  1. Your second sentence is exactly why I think he’ll play central for us. And saying he didn’t play a single game central is a bit of a misnomer because he played where he wanted - if you look at his assists the vast majority came from the middle 1/3 of the pitch. Either way it’s exciting, amazing that our discussion is over exactly where players of the quality of Grealish and Buendia start.
  2. Don’t know if it affects your view on this or not but both Grealish or Buendia will play central before JJ or Carney in any league game so you could say getting another body on the wing is just the same as getting one there. Personally I’m actually a step the other way and think Grealish - Buendia - Traore will be our starting line-up, and ESR won’t happen - if it did then I too might be moving on AEG but I think we are still one short as things stand. So we end up at the same conclusion using different workings.
  3. Well agreed but he only says it when it’s a done deal getting signed. So this is like saying “I’ll believe it when the official site announces it” just a few days earlier - it’s totally valid to dismiss all transfer rumours but they all get broken somewhere else at some point first (along with a load of nonsense).
  4. If we are then it’s exactly the right thing to do. Even if the gap between the latter and the former is five years it’s still the right thing to do.
  5. See I think we have signed him as ‘cover’ but he’s probably first choice cover (and/or first sub) for Targett, Grealish, Buendia or Traore (with others in that forward line shuffling so he plays wide left). So he’s ‘cover’ but he will play 30+ games I would think.
  6. Not a huge Hause fan myself but I don’t ever actually remember a howler from him…? Have I blanked them out? Edit: see a few people beat me to this, not meaning to pile on.
  7. We pretty much never mention anything unless it’s a record.
  8. I think we will play with a few variations depending on 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 but I reckon Grealish-Buendia-Traore will probably be our most common line up. Exciting to have options
  9. I like the look of Buendia from Norwich there.
  10. Agreed. And if nothing else it will mean people on here don’t dismiss potential signings based on comments from a single interview a couple of years ago about the sort of players we’d ideally sign!
  11. You might be equally misguided on this signing then
  12. Still maybe my favourite PL moment for the low of the equaliser to the high of the winner. That and the goal that beat West Ham away to lock in safety a few years later and the away end at Upton Park went nuts (which by the way was a brilliant Young assist and he just stood there with his arms up loving the scenes). Actually those being such memorable moments for me probably show why I have fonder memories than some seem to.
  13. Let’s not forget aside from the full back bit that Trezeguet got minutes for us last year on the wing. I’d take a 36-year-old Young over Trezeguet every time. Even starting Grealish-Buendia-Traore behind Watkins he’d be alongside El Ghazi as our most likely attacking sub. If we felt we needed two attacking mids, a starter and cover, and this signing for one of those allowed us to pay more for Buendia in the other while the kids have another season developing then I think it’s smart.
  14. Not yet but wait until the end of the window and we will see
  15. We are talking Jack Grealish here, right, Jas?
  16. This is funny to me. If Jack eventually goes to Man City or wherever and plays against us he’ll be diving all over the place… we can’t moan about it after the times it’s been positive for us, and I think the same about that dive from Young…
  17. This sort of sentiment is staggering to me. I mean I’m not saying he’ll be a great signing now but was our best player for several years at the high point of the last couple of decades. Things like West Ham away, the 3-2 at Everton, the genuine level of play that saw Man United sign him… to me this is like saying “I don’t have fond memories of Dwight Yorke.”
  18. He played left back for title winning teams and England at World Cups… including the last one… didn’t he?
  19. Ash was always an arrogant cocky prick - it’s why we LOVED him before he left
  20. Another Emi? Something going on here.
  21. I don’t think he is going BUT this is exactly what we should do. Either we have more talent with him or we have done our best to cover the gap. Hopefully the former! £25m is a bit on the low side for a hot Arsenal prospect though, not sure how serious we are about him…
  22. I literally have… can’t remember that at all. You live by the dive, you die by the dive I suppose haha
  23. Nothing more inexcusable in football than defenders not following in a saved pen. Half of them are sat back on their heels even as he’s saving it.
