Richarlison looks like he’s going to Spurs for £50m, which’ll disappoint some on here.

Oh I agree but for example Bailey is very skillful, we just haven’t seen it in a game for Villa. Just like we haven’t seen Davis being skillful in the PL I was replying to that. I think we haven’t seen a lot of a number of our players this year which is highly frustrating and I hope we will next season.

Just off the top of my head I can think of 5 players more skillful without even breaking a sweat. Coutinho Buendia Traore Bailey Chuck

Reading that article seems like they are making an assumption that if we buy another forward it’ll push Ings into third in line and thus Villa will obviously listen to offers. Maybe right, maybe wrong, just feels like they had a deadline and so wrote anything.

On paper I think we are still short of them but on the pitch I think we are even more short of them. They have the physicality and mentally more aggressive. Even in their decline towards the end of the season you could see it. We have some talented players but we have a weak underbelly and I’m not sure that is coachable, that’s a part of who you are. I hope the signings of Carlos and Kamara help but I don’t think we are as strong as West Ham. The fine margins in the PL mean that slight differences are the difference between 7th and lower half of the league.

I’m conflicted on whether he should go back out on loan. I think more regular football on loan will do him the world of good than 15/20 minutes here and there at the Villa. On the other hand he’d get to train with a better quality of player here and could make the difference on the pitch. I’m still edging to loan though, at least until January, I just think regular competitive game time is invaluable at his age.

I’m not sure why we’d sign Jesus because he himself said he’s not a striker. In fact we’ve talked all season that Man City doing so well without a striker. He plays wide of the striking position. If we want a No.9 then surely he doesn’t fit and that’s before even considering whether he’d come to us or whether we want him.

Yes and no! I think every fan has sentimentality of past players playing, I’m not sure all fans wish explayers become future coaches/managers of that club. I agree there are a material percentage that do but I think there are a significant portion that don’t care because it is a very different skill set being asked. Yeah but most not at an elite level but you then obviously have the Pep’s of this world. Bet most that have successfully moved from player to coach weren’t one of the favourites at the clubs they played for. It’s general not about playing ability but as I say a different skill set. Maybe, but at what level of the game. How does the other parts and probably more important parts of coaching/managing is he good at. It’s like making your most talented employee a promotion into a managers position when while they are extremely technically talented their management skills aren’t great. If Young is a great coach or potential to be, then great but his career of experience, professionalism and leadership is just a small component of whether he’d be a good coach. Sentimentality and jobs for the boys is a very big problem in football. I hope we are a better club than that. If Young is good enough then I’d be delighted but if not then no thanks.

I never get the fan craving for explayers to come back in a managerial role. It’s a very different skill set and very few do a good job.

Your also giving Purslow/Lange disservice. While I don’t disagree Kamara would be getting a huge signing on fee even £10-20m, he wouldn’t be getting for example £40m. He will be getting most of the excess value in his wages over his contract plus bonuses so he would be getting for example £125k per week with us whereas normally he’d only likely get £80k per week. So there is some protection for us money doesn’t go out of the door straight away and we can sell him in a couple of years if it doesn’t work out. I still think a 22 year old, now French international on a free transfer and all that entails financial wise is a bargain compared to an equivalent that we would’ve had to buy with a transfer fee.
