  1. Found a Villa Pod that might interest some of you Two Irish lads putting stuff out weekly. Named after the Great Man himself aswell "For The Love or Paul McGrath Podcast" Seems to be on Apple and Spotify https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/for-the-love-of-paul-mcgrath-an-aston-villa-podcast/id1476441985 https://open.spotify.com/show/0eeVBPhkPsJ8WvkNCUWRYX
  2. Kevin Toner did nothing wrong last year. Richards acted the gowl all year. One gets rewarded the other get demoted. Some logic that. Why doesn't merit come into the equation. Why do the plumped up showers of shit that have no love for the game anymore still get the opportunities. Even in the League Cup.
  3. Where are the shits these players should be giving? We have a human totem pole up front and a back four that resemble a worzell gummidge tribute association. Not to mention 4 sheep in midfield. **** frustrating!!!!
  4. Hutton did it again. Hes had 4 bad touches and booted the ball out of play 3 times. He's a clown
  5. Some load of horse$hit this half has been. How some of these players can function without helpers is beyond me. Richards, Hutton, Gardner are worse than awful. Gestede is one of the laziest people never mind footballers I've seen. So sad to see. Players don't even look physically strong, we know they have mentally regressed 15 years. It's mad. If there isn't a sports psychologist with this group every day then it's a massive oversight. Its just not normal for a club to under perform against lower league opposition so often. Every **** year we lose to a lower league team and get embarrassed. You would never mind being beaten by wonder strikes but shambolic performances with it is wholely unacceptable.
  6. Skysports running it aswell. That's a really experienced and exciting coaching set up.
  7. What about Danny Ward of Liverpool as GK. Was on loan with Aberdeen last year. Highly thought of and has stated he wants to leave to progress.
  8. I actually think AVB is a top manager but never in a million years a candidate for Villa at the moment
  9. How bout AVB its made for a headline "Andres Villas Boss"....... I presume I'm getting banned for that
  10. First we had Tony Moon. Now we have Dr. Tony Summer!!!!
  11. If I'm not mistaken aren't PSG owned by the state of Qatar? Not sure that being owned or backed by the Chinese Government is the worst thing in the world if it follows that model.
  12. There was an Italian centre half we were linked to ages ago from Pescara called Capuano. Maybe the same fella? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Capuano
  13. Interesting half we seem to break with speed and numbers which was non existent until late February this year. Richards looks composed at the back I think and Kozaks goal was really well struck. Gueye is a real Dynamo in midfield
  14. I'm impressed with Bunn as well seems confident at taking crosses and for a free transfer he has equitted himself well in the friendlies
  15. I dunno but I think it's the perfect opportunity to get NZogbia off the 25 man list say to them how bout 8million plus CNZ on loan for the season paying 50% wages. I know that is very idealistic but I'm sure he must be sick of flounderin round. His pay isn't affected and he might get a move back to Europe out of it if he goes well for Lorient I can't really see a downside for any party. 16. No reason. Oi! That's not "news" yet you scamp! I haven't said anything? I knew it. Riley is having a medical at Citeh. Sigh. There's now loyalty in scouting anymore. 17. Why you say that Omar. Has Riley been ousted as part of the scouting shakeup yesterday?
  18. Surely Stuart Taylor or Andy Marshall were more uninspiring? Hell I think even the signings of Chris Sutton and Didier Agathe were more uninspiring as they were mid season. This fella is back up keeper probably 3rd choice. See no problem with it.
