  1. http://twitter.com/AndyDTownsend Was it just me reading that thinking 'I never knew he was such a clearing in the woods'? It's clearly not really Andy.. I was thinking that too, that person is a right d**k whoever that is.... Yeah, but what makes you think it isn't Andy? To be fair, I think that one is Andy Townsend.
  2. I doubt that's Andy Townsend. Why does he have a picture of the Villa badge? I know he was captain here etc, but he's hardly Villa through and through is he?
  3. To be fair, whenever I've watched Soccer Saturday, Thompson has always assessed our problems pretty well. Voicing concerns that we lack a 20 goal striker. At least if he is appointed, he'll be ramming that down Houllier's neck. Everyone, but MON it seemed, realises we need a top drawer striker. Randy will back Houllier financially, I don't think he would be coming otherwise.
  4. Houllier would have clearly impressed the board. They choose who gets the job, and I'm sure they went through a list bigger than any of us can imagine. This afterall, is Randy's club, it's his money, it's his investment. I think Randy wanted someone with knowledge and contacts in the European market. At Liverpool, Houllier took a few risks with some french youngsters - La Tellec, Bruno Cheyrou and Sinama-Pongolle (amongst others), and this may well help us. He might not be so naive this time round, and understand that culturally, there are players that won't settle in this country or league, regardless of their talent. I think this could be a good appointment.
  5. I'm starting to warm to Alan Curbishley a little. Don't think he'd be a bad appointment. Worked with low budgets before, and signed some good players in his time at Charlton and West Ham.
  6. That was a complete wind up. Ah, good old uni days. Anyway I'll let you kids fight between yourselves. I've got work to do!
  7. Cluckedy click That's what I call "owned". Shame I can't find any good picture of that. I watched that interview with my own eyes, thanks. Where does he dismiss hughes? Owned, please. I feel sorry for you that you believe everything portrayed right in front of your eyes. Football is all smoke and mirrors. Sooner you realise that, the sooner that feel of disappointment year after year will fade.
  8. What evidence do you have of this mate? How do you know that MON didn't want Ireland? Good mates with Martins nephew. He doesn't know much else. I told people this on the day, but was dismissed. Now people continue to miss the obvious in front of them and have justified the signing of ireland without a moments honest thought. I would venture that he doesn't know anything. The board blocking the signing of McGeady until someone is off the books I can wear. There is no way that Randy Lerner would have sanctioned a deal that would bring in a player that the manager didn't want. After all, he had enough trouble getting the manager to pick the players that he did want to sign! The deal for Milner only got concluded once Martin left, that speaks volumes trees. It should have made the deal slower if anything. It was done a week or so after Martin went and would have been quicker if Stephen wasn't messed around with his pay off fee. I don't really care if people don't believe me. I'm not some little kid at a keyboard. We will wait and see what the board do. I will be surprised if it's anyone but Kevin appointed.

Never denied talking to Hughes, did he? Haven't shipped Schrawzer (sp) off neither, as expected.

  11. No reason at all for kevin to go public unless he felt he had a really good chance of getting the job. Dear oh dear. When he is appointed, it will become clearer how much the board has shafted us as fans. No manager to disguise no transfer funds. Martin O'neill didn't want Ireland, the board said yes to that. No funds and players being signed he didn't want = Bye bye Martin. Hello Kevin, cheap option, yes man. It will all start to dawn on people when it becomes a reality, the truth that is. So much propaganda coming out of the club it's embarrassing people fall for it.
  12. If Moyes left Everton, they wouldn't be anywhere near Villa. The guy has done a fantastic job. Can't believe there are some on here dismissing. His team battered us yesterday, regardless of the score. Everton play good football as well. With some decent funds, he could do really well at Villa.
  13. Looking more and more likely that they're after someone who is already in a job. That's the impression I'm getting. It's good that the club is taking its time. We have to think long-term.
  14. Yeah, you're from Yorkshire and criticising a club in Lancashire! Come on, mate
  15. You've got to give him credit. He'd be a complete disaster to appoint, but he's desperate for the job. I think this interview shows he's not looking likely to get the job. He's had no contact, he's never spoken personally to Randy Lerner and he'd love the job. He's desperate for the job. Throwing his name out there and talking live to SSN. He's not coming across well to me, also. Talking about how managing Aston Villa would be a great 'goal' for him. No chance of him getting it imo. He would have had some contact at this point. The fact that he's pleading for himself on SSN speaks volumes.
