Thought he played a lovely pass to Coutinho across the box at end of first half that PC couldn't quite connect with. Lovely curling pass from a RB position through to Ings too. Think he's been ok

@M_Afro I missed the lock in the pre match thread. Gerrard was quoted saying the midfield is doing well just last week. "Tim is extremely close," he said. "He's training really well and did well in the two friendlies we played behind closed doors. "I know he's ready but, the midfield area at the moment for us, I'm really pleased with it. It's looking good, looking strong. Tim has to keep pushing and fighting." So that's why I think he is pleased with it. Because he said so.

Sanson deserves a shot. He hasnt been bad when used, I'd understand if he'd been poor and was just another case of fans thinking players get better when they aren't playing... but he hasn't been bad when called upon the last few appearances, took one or two for the rust to wear off but he's been fine otherwise. It bugs me that Gerrard seems to think we're doing well in midfield

Other than Dougie and Nakamba we only have those kinds of midfielders and both of those have been fantasy-sold by the fanbase over the last 6 months. Gerrards system is going to need to start paying dividends soon. He's done wonders for Ramsey, hopefully the same can be true of the others. Just not convinced even if they do well that the system works. But happy to be proven wrong. In theory before he joined it sounded exciting. In practice so far we've managed to be poor in attack, overrun in midfield and leaky in defence. We aren't good at any phase of play consistently. A lot of issues to fix.

Really disappointing, I didn't want to believe he really just decided immediately that he was going. But seems that way. Think he'd have been alright enough till the summer had we signed Hickey. But saw a name like Digne and bolted. Disappointing even if I can understand and respect he wants to play football. To throw the towel in immediately is a shame Still think we should've held him for 6 months.

Glad we decided not to bother with a midfielder again. We might save ourselves £10m on Bissouma in the summer but lose £6m finishing 3 places lower than we otherwise would've done.
