  1. Mate, read that and you’ll understand why that’s not bizarre to say
  2. For all the doom and gloom in the pre match thread, that was a really good half. Yes, silly goal at the end but the lads did well. We are unpredictable, strong, giving it a go although a bit awkwardly granted but still giving it a go. Hopefully doesn’t fall off a cliff second half but I was happy with first half overall.
  3. You’re joking, if Zaniolo stands still in the wall it just hits him. That is on him. Yes silly by Dougie but Zaniolo is to blame for the goal
  4. Had a few injuries this season, played a fair bit since he come back so probably just being careful with his minutes. Given the rest of the team, probably a good game to rest him.
  5. Am I as positive as our best XI? Of course not but throwing a tactical spanner in Pep’s week long plans against specific players of ours and then Emery challenging our fringe players to step up and who should be very fit and not suffering from fatigue. I’m positive until something changes my mind and every other team have gone to the Etihad trying their usual play and come away with very little so something different might work, might not but I bet Emery has a plan.
  6. We’ll never know, what if we lose 5-0 tonight but win against Brentford but in this hypothetical we had played our best XI tonight and lost 1-0 tonight but after expending all that energy and maybe even an injury we drew or lost against Brentford, so it’s not as simple as saying goal difference.
  7. Can’t see us beating them 5 or 6, I’d be happy with a 2-0 win….I think you need to lower your expectations. Good to see you positive
  8. That we have a home game at the weekend which is more winnable than a game against the treble winners who just don’t lose at home. It not binning it off, it’s more that it’s surprising Pep, along with a group of very fit players who get a chance to show what they have. Tactical surprise.
  9. Yeah I can only see us getting 18 points from those fixtures, I think we’ll struggle to get more.
  10. Absolutely no pressure or nerves for tonight, we aren’t expected to win and in theory with their home record we shouldn’t win. The pressure is all on them, we just go and enjoy it and play on their weaknesses and see what happens. They have to win being third and 3 points behind Liverpool, that could open them up a bit. Any result for us is all bonus, looking forward to it and we have nothing to fear.
  11. No @NilsMackay that they quote makes up the percentages but the Football Rankings tweeter generally posts just the points like the picture in the tweet.
  12. Napoli and Italy right back. Tall, not quick but great stamina and Napoli captain. 30 years old (31 in Aug).
  13. Our threads are full of mention of Spurs. I read four pages of that thread and we weren’t mentioned once. Small sample I know but the narcissist in me wanted them to not care because they felt we would get it
  14. It happens though, I don’t care if at the end of the season we end up above both of them. It’s about consistency across a full league season and not playing brilliantly or poorly in a one off game, that’s why I hate the term ‘must win game’ when it’s in the middle section of the season because it’s not true. Yes it would’ve made it easier if we had beaten them but beating all them we would now be in the title race and we know we aren’t that good yet.
  15. Not all of us, I’ve been banging on for what seems like 18 months about the need for a proper back up striker but always shot down about Ollie never being injured, look how Ollie was when Ings was here, we have Duran, we have 10 other players that played as striker in their youth or previous life. I get there were some solid arguments in there but it’s one of the main positions that we don’t have a quality option. Duran is the enigma but I am a little concerned with CL place and ECL cup in the next two months or so at stake...just have to keep my fingers crossed he can or somebody else steps up. Talk about bad timings for injuries that we’ve had this season.
  16. I’m torn on him. I think there is a real player in there but his stats have been pretty poor. So many times he looks like he’s going to do something and so close and then doesn’t. I really loved angry Zaniolo that came against Wolves and using that anger in a good way and was productive, I want more of that. My nephew loves him and really defends him and just thinks he needs more time somewhat like Bailey had. I think overall I won’t be disappointed if he stays or goes.
  17. and then lose to Bournemouth the following week. That’s why they are where they are and there is frustration in the club and amongst the fans.
  18. They can’t do it imo especially as they keep giving up shots. I was driving during the Brentford game and the commentators said on the radio that they’d given up 100 shots to the opposition teams in the last four games…that’s incredible and they have been more lucky than good defending and if they do that upcoming, somebody is going to smash them, maybe Liverpool on the weekend.
  19. Plus wasn’t he only brought in as cover while Buendia was injured? Just like Lenglet was cover for Mings injury. The buy option option for Zaniolo was just in case he smashed it out of the park and became the superstar he’s always thought he could be but through injuries and himself hasn’t lived up to but there was always a chance.
