  1. Got to start there every game now with Green out. Thor just ain't good enough at this level.
  2. I wish we'd more often than not just set up with Hogan and Kodjia up top and no holding midfielder at home - don't mind Jedi starting away games. With Elmo, Adomah (surely now starting instead of Green) Snodgrass, and even Taylor we have the ability to get balls into the box most of the time.

    John Terry

I appreciated the urgency from him yesterday, and he wasn't the only one.

    Keinan Davis

Has been a good run of games for him, but I would love Kodjia back in now.
  5. Pretty much sums up the choice on offer - and why Bruce remains in post. Might be a blessing in the long run. Enforced stability. Bruce as ever needs to deliver pronto.
  6. RDM and Bruce doing the same at this stage of the season. But possibly the biggest difference is the squad, when we'd lost the way with RDM we didn't have a squad capable of anything short of staying up. Bruce hasn't lost the way completely, we're unbeaten in a few games now, Kodj just back, Jedi just back, and the squad is just starting to get to know each other after a lot of changes since the start of the season. If he gets the win next game, and then doesn't lose often, he'll stay in place and the target will change to play-offs. It's that or a gamble on a manager who might not otherwise be our first choice given it is mid season, so while Bruce is not doing a great deal to deserve to stay, the alternatives compared are just not convincing enough for Tony to gamble. Plus I want this thread to make 1,000 pages.
  7. I think so too. Kodjia looked sharp, Jedi first game back, snodgrass looked good too. Also johnstone now looking solid. There is just enough promise to keep the status quo for now.
  8. I honestly think Dean Smith is exactly what we need given the players we've signed, would be like having Bruce but with tactics - could really work out.
  9. Well not so, he admitted he'd got RDM wrong, early, and that was his own pick as new owner - much bigger deal than what he has with Bruce, the guy has got to get Wyness and Round on board with the idea or it really is completely back to square one. As much as some folks relish that idea, IMHO it would be insane.
  10. Fair enough, but I'm never going to start criticising the bloke for having got it wrong - the guy is trying as hard as he can - would not swap for any other owner.
  11. Isolated as a game, he was right to make changes at half time and then we hit the bar and have our own player clear it off the line, probably 2-0 some other day - but maybe the gods were trying to get him sacked before some seriously unhappy villa fans take it out on a cat.
  12. Gonna get to 1,000 pages after all. Rejoice.
  13. Or he's put total commitment and resources into a sinking ship - doesn't deserve criticism such as "been a disaster for a chairman". But as there are a lot of unhappy folks on here tonight I haven't the desire to be thrown on a bonfire for uttering some sort of balance so off you go goblins, vent away!
  14. The Tony resentment is 100% down to him not sacking Bruce yet, nothing else.
  15. Come on, how many of you were sad to see that red card?
  16. Yeah, I really think we should just go for a gamble, nothing much else working for us.
