymore. Good luck to the future, but I'd watch Villa on my own (cheap tickets or not), so how many we brought is quite frankly a poor argument to force when most on here probably went. Up the Villa and good luck for the future.
  14. What a bizarre thing to say! Aside froma complete lack of recognition of the regional situation - Spurs in a City of 8 million people in an area with 25 million, containing the financial centre of the country - you know, Bankers and the like - the number of wealthy individuals and businesses local to Spurs is absolutely huge. With a relatively small ground they have the situation where supply is much lower than demand, both for seats and for executive packages. Thus the prices rise, and they have the demographic to be able to support those high prices, as well as the kowledge that if someone drops out, there are people waiting to jump in. That situation isn't the case for Villa. In an area of the country where manufacturing is the main economic driver, and an area that has been hard by the recession caused by the flipping financiers in London, there's far less ability to pay high prices, as well as a significantly smaller population. But most bizarre is the notion that prices at Villa are "ridiculously cheap". They simply aren't. Spurs are ridiculously expensive. It's all relative I gues, but I just don't associate the word cheap with football prices anywhere, other than when they do the 10 quid tickets for cup games, which is maybe once or twice a season, and very welcome indeed.
  15. You think that's bad? I remember watching Wrestlemania 7 with my elder brother. Those were the days! I've seen that the Rock and HHH have come back, however, they weren't the days I look fondly on. All about HBK in his youth, Bret Hart, Warrior, Hogan, Randy Savage, British Bulldog, Demolition, Legion of Doom, Mr Perfect, Rick Rude, Crush, Sid Justice etc (sure I've missed a few). But if the rumors are right, and the Rock is out to take down Cena, then that's all good to me. Someone needs to tell Cena that the "Mr America" thing has already been done, about thirty years ago. He's a more thuggish Lex Luger/Hogan cross between - oh and he bores me! Take him down Rock!
  16. See where he's coming from but that's a bit embarrassing on Burley's part.

No, he's not. But if you moved to Manchester and had no idea of where you were and knew none of your team mates or anyone in the area how would you cope? It's not easy...
  18. Welcome to Aston Villa, Darren Bent. We should have signed you years ago. There's messages on here from when you signed at Sunderland of how disappointed we were. Many Villa fans, including myself, think that your arrival is long overdue. Thankfully, you're here now. You're going to be a Holte End hero. Just do your stuff mate!
  19. David Bentley and Robbie Keane certainly would have been purchased at inflated prices had MON still been here this month. I'd much rather have Albrighton, Makoun and Bent. MON either signed players that were on their last "payday", workhorses or players that hadn't quite done it somewhere else. He wasn't capable of buying that Darren Bent type striker, he didn't want to. Darren doesn't run round like a headless chicken running after ball after ball. He's a goalscorer, that's it, end of. Not a MON type signing at all. Very exciting times.