  19. Found this very good article on Villas plight at left back since Bouma retired also references the bid for Amavi: http://www.espnfc.com/club/aston-villa/362/blog/post/2515363/can-tim-sherwood-solve-aston-villas-left-back-problem Apologies if this has been posted already
  20. He may have been part of the selection team for bad managerial selections. But to say Faulkner added nothing of value to the club is complete tosh. He negotiated an increase on our commercial gain virtually every yr. He made record deals for the club during his time here. Sorry I just don't buy it, simple fact is the club regressed massively under his leadership. His leadership led us to where we are today, that's a stone cold fact. Lerner is not and never has been a hands on Chairman so the CEO role is beyond critical for us, beyond day to day ops and creating a vision for the club, he was the guy who crucially also shaped Lerner's view and perspective. Yes commercial revenues have increased yr on yr, they have for every prem league club, he literally just needed to get out of bed each morning to make that happen, no points there. If I had the time I'd try to find the yr on yr gains for say Spurs, Everton, Stoke, West Brom and look at the % gains for each, I'll bet we are bottom of that list. Look at the quality of core sponsors we have managed to attract under his watch, an online FX broker, Malaysian casino, nondescript online bookie, frankly I'd never heard of any of them, non were strategic we just become a run of the mill billboard as most lower end teams in the league. Did he manage to secure a global brand like Standard Chartered, Samsung, AIA and lock in a long term strategic partner or just sell space on our shirt / tv screens. So commercially no he didn't do anything special and certainly didn't take the club forward, he achieved the bare minimum during a time when prem league exposure and $$$ potential went through the roof. I mean geez when we finished 6th under MoN and looked to be cementing ourselves as serious top 8 team did he manage to cash in on that success with big ticket commercial deals? No he did not, not even close. After the MoN horror show came to an end we needed a strong leader with a clear vision on how to right the mess MoN had created, what we had in Faulkner was a clown who simply tried to cut costs without a long term plan, and honestly he made a mess of that... Fox has shown how to correct a budget and control costs while ensuring investment continues. Look at how Stoke, Swansea, Southampton, even (actually especially) West Brom have progressed in the same time period, under proper leadership with long term vision and disciplined business management. Honestly it's gut wrenching for me, by pretty much every measure imaginable we are 'bigger' than these clubs, yet they have consistently finished above us, have had far greater success recruiting talented players without spending huge $$$, all while managing to make a profit. So not only did he add zero value above and beyond what anybody could have done in that role, but he managed to regress the club to such a degree that two much smaller local rivals now routinely finish above us, and in West Broms case now incredibly have a similar enterprise value to us - that is an absolute disgrace, a case study in mis-management. Finally this is the clown who actually thought hiring Alex McLeish was a good idea, and then incredibly hired him........ That wasn't a bad decision, that was a disgraceful decision that heaped misery on the club when we already at a low point. I get we had serve budgetary constants at that point in time and we were not looking for a big name manager, but for gods sake I could think of ten similar guys on the managerial merry go round could have done just as badly / well under the same conditions, but didn't come from SMALL HEATH. During that time there was little good news to be had, hiring McLeish simply made a bad situation many times worse and caused additional pain for fans who desperately needed some good news. Because of his disastrous rein Lerner gradually lost interest / passion for the club, though thankfully Lerner woke up and acted. I give Lerner a lot of credit for making that decision (albeit too late) and for making the Fox hire when he easily could have brought in a nobody numbers man to run the club on life support as a caretaker until he could sell. Sorry to go on and on but when I start to think about what he did to our club it really makes me feel sick.. Can't argue with anything in this. Faulkner thread water with this club. Forward thinking was not on the agenda. If you do ever pull the % increase stats for those other teams I would say in comparison to Villas gains it would be embarrassing for all involved on the commercial side of the club.
  21. I'm not clued in on take overs but surely due diligence is on the football club and it would be the club's finances that would fail due diligence not the prospective owners. Am I correct in saying that or is due diligence done from both sides?
  22. Dunno if it's been posted here before but this is a list of Richards injuries: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/micah-richards/verletzungen/spieler/32617 This show that he has only really had one major injury fir a Knee OP. Dunno how conclusive that is but made interesting reading.
  23. in 10 seasons he has only more than 30 league games a season once Vlaar has played 4 seasons of more than 30 league games for example 10 years ago he was just turning 17. I know what your saying but when you are young in a team that has been taken over by money men you often get lost by players purchased as statements of intent. I'm not saying he is the next Maldini but the amount of games he has played isn't as clear an indicator of his quality or injury problems as it would normally be for other players.
  24. People say we were on am economy drive the last few years. Maybe we were getting rid of players that we knew a)didn't want to be here or a succession of managers found that they lacked the effort/ability for this level. Signing a player for 65k is not an indication that we over spent or that we are going to put ourselves in the shit again, it's merely paying for a player the recruitment team and manager feel can contribute. Im also not so sceptical on the whole played 'x' amount of gamed in 5 years argument either. He had Zabaleta in ftomt of him and the guy is 27 in two weeks, far from washed up and certainly not as injury prone as is being made out. Very good signing Tim keep em coming at this level and we lll judge you this time next year.
  25. Did Luke Garbutt ever sign an contract at Everton?
